Hoof trimming is such a good video to watch. You can learn so much by the cows feet, the care that they are given and with not that many cows needing it done. Shows the care they are given.

Kip, you need to be on a scheduled trim program. Trim cows at dry off and between 90 and 120 days in milk. Even if they dont look like they need it, doing this prevents a lot of problems and more then pays for itself. Consider it preventative maintenance.

Definitely gotta say ive loaded alot of cows, and not once have i ever thought of using a fork to drive them on the trailer. I understand everyone has to stay safe but its not like they are wild animals a short wooden stick or even a cattle prod would be way better then jabbing them with forks.
@karloarsch157922 сағат бұрын
And some patience, the fork is not acceptable.

What about a cattle prod Karl do you agree with that bud??
@karloarsch1579Сағат бұрын
@@KipSieglerFarming1I follow your channel since years, therefore seeing the use of the forck was a unpleasant surprise, and not only for me, as the comments show. What I have seen so far, is the way you interact and how much care for your animals. On the other hand I know, that a farm is not Disneyland and a cow can be deadly dangerous. A cattle prod would create a different picture, than a fork, thats for sure.

This is the real deal out here on the farm, it’s not a Netflix special. You have a fork to motivate them in the trailer and protect yourself. Poke the cow or she turns and possibly tramples young Nathan

@@KipSieglerFarming1Like I said in my other comment Kip. Keep Nathan out of stall if he can’t take care of himself . There are other tools that are meant to move cattle safely. Not a pitchforks. I have moved baby calves to dangerous bulls and have never used a pitchfork. I really like you Kip but this really disappointed a former dairyman of 40 years. Sorry

I have farmed for over 30 years and have moved baby calves to huge dangerous bulls and have never EVER thought of using a pitchfork to control them. If the nephew can’t take care of himself moving the heifers then he should not be in their helping. I agree that u have to be safe for everyone. But also the heifers should be safe. I really like You and your videos Kip. But the pitchforks really disappointed me( and many others). There are other tools used for safety when moving cattle. Not pitchforks. Sorry but just my opinion

The pitch fork is unnecessary have a stick is one thing but a sharp tool is just cruel I've worked on dairy farms for many years and never needed to stab the cows
@m-nnoholly4 күн бұрын
One does this in the Netherlands, and film it . Boy ya got autority on your barnyard. You get a big fine. Maybe yaletime. The real problem is the work pressure. More than 50 hour workweek to keep a farm running is just slavery. Fucking capitalism.😢
