How many men does it take to start a John Deere in the winter? Three, one to turn the key, one to stand outside and pour the either into the air intake and then one more to stand back with a Tim Hortons coffee ( hand warmer ) to make sure no one blows up! Actually four if you include the film crew. The joys of winter.🥶

We use a Honda 2000i or 3000 on the JD engine block heater for 30-45 minutes when the tractor is too far from 110 volt plug-in, and starts like a charm and with no ether. Much easier on the engine that you want to last as long as possible. Picked up that used Honda 2000i for $800 off Kijiji, and it was like brand new...one of my better investments.

I’ve learned when it comes to hauling in the winter, your truck needs to be the same temperature as the product you’re hauling usually cold is better. That’s meaning the bed itself also install a vibrator. It truly helps.

When we need to haul lime ( like sand) in the winter we use drain oil and diesel fuel to oil the truck bed to prevent the lime from sticking to the truck box. We have used a brush or a Hudson sprayer to apply the mixture. The sprayer needs more diesel in the mix.
