Great video... thank you so much for doing this. My only suggestion is using a larger font on the notes as I was not able to read them at all on my cell phone. Thanks!

Glad I used spiral to wedge 50 lbs yesterday! Plenty of slamming too before the slab roller. Thanks Marie❤️

Great video! I use spiral unless the piece of clay is small... Then I use rams head. I wonder if you rotated your rams head occasionally if it would blend more quickly? I was taught to wedge one way with rams head and then turn it perpendicular and wedge again
@PotteryCrafters
@PotteryCrafters 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Nancy. Great point! 😍 I was thinking of doing that, but then I wanted to see how long it would take if you didn't rotate the rams head or the spiral because many of us don't.

I was thinking the same. I prefer the rams head technique (not sure why, just do) and I rotate the clay often. For me this works great. It’s real fun to actually see the colours mix, though! Thank you, Marie 😊

Rotating is a good way to do it. 😊 I like the rams head too because it's so easy to do. I still do it from time to time. Once I got the hang of the spiral wedge it turned into my favorite way to wedge.😍

Citra Florida. Wow, How do you like there? That's great (University of Florida). Thank you for sharing 😊 I use an Oak board to wedge on. I have heard of Hardee board but haven't tried it yet.

Okay....I live in East Texas. I usually do rams head or a version of slam wedging. For some reason spiral wedging is beyond my muscle memory lol. I think I need someone to stand over me when I am doing it telling me what I am doing wrong. 🙃 I start out okay and by the end I am doing something totally different which is why crocheting a blanket is so hard for me lol. I start out doing one thing and by the end it is nowhere how I started. 🤔 When I hand build I just throw the bag on the floor several times. Then rams head a small amount and then roll it out and go.

When I started doing the spiral wedge I struggled just like you. I kept trying and trying. Then all of sudden I GOT IT!!! The rams head and slamming works well also. I do all three and combine them sometimes. 👍 East Texas ! Cool. I thought you lived further east. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work. Love your fairy Planter. 😍

Interesting. There is a 4th way to wedge but requires a slab roller. Roll your clay out and cut in 4 pieces. Stack and reroll. Takes about 10 rolls to be completely blended.

Thanks for the info! I always wedge before I put the clay through the slab roller. Just got a slab roller. I'm going to try that 😊👍
