You’ve found some great pieces! I have white walls too, and I LOVE to cluster some big creamy crocks or French (or French-looking) pottery or ironstone up on top armoires or pine/oak antique pieces. Of course they need to be something that won’t topple over-something fat and squatty and the top of the armoire needs to be substantial enough to hold them. But it really draws the eye upward, even making the presence of the armoire seem taller, but blending in enough with the wall color to not be busy and just add an architectural element. Also-I use a little gilding paint in a tube called Rub N’ Buff in a color called “gold leaf” to antique mirrors if I want to add just a little more gilding to a frame or whatever. Not sure you would want it more gold, but I like a little crusty gilding! I just kind of hit the highlights with my fingertip and it really adds a beautiful and warm, rich effect. Not everybody likes gilding though. ;). You’re really pulling it together and the great thing about armoires is--STORAGE but uncluttered storage. Way to go!!

Those pieces are so beautiful! As you shop, don't be afraid of getting some painted pieces possibly at a lower price. Sometimes it helps break up the look of the wood and allows those pieces to not compete.with eachother. I was once told by a Ranger at a state park that closets were considered a "room" and people were taxed based on how many rooms were in their home and that is why many older homes don't have them. It was during a tour of an historic house.

Your home is looking great! I can really relate to your authentic to you style. Love your antique cupboards and armoires! I love mine and have had them since the 1990s! No paint just the warm wood and can't imagine my home without them! I stuff my blind cupboard full of ironstone and open the doors and voila! The hunting for the pieces is the most fun right?!

Beautiful armoires! I love them all! We have one that we use in our bedroom that stores my hubby's socks, underwear & sweaters in the lower drawers and tv that we can keep behind closed doors for when we don't want to watch it. I use it more than him actually. I tend to drag paperwork, etc to sort through while relaxing on the bed and watching a show or movie. Love your mirror! That was quite the find.

You are adding great pieces to your home and it is shaping up well. I love antiques; I have been a dealer for 35 years for so. My personal style is more flowery cottage than yours , but I also live in an old farmhouse. It is well over a hundred years old and used to be a potato farm. The town gradually filled in around it, so there are neighbors nearby. I always enjoy your videos and marvel at how hard you all work.

Hi Lisa, what a beautiful video ! One’s house should be as unique as each of us are, you are so right about that. These days, when looking at the houses that are on the market, you’ll see an extensive use of gray everything, barn doors, those Costco glass tile backsplashes and subway tiles everywhere. It’s almost creepy to see so many houses looking alike inside. In 20 years from now, everyone will know that these homes were remodeled in 2019. Nesting takes time and vision of what one wants to be surrounded by, so your approach is so inspiring. Thanks for sharing your little treasure finds with us!

I am so jealous of your walls! I live in an 1880's house and it is a more open floor plan. One thing I did tho, that I love is in the entry way, I put in a chest that is sturdy enough to sit on for putting on shoes and the like, but big enough to store either winter or summer stuff (depending on the season.) I LOVE the mirror you found! What a steal! I swear most I have seen are at least $50-$100. I do agree, living in the midwest (MN) there are tons of antique shops and lots of places to find beautiful antiques. Thank you for sharing! I love every piece you showed today.

Love love love all ur beautiful antiques. U definitely have a great eye n taste for them. To me personally I love a home with antiques . With all their different wood n color ... it’s just so homing to me. I have many n I’ve had others too that I had to sell when we down sized. I had one large cabinet ( like ur’s w/ the dental modeling at top) n it broke my heart to sell it. It was made out of old reclaimed wood from a barn made in about 1890-1910. It almost touched our ceiling. I’m so excited for u ... can’t wait to see what u’ll find next. Boy, I wish I was about 20ty yrs younger n I’d sell our place n go find me an old big home so I could fill it with all my antiques n other stuff I continue to collect. Living in Florida it’s not easy finding antiques shops n if u do the prices r ridiculous tho farther up of Florida there’s a town called Mount Dory n just about the whole town is full of shops. Love this place but unfortunately we don’t get up that way anymore. Oh, the chairs u found forthe dining room would look great painted white. I think it would give the dining room some warmth as u have lots of wood ( of many color n style) And I like the mirror u found far better than the one u wanted to buy. Thank u Lisa for sharing ur home with all of us. U r definitely a very talented lady. God Bless Michelle D♥️
