If you use an old house for reference, the window and door casings are not the same size of dimensional lumber. Window headers will be 1x4; door headers 1x6. The taller the window the bigger the decorative header, with one exception: if a window and door are wider than they are tall, the header is shorter and the stiles are thinner.
