I picked this up on a older Garden tractor a few months back and have been VERY happy with it. This is a lot like the Craftsman Tractor Scoop, but it has some upgrades that really set it apart. First, it's built with a heavier gauge of steel. Next, several options are available for it to make it more useful on your homestead, and lastly... It's 100% electric in operation. No bulky handles and levers to work with. This thing uses two fact acting actuators to lift and dump the bucket.
I own a Kubota BX series tractor and some may wonder why I still spend so much time working with my Garden Tractor and this type of attachment.
The reason is that a Garden tractor is just better for certain tasks than a SCUT. The smaller overall size and lighter weight makes it better suited for garden work.
I'll make a part 2 of this video and show how great this thing is at moving soil and rock, but it may be a while since that part of this season is already over.

Loving that HUSQVARNA! I would suggest drilling/bolting the Center of the Ripper Attatchment to prevent Warping/Bending! Add adding a Couple Rear "Saddlebag Weights" for traction. I'm in the Process of converting my CRAFTSMAN Front Scoop to Electric, as the Johnny Scoop is out of my price range for my SEARS FF20! Take care & Garden On, 🤓 -Thomas Port Orchard, Washington

Looks like a great piece of machinery, heck with a couple of pieces of angle iron tacked on the inside of the bucket, a small length of porcelain coated grate, it can double as a Bbq grill for a hot lunch on the go!..... Seriously, I envisioned a BBQ grill when you showed us the front of the bucket. Let's call Johnny products and strick up a deal with us.👍

Thank you . I was planning on doing the same thing to my lawn tractor . Having the same one maybe a little newer . THe content showed some key things that when i go to build mine I don't end up making stupid mistakes . Myself being a welder and have very low cost to use a CNC machine It's going to be a few brackets I am hoping that I can get enough down pressure so I can dig into the ground a little bit . AFTer this is done I am going to really finish it off with a digger in the back. JOY sticks stabilizer legs going to have to go small hydro on this so i can get at least 3 ft in the ground nothing to crazy. thanks for the content helped a bunch

That's a neat little scoop. Would defiantly make moving horse manure around a lot easier, vs loading the garden cart and driving to the location getting off to dump the trailer getting back on to pull forward, getting back off to close the trailer, then getting back on to drive back and get more lol. As far as the frame issue with those Husqvarna tractors, that's really no big deal guys, even a junky harbor fraud welder is good enough to weld some 3/16" plate to those frame rails, could even do some cross members as well. Should be a fun little project, I happen to have an industrial grade garden tractor from the 1960's with essentially a 1 ton truck frame underneath it full 3/16" C-channel, with a full cast iron front and rear end with a ring and pinion out of a v8 dodge dart. So I have that for the heavy duty tasks, and don't need to modify my modern Husky as all it does is mow grass. BUT looking at it, should be an easy project as long as you keep the factory bolt hole locations, and don't block any belts or levers. Oh and disconnect the battery lol. Learned that one the hard way as a kid, burnt out my voltage regulator and had to buy a new alternator because I welded with the battery hooked up.

After owning a Husqvarna GT52xlsi for 5 years, I heavily suggest trying the Cub Cadet. Just now learning of the weak frame and just at 200 hours the v twin briggs on it is already causing problems. I've taken great maintence of it too, although I use it on a rough 5 acre property. Ive been upset with this thing so much over the years for many reasons. Really wish I went with cub cadet.
@SweetLou0523
@SweetLou0523 3 жыл бұрын
@@nou755 if its a v twin briggs, its guaranteed to overheat and fail eventually. They are designed to grab grass and dust and pack it around the cylinder heads, which then cook and let the exhaust valve sleeve walk out. Ask me how I know this lol If the kubota GS series wasn't 33% more than an XT3, I'd be all over that purely for the liquid cooled (and diesel) engine.
@Malinois_Whisper
@Malinois_Whisper 3 жыл бұрын
@@SweetLou0523 your comment here got me to check specs on the JD x590 I’m looking at. Looks like it’s v-twin air cooled. But I live in upstate NY where the heaviest thing I’ll be doing with it is pushing periodic driveway snow 6-8”. Maybe light excavation work here and there. But I do see the 7 series is v-twin liquid cooled. I know jack about about engines so curious what your thought is on liquid cooling for cold weather areas...although last summer was fairly toasty here but no more than high 80’s?

Hey Eric, thank for the videos. I am definitely interested in a setup like this, as a sub compact tractor is not in the budget. Since you do some fabrication, have you thought of using an old hot water tank to make a plow or grader? Wondering if it's possible, as I have one available to cut up and use. Would make a great DIY video.

Eric, we’re enjoying your vids this rainy morning here in Upstate. I’m leaning toward a JD x590 because the 4wd models are a bit out of my budget...for something I’m using mostly to cut grass. But I do have some pros coming to do excavation work and so I could use a Johnny jr or little green monster type loader to help out. I like the thought that the GM lifts at least wheel barrel ht. Do you think the lift (200lbs) is too much on these heavy duty lawn mowers? Wish Carlos at GM would send you one to review.

They are not cheap, but compared to a sub compact utility tractor with a loader, they are a great deal. The height issue only matters if you wanted to fill a dump cart, and then I've seen folks make temporary ramps for use with them. I like mine, it's great for our little farm.

Hey Eric do you know if that would work on a John Deer E130? I’d use the heck out of it
@BobSmith-qi5di
@BobSmith-qi5di 3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know johny buckets only are made for garden tractors the e130 just is not designed to handle alot. If you look at the differences garden tractors have a heavier frame and transmission and also weigh alot more the e130 weighs in at 450lbs I belive. I have a old school JD 214 it weighs in empty at 660LBS then you add the rear wheel weights suitcase weights and the bucket it will weigh about 800LBS. I can normally pickup the front of a smaller riding mower such as my S240 but I cant even lift or move my 214 it is so heavy. I would highly recommend getting a older JD garden tractor. If you use the bucket on a e130 it will eventually burn up the tranny and even possibly bend the frame which I have seen. My JD 214 also has a hydraulic lift option which really helps.
