I can’t imagine riding my GTV 250 more than 150 miles in one day. I’ve done 100 a couple of times. I made a number of “cross countries” on 750 and 1400cc bikes designed for travel between 20-30 years ago and know what it’s like being out in the elements for weeks. Even when I was quite young and riding a Yamaha 305, a 300 mile day on the small bike was hard and I don’t see a Vespa being any better than the 305. Frankly, when I saw the first video of you leaving I was certain it was to be a one-way trip similar to the group ride to Mexico a while back…leave the scooter and fly home. Making the round trip…just wow! You THE MAN, Kevin! Do it while you can. I’m 66 now and will be doing 6,000 miles next month…in an elderly E320 this time. Don’t think I’d survive a motorcycle ride like that anymore.

Great video of a great trip. On another note I hear tell of some folks getting 100+ mpg out of their new Honda Super Cubs. I kinda' want one but I don't reckon I could do a trip like Kevin did with a Super Cub. Gimmee' a good shave, a pair of Levi 501's and Doc Marten 1460's, and fill the Vespa GTS 300 with powerful gasoline and I'm ready to rock! Mahalo Robot and ScooterWest!

Nice episode. I will see you guys before Cannonball, or at Spring Scoot in Portland. We plan on riding to San Diego doing the Cannonball, then riding back from South Carolina. We will see how far we make it. Looking forward to seeing you all. Gildo

It did motivate me. I'm mostly wanting a piaggio 500 mp3, but after hearing you, I may just get myself a Super 300 GTS. 🤷♂️

Congrats, Kevin. You are a trooper for sure. I ride a Harley and a Vespa. I don't know how you did that kind of distance without cruise control.

It would be great to see you boys and girls over here in Great Britain where scootering is still alive and well but if you where to do 600+ miles in one day you would need to be carefull of your destinaiton as GB being an island a little left or a little right and your in an ocean and you can suffer all the seasons in one day i reckon we would be very pleased to see you on one of our scooter rallies.

Cool story! Considering your average speed you must have been 12 hours on the road on that longest leg (including breaks for backside ventilation 😅) - it's incredible you didn't just fall asleep on the scooter! And how did your knees survive? Mine are screeching after a 100 miles and I'm not nearly your size. Thanks for sharing!

Is that "speedo" speed or gps or tone wheel corrected? I'm not getting nearly that kind of mileage. Regardless, Congrats! That's an awesome ride.

HUZZAH! So then, I have been wanting to ask how the stability is on these larger scooters with smaller diameter wheels/tires. Especially so on a loooooong trip such the one Kevin did as I imagine the wheels make steering quicker than larger diameter wheels like those found on the BV400S or motorcycles. That and did you carry a spare gallon of fuel with you? I used to do that on my GL1800 after running out once because I was not paying attention to the gauge . Regardless, I very much enjoyed your thoughts on the trip there and back again.

I’ve run NYC to the lake house in the Adirondacks on my ‘18 300 GTS SuperSport. About 245 miles one way, no issues. People say it’s crazy. I say it’s one of the main reasons to go larger than a 150 model. Keep your head on a swivel as always for idiots drivers.
