Awesome - made one to offer up to my friends and family in the colder climates. I’ve got peeps in Michigan, Minnesota, Vermont, etc and this yarn I used has some alpaca in it. A nice toasty hat for someone!!

I’m making size large adult but at 44 rows mine only measured 17” so I needed to crochet 56 rows for it to be 22”. Is this because my yarn isn’t as bulky as yours? Or my tension is tighter?

Well I have 1 skein of Hometown super bulky6 and 9mm hook for body of hat and just ran out of yarn before finishing 1st decrease row.

Thank you for this tutorial! I am making a similar beanie and got lost after the brim. As they didn't explain well of where to stitch next. So I am grateful you show exactly where. Although mine says 53 rows for a size large, and then 42 stitches around the brim.. thats the part thats confusing me most. You just did the same amount of stitches which made sense. Which I might try doing the same amount because I cant figure out how to get 42 around 53..

This is *such* a sweet little pattern! Was hoping this was for size 5 "bulky" instead of size 6 "super bulky", but I think I can adjust! Muchas gracias.

i’m currently doing it with size 5! it seems like most beanie patterns are for size 4 or 6. it’s hard finding size 5 for some reason!

Idk about anyone else, but 44 Ross’s was not even close to enough length for the brim to fit my head. I had to go to 64. Just if anyone is having the same issue!

Finished the brim, but can I use a 10mm “N” hook for the rest of the beanie or will it mess everything up?

Thank you for such a great tutorial! Im working on the brim & at 44 rows, my length only measures 17”. Im either grossly miscounting my rows or crochet incredibly tight. Either way, would you recommend increasing my rows to more closely measure the approx 22” it’s supposed to be? And if so, would that change the number of decrease rows? This is my first time hat making. Thank you for your help! 😊

Are you using the same yarn and hook size as I did? I would try stretching it a bit and see if it fits around your head, it does have a bit of stretch. If it’s definitely too small still, I’d recommend adding rows until it fits around your head snuggly. You want it to have a little bit of negative ease so you have to stretch it slightly to fit around your head. You’ll need to add more stitches to the rows for the body of the hat though to compensate for the rows you add. So if you make, for example, 48 rows, you’ll need to make 48 stitches around the brim of the hat after you finish the brim. I hope that makes sense!

I hate to make it more complicated if this is your first crochet hat- I really don’t want you to end up discouraged- let me know if you need any more help! 😊

I am at 15 1/2 inches and 44 rows. I do have tight tension. Any advice? I’m also wondering if having more stitches affects the number of decreases in the rows in the body of the hat?

I am using Hometown yarn and size 9.0 hook.

Can you wash these ? Hand washed ? What type of cleaner ?
@YarnStash2 жыл бұрын
You can wash them in the washing machine if you use this same acrylic yarn. If you make a pom pom I’d recommend making it removable so it doesn’t get messed up in the wash. Here’s a helpful tutorial that explains how to make them detachable leftinknots.com/home/how-to-attach-a-removable-pom-pom/

I tried this and my hat turned out to be a beret. I have no idea what I did wrong. My 5 rows of double crochet did not stay the same size, they increased I guess but I didn’t add any extra stitches

I'm confused by the number of single crochets into the edge of the rim. You say I should have as many single crochets as I have ridges, but you're putting a single crochet one into each ridge and one into each valley. Isn't that twice as many single crochets as I need? I ended up with 34 ridges, measuring 22", using size 6 yarn, starting with a 6.5mm hook, then switching to a 9mm hook.
