I think that's the X3D CPU. The minimum frame times are always higher with those vs the standard. Its why they excel in VR games as well.

​@@fredsas12 Windows had a Game Mode but they never allow you to shutdown useless services. Linux is more customizable and if you want you can stop or just don't install any service/daemon. Linux is just better at weird stutter due to operative system being weird.

yeah, im done with upscaling/Framegen. those are shortcuts and a reason to not push actual performance. Depending on what Nvidias next GPU lineup shows, My next rig might be Full AMD.

The advantage of the PC is that u can go with dual boot with Windows and Linux like Bazzite and enjoy both worlds. Its great to see how Linux gaming has progressed over years mostly thx to Valve and Steam Deck. Future looks definitely bright for Linux gaming👍

And linux requires allot of knowledge and study to use effectively and it's support is limited on what works with it, and the security. i can't wait for Steam OS 3 to be official on desktop pcs. it will be awesome. but the performance of the games MUST be the same as windows or better. if it's worse by even 3 fps, people won't use iit.

@@sillybearhours there are still many things you need to do yourself. The driver support is not perfect and something that's not a problem for you maybe for another. Never confuse your personal experience for the experience as a whole for the platform

My steamdeck pc running bazzite on top of proxmox. It have virtual drives to store games & data. Under the hood, it’s 2 Zfs pools, 1 are raid0 for games, and 1 hdd raid1 for data with ssd cache. I still use intel 12700k pair with 6800xt Ref

@@GamingIntelCoreM-y I have to be honest, the aggravation that I experience every time I have to use Windows in just about any capacity, I'll tolerate a performance hit that a Linux based OS may have. The Bazzite interface is just so smooth and easy, and Valve working so hard to make everything work so automatically, for example: games having suggested controller mapping depending which controller your using. Just a polished experience all around.

You need a newer kernel that has the Vcache optimizer to use the special features of the CPU. Install something more bleeding edge like cachyos handheld and you'll see the pc flying

For all your Bazzite builds, do you ever test if the PC can wake up from controller inputs? I've heard only the official xbox controller with microsoft's special dongle can do it so far, and I have had no success over bluetooth or dongle with a kk3 max from gulikit. The true console feel requires this, but the best I can get so far is wake-on-lan. Probably gonna get a little mini keyboard to use anyway, though that doesn't really solve the issue.

I would LOVE to not use windows. Gabe is going to make it happen soon. And I can't wait for that. Propper driver support is a must. Performance MUST be the same as windows for games. if it's not, it will always be the determining factor.

How does the system work with VR? I have always heard there were issues with AMD and VR - so I would be curious how well it works with some hard to run games. Microsoft Flight Simulator would be the one that brings most systems to their knees, but also something like Cyberpunk 2077 with the VR mod from either Luke Ross or VorpX

Do you have sleep mode on this setup? I mean, like on steam deck where you press a button and then press it again and you are in the same moment at the game. I'm interested in this kind of pc if that's the case, since windows can't do it.

You can bring up the left screen menu Go to the power settings and put your system to sleep that way, that gives you the suspend animation. Alternatively you can press the power button on your PC and it will also put your system to sleep. As of right now there aren't any controllers that can suspend Steamos/Bazzite with its own dedicated button I'm hoping that the steam controller 2 (IBEX) can do this

CPU seems a bit of an overkill. GPU at 100% and CPU 10-20% @5.2Ghz except in a few cases like compiling shaders. I wonder if it might work better with just 8 cores instead of cores with two threads each. Pretty impressive CPU, and why it's hard to find at a reasonable price just now. Are there any games which really benefit from this, MMO's where it has to render lots of characters perhaps? Nice machine BTW.

Tbh, you want your gpu to be the bottleneck. If the gpu is the bottleneck you can adjust your graphics settings to get the performance you want. If your cpu is the bottleneck there's very little you can do about it.

9800x3d has been un-obtanium here since 2 minutes after the official launch... yeah, you can buy the CPU, but at a hefty premium (a.k.a. €200,- over recomm. retail), even from "normal" stores... And the weeks before the 7800x3d was sold-out...

Î am so interested to test this myself on R7600+RX6800 @3440x1440. But the Main Games (ofc not the only games i play) i play are modded or Sim Racing based, so use Wheel, shifter, shifter knobs with extra functions, pedals, two sets of mkb, 3 monitors, VR and so on. I am not in need or look for a "more simple" OS or convenience. Convenience makes things often worse in my opinion. Depends heavily on the topic of course. I guess this is not for me then? I do not like Windows, but i do not hate it or have big problems with it. I use WIndows since 3.1 and had every Windows except 2000 and 8 (ok, 3.1 to XP was also more of a thing my Parents brought home :D) I just want to get rid of that and use Linux more. I guess the Steam OS would be something for a PC that is mainly used t oplay some vanilla Videogames on Steam and other launchers. Thats my takeaway at least. Moreover i would love to have a similar software as Adrenalin, since i need to set custom Fan curves, undervolt the Card and OC it. I need a tinker OS. I guess Steam OS is not for me then. At least thats what it feels. Performance looks absolutely great here though.

Why 7000MTs? UCLK has to run 2:1 at this setting. Might get better performance at 6000MTs with a UCLK to memory at 1:1.
