Hey I think you have a dorman intake. They have the "pi" intake ports but the runners are narrow like the npi. I don't believe that is the same as the OEM pi intake hence why you see low end torque over the top end gains that would be expected.
@mrelectron62205 жыл бұрын
Dorman intake has the rubber o ring seals around the ports and does not use gaskets.
@madmod5 жыл бұрын
@@mrelectron6220 This manifold in the video looks identical to a Dorman intake p/n 615-175. Regardless of what model, the Dorman runners are not as free flowing as an OEM pi and it shouldn't be used with a turbo. Look for an intake off the 02-11 crown Vic police interceptor as they have the same runners as a 99-04 mustang.

Remote mount turbo, so many bonuses. Won't need to relocate as much stuff, keep all the heat away from the engine bay, keep the headers, super sleeper looking engine bay. And answer the question once and for all, will it be horribly laggy

No it won't, it's like a 200' water hose, once it's full it's full, no lag whatsoever. You sir are misinformed

@@richardharris492 flowing water and air is a bad comparison(litterally apples and oranges) but properly sized and it would reach boost fairly quickly. It would be so much easier to just y pipe off stock manifolds and run it between the engine and radiator. There is more than enough room and keeps the hotside pipe under the engine so who cares about the heat there. Also simplifies charge pipes and makes for fewer exhaust leaks and headaches trying to rear mount it.

Regarding the mass air flow sensor. Unless you add a map you need to put the maf on the intake of the turbo. I made the mistake of putting it where you were talking about putting it. It worked sure but once you go over 4psi the ecu has no idea what the hell is happening. Compressed air will misread on flow. 10psi 200cfm is much more air than 0psi 200cfm. I understand cfm increases with boost. However its just an example. If you could somehow make a baseline with the car n/a and keep a reading of the cfm through the rev range, then add the turbo and reference the n/a cfm map, you may be able to calculate the boost from the increased CFM to the motor. But i think you would also need the compressor map of the specific turbo used... Just no no no. Please use a MAP and MAF

244/267 tells me that's a very healthy mod motor and a good base for a turbo build. However, if the person who donated the vehicle hasn't done it yet (I do remember him saying that he built the motor for boost), I would pull the heads and put some better head gaskets, some head studs, (which, like I said, pretty sure I heard dude say that he did all that) and some stiffer valve springs. All of the bases for a new turbo build on an otherwise NA vehicle.

I can advance maybe a few degree's, but nowhere near enough to get to 40. Suspect maybe a cam/crank position sensor, or the engine's been rebuilt prior to my owning it, and timing is off a tooth or something. Actually had an issue with an 02 Focus I bought, where someone put a new head on (neither myself or the seller allegedly knew that, and those heads on the 2.0 SPI's are famous for dropping valves), and sure enough, the timing was off a tooth or so. Car would take 30 seconds to get to 60. Fixed the timing, 0-60 improved to 10 seconds....and now im really thinkin my trucks engine is gonna have to come apart to verify, lmao.
