@@ScottJeschke No problem. Also, what do you use if you don't have a fill?
@ScottJeschke6 ай бұрын
@@SekiaTracks if you mean bounce, white poster board, a white t shirt, whatever you got. Poster boards and foam board are great though. If you mean, general fill to life shadows, any light you can point at the ceiling.

My answer is simple: MORE (pls). If you could make some inside/tungsten vibe shot breakdowns with temps (light, camera, etc) I'd really appreciate it!

Aye sir, excellent work. I just bought an Amaran 60x. I can't wait to get back to filming. You legit inspired my to get back to small test and projects while i continue to work on my own series. Thank you - carry on.

Thanks Scott. I keep learning a lot from your videos. Can you help me with film titles in Davinci? What titler are you using, and how do you embeed or layering them into your videos? Thank for your tips in advance!
@ScottJeschke5 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks so much! I only use Davinci for color, so unfortunately I wouldn't know :( I use FCP for editing

@@Irockkp thanks so much! My education in cinematography was watching on bigger sets, DPing and gaffing lots of short films, music videos, and a feature, studying movies, reading tons of ASC articles, getting a certification from the Shane Hurlbut illumination tour, and practicing til I'm blue in the face ha

@@ScottJeschke definitely gonna try these, been practicing like crazy. Your shots seem extremely cleaner than mine but we have the same set up. You think color grading and exposure are my two main problems if I’m experiencing that?
@ScottJeschke2 ай бұрын
@@Irockkp most likely. My LUT is dark so I overexpose a little, which gets me clean shadows.

I'm gonna get a diploma template and put Scott Jeschke Film School on it. How much can you move around with these set up and not walk out of the light?
@ScottJeschke6 ай бұрын
haha, that's amazing! Glad there's some value here. Good question, so that's kind of what I'm addressing at 5:24. My approach in this video is really just supplementing available light, be it window light or strategically illuminated lamps and practicals. So it's a little more of a "faces" than a "spaces" approach. That being said, because the shots are built off the practicals anyway, you could definitely have wider shots with more movement; you would just need to block actors to eventually hit marks near lamps, windows, etc. so that when you cut in for the closer coverage, you can supplement. It's a little more valuable for solo "cinematic" shooting, but kind of the idea here is that even for no-budget narrative style projects, you can do a lot with available light and some strategic supplemental light. hope that makes sense.
@ScottJeschke6 ай бұрын
the shots where i'm bouncing off the wall allow for a lot of movement for actors

didnt you say no budget... which means lighting with practical lights or the lights which we already have... 😁... apart from that love the placements of those lights
@ScottJeschke6 ай бұрын
Ha, funny enough I changed the title from low budget to no budget. At the end of the day a 60w light could be $50 could be $200. Which in the movie biz is below no budget, ha
@arun_kumar06 ай бұрын
@@ScottJeschke which basically means "on a budget" 😅... and people who do movies arent your audience for this video... it will be new/freshers who want to start their filmmaking career with no budget... do a video on just practical lights and with just practical lights like Roger Deakins... would love to see your way

@@arun_kumar0 that's fair. May change back to "low" 👍
