Okay, so I turned my head completely to left earlier today. I heard an odd sound come from the right side of my neck. Ever since then I have barely been able to move it. The pain is almost unbearable. Its on the lower right part of my skull. If I turn my head to a certain point on my right side I get radiating pain in that spot. I've tried massaging it, stretching it and applying heat. They relieve the tightness in the area but not the pain.
@maryshaw38986 жыл бұрын
Malloree Holland I realize this is 5 months ago, but I believe you had torticollis. I had the same thing to me a couple times. A big pop, or over stretch in the left side of my neck and the pain was excruciating for a few days. It’s like he ACL of your neck. I would suggest if it has happened again to go see a doctor about it :)
@sumrsolo6 жыл бұрын
I had something like this and I had to take a muscle relaxer and sometimes naproxen for reducing inflammation of my neck muscles so it wouldn't pinch a nerve. That's what my doctor thought it was...a pinched nerve in the right side of my neck. I just turned my neck suddenly and I had extreme pain. It felt as if I pulled a neck muscle basically but I couldn't move it at all and especially felt pain when turning it to one side as if tightening was occurring as I did so. If you would like details in order of what I did I first got my Husband to gently massage directly on the source of pain in my neck regularly, I then used a heating pad, I chose to help relax my muscles with naproxen prescription strength from my doctor or muscle relaxers (I don't recommend taking them together but ask a doctor. I took them each spaced in between a certain amount of hours depending on how extreme my pain was.), I also avoided sleeping on the part of my neck where the source of the pain was at along with using a very good pillow for proper support, and most importantly I rested a ton in bed at least one to two days to recover (I seriously did this longer like for a week because it was that bad but I know not everyone can do this.) Just know sleep is essential in your body's recovery of illnesses and or injuries.

This sounds like something that happened to me in middle school. I almost fainted when it happened. I just laid down and slept in a bed, and it went away, but i never knew 100% what it was.
@sumrsolo6 жыл бұрын
Lene Rush Other people who had this when I was a teen had to take off of school for at least a day or two to recover from this and said they just stayed in bed and slept a lot. Then it just went away. Mine reoccur at least three or more times times in a year. It's horrible and frightening because personally it feels like my neck is paralyzed sort of but with extreme pain as if I'd just broken it as well. I basically feel like I've broken something and I can't breathe right, speak, and I drool a little because I lose all upper control from neck up. I'm very sorry you've gone through this but at least we're not alone and I thought I was crazy or caused it on myself. Nice to know I'm not but I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Hope you don't have it as a reoccurring thing.
