I am really envy you have these type of powerful nail guns. Friend ❕ thanks for posting your instructions of the Ramset nail guns on KZbin channel.

Thanks for your quick reply, Eddie. I've got to say that your videos are arguably the best on KZbin in terms of the amount of detail and clarity. I'm in Montreal and can get the Ramset .22 at Home Depot here but it's a lot more expensive than the US (even with the currency exchange). I might head down to Malone, NY and get one there (unless the border guards consider it a firearm!!). If you'll allow me one more question: I'm wondering what you believe is the best type of insulation to use for basement walls, especially for cold winter climates like mine? I'm not sure if there are any "code" considerations regarding insulation, but I'll look into it once I get your thoughts. Please keep up the fantastic work and thanks for sharing your expertise!

Eddie you have been so helpful. I was hoping you could help me understand something...When installing the sleepers around the perimeter of the room ( and then the others across the room 16 on center) everyone says leave a 1/4 in gap from wall for expansion and a 1/2 inch gap for the T & G plywood around the edges for expansion as well, my question is wont this gap let cold air in the room from the bottom of the exterior walls? I am insulating because it is freezing cold in our concrete slab addition the was on our house when we bought it. leaving a space for cold air to get through seems to defeat the purpose. what am I missing?thanks so much in advance

In my garage, pegboards were attached to cinder block with 2 x 4 furring strips and ramset nails with washers. I have a leak in in the cinder block mortar behind the furring strip. Even though there are not many, I do NOT want to remove the ramset nails from the wall for fear of damage to the cinder block. I reason if I could cut the head off the ramset nail, I could gently pry the furring strip from the wall, do the work I have to do to seal the leak, then align and slide the furring strip back over the headless nails. To finish the job, I'd drive in new ramset nails with washers in a different spots to refasten it. My question is: the ramset nail heads and washers are fastened very tightly to the wooden furring strip boards. What would be the best way (tools, methods, type of blade, etc.) to cut the ramset nail head off? I reason if I can get the head off, the washer behind it can easily be removed and then I can gently pry off the wooden furring strip. Is this a good idea? If not, any suggestions would be appreciated. I have to get at that leak! lol Thanks for any advice!
@BasementFinishingMan
@BasementFinishingMan 5 жыл бұрын
Those heads are hard to cut off...the pins are hardened steep that does not cut easily even with a metal reciprocating saw blade.Just pry the furring broad off with a pry bar fix the leak. Use some masonry damproof mix to waterproof the leak you got and then just reattach the old furring strip beside the old location. You'll probably never get those old nails out without removing the furring 1st. To get the old ramset nails out of the way I just hit them back and forth with my hammer until they snap off. Hope this helps. Eddie

Hello John! We use some liquid nails adhesive on the back of the 2" x 4"'s when this happens and occasionally we need to use a different fastener type called "Tapcon" screws that require a hole to be drilled first in the concrete and then a Tapcon fastener is inserted and screwed into the pre-drilled hole which holds incredibly well...but this technique is rarely needed! Usually all that's needed is a larger "Load" in our Ramset gun and this usually gets it done. Also make sure your gun is perfectly straight with the wall or floor before firing the gun...if your gun is on even a slight angle it can blow-out the concrete like you're experiencing. Eddie

+chamoco1 Some models it will not go in the whole way until you begin to close the barrel around the load. On other models it does. It depends on your gun. Eddie

Hey I'm here again. I got a new problem to my Ramset Mastershot. well my biggest problem was, there is no available .22 caliber power loads for my ramset at the market here in our country. the only available was a .27 caliber power loads. because lots of folks here who's using a powder actuated tools are all .27 calibers. thats why in our markets all of the available power loads are .27 caliber only. no 22 and son and so for. thats why I'm planning to convert my ramset mastershot into a .27 caliber gun by changing the breech plug of it. now i need your opinion. i already checked in into an gunsmith expert and he said that its possible to do that. what do you say about this?
@BasementFinishingMan
@BasementFinishingMan 8 жыл бұрын
+Genesis Regala Never modify a firearm to a larger caliber load unless the manufacturer says you can do this safely. I'm pretty sure Ramset or Remington does not approve of this. It can be very dangerous and could cause bodily harm if the firearm malfunction's during operation! My advise is buy a new 27 caliber Ramset or continue looking for 22 caliber load. Eddie

I removed walls in my basement, and I have double threaded pins or bolts left over from pulling up the baseboards, so theres no heads on them, will the cats-paw nailer work for this also?

Thanks for the demonstration. Question: Doesn’t it just seem so tedious and time-consuming to have to reload both the charge and the nail every time? Do you find that this tool actually speeds-up your work, despite having to repeatedly reload for every nail?
@BeeDubyah723
@BeeDubyah723 3 жыл бұрын
It may look tedious and time consuming, but it is easily 50 times, maybe even 100 times easier and faster than the alternative. The alternative is pre-drilling your wood and concrete or other surface, then inserting your tapcon or other anchor and hammering the nail repeatedly to complete the anchor. The ramset is now my number 1 go-to for concrete anchoring. You literally save several minutes on each anchor. That really adds up on a big job. I speak from experience.

hmmm so the size is the problem why i cannot use a 27 cal load for a mastershot ramset. thanks by the way. I just confuse about the color coding of the loads even though the sizes are not the same

Very informative. Safety must be top of mind at all times though. In this video the loaded device was aimed directly at the camera person while a finger was on the trigger. This tool should be shown the same level of respect as a loaded firearm, regardless of how many safety switches are built in. That said, this tool does seem useful. Drilling into hard concrete is the worst. 🫨
