Thanks for another great video. A possible explanation for there being so few trains at Tunnel Hill, Ga. is that those trains are bound for Nashville, Tn. and west. South at Cartersville, Ga. the line branches. This line goes northeast (follows USRT 411) through Chatsworth, Etowah, to Englewood, Tn. where it joins the main line (the rat hole?) coming east out of Chattanooga. This branch allows all trains headed directly to Atlanta to bypass Chattanooga. To see vastly more trains coming out of Atlanta, you have to go south of Cartersville, to somewhere like Acworth, Kennesaw, (where the General is on display) or Marietta. I live in the Acworth area. South of Cartersville, it is said that there can be as many as 50+ trains a day (24 hours week days). Anywhere south of Cartersville is great train watching, with relatively easy access from I=75. ;-)

Another splendid video JT. Plenty of historical facts for me to look up. That's certainly a fine old tunnel from the early days of rail in the USA. The information about the General and the railroad chase really brings history to life! I'll have to look at the Buster Keaton movie again just for good measure. Thanks for doing this video it means that I can sit in the comfort of home in Yorkshire UK and look at these sights on the other side of the world that I am unlikely to ever visit at my age of life at leisure, almost as if I was there.

If you are ever in northwest South Carolina, there’s an incomplete tunnel that construction stopped on at the beginning of the civil war. North of Walhalla, it is a different experience. At one time, Clemson University used the the internal section process blue cheese. It’s been several years so I don’t remember how far it goes into the mountain. There’s a beautiful waterfall adjacent to the parking area.
