hi julie, im curious how your hands are feeling into ur massage career? im starting school in July, but for the past several months my thumbs have felt stiff and painful. do you think learning the right mechanics in school will help prevent any further pain and injury or is jumping into this career going to make it worse?

I fell off a ladder yrs ago. No broken bones or anything. But as I was falling I stretched both of my hands out as to not hit my head on the concrete. Xrays negative. But ever since, I have severe osteoarthritis in both hands. Over the yrs, I found hand exercises about 4 times or more weekly help. I do about 10 of them. Then afterwards. I use rubbing alcohol, pat it dry and apply arnica and an arthritis cream. I sleep nightly with the arthritic gloves. I get a lot of relief. And I am able to function daily. But I do have flare-ups about 2 times a week out of nowhere. I stopped all drugs but do take extra strength Tylenol here and there. The exercises and self-care work much better than any pill a doctor will give you. The massages do work. Thanks!

If you are having problems with your hands, don't laugh but this cured mine. Put both of your hands in the okay position. Take the three fingers and put on each side under your chin, then the circle part of your index and thumb put it up to your eyes. (Now the okay sign is upside-down) pull back and leave it there for as long as you can stand it. It is a great stretch for your fingers and your wrist including your forearm. Sometimes my back even pops into place. After 1 month my pain was nearly gone and now I only find myself having to do it every so often. My veins used to stick out in my hands and my fingers hurt but they no longer do as often as they used to. 👌

Ditto on everyone else's comments about your excellent video. I'm 68, have had Trigger Finger surgery on the middle finger of both hands within the last 2 years AND broke my left arm at the wrist area after a fall last November. Oh, and did I mention that I also play the banjo? With a lot of patience and persistence, it was a slow but fortunately a very successful recovery inbetween each surgery and I'm now back up to speed playing banjo. I've continued to do some stretching exercises I learned but know I should be doing more to keep my hands as loose and limber as possible so thank you very much for your excellent, encouraging video. Keep up the good work - your knowledge and skill is certainly very much appreciated!

My mom just got diagnosed with arthritis a few months ago and I can't tell you how awful its been watching her try to find any sort of relief in her hands since she is still working and of course tries to stay as active as possible. I sent her this video and she said she's incorporated it into her daily rituals especially midday when her hands are starting to really bug her. She was getting steroid shots but she hated them so she's trying a more home remedy approach so videos like this are really helpful and she also uses Absorbine Jr. when she notices the massages aren't helping her enough. Has anyone here tried it? I'm curious to see how you guys remedy your pain!

Just started doing a version of this on my own hands, thinking maybe I could break the arthritis down!! Anyway, whatever the actual physical reality of such action, found my hands to be incredibly better, after only doing it once. Now do it many times a day with equal results. So, coming across your site for this was encouraging to see I am on the right track. I will incorporate your methods as well. Thank you so much for making this a public resource. Kris

Very useful demonstration. Clear and well explained - got to try this to ease up stiffness and restricted movement after 4 wrist fractures and a dislocated thumb plus half middle finger amputation following a serious accident. 9 Years on still nerve damage and pain but this idea has brought flexibility and pain threshold improvement and I've only done it once.! Greatt stuff. Oh by the way the backing track that sounds like someone practicing drums next door - you can dispense with it, it's a distraction. Your own voice beats it hands down if you pardon the pun!

Wow! Love the hat trick at the end! Since my first look at your videos {6 months ago} I have developed a trigger thumb, and, just viewed your "thumb massage" vid. The hand massage is so good I am following both at the moment, however,I've recently had trigger finger release surgery for third, and, middle fingers on my right hand, and, middle finger left hand. They are both a bit sore to do exercises with at the moment,as still have stitches, but,I can see the benefits of gentle stretching demonstrated here. In a few weeks maybe, when the trigger finger release has had time to heal a little.

Hello Spencer from our farm in New Hampshire! New to your channel. I was just diagnosed with arthritis in my thumb joints this week. Not happy to hear this as I am about to return to art school. It is not RA. Your video is helpful. Do you talk about foods that an irritate, like nightshades? I'm motivated to do as much as possible to carry on at 72, in a responsible manner, in order to address arthritis and general good health. Thank you for the time and work that you put into these videos. P.S.- I am the youngest on our farm. My husband is 77 and starting to suffer joint pain from tending cattle, haying and logging. I'm sure your channel will be of benefit to his health. ~ Diane
