Hi mate, just wanted to give props on how your skills are coming along! I think your skills will continue to come on as you lose weight. I noticed the way you run (probably weight related) is a good part of the reason as to why you miscontrolled that ball when you accidentally touched it with your left after controlling it with your right. One day it will all just start to click a bit more! You’ll be surprised how much just wall passing a ball will help you strengthen your knees and ankles of your standing foot/feet- same with hops from one foot to the other :) Keep posting your training videos because we love to see them but also because it’ll keep you motivated and accountable.

I must say that I hate to play football on the parquet. It is much more fun to play on the grass or even on the cement. I follow both of your channels, support from Croatia.

To give you a little bit encouragement on the fitness part, 2v2 is very demanding because there is no time to rest. In a 11v11 there is more time to recover when the ball is on the other side. Ofcourse you got ways to go, keep at it and the improvements will keep coming!

His goal is to lose weight, not to rest. If you are already thinking of a less demanding way of losing weight tgen you are already defeated. It is like thinking and asking for holidays on your first day of job

From personal experience, I can say that soccer is not an ideal sport for overweight people. Although you lose weight efficiently by training and playing soccer, the strain on the knees and ligaments is very high due to the sudden acceleration and the quick, sudden stops that are necessary in pretty much all game situations. In particular, soccer on hard, unyielding ground is disastrous for the knees if you are overweight. Make sure that you start slowly and carefully and avoid sudden, unaccustomed fast movements. If you are overweight and have no previous soccer experience, it is recommended that you build up your core muscles and strengthen your ligaments and increase your agility over at least 3 months with appropriate fitness exercises before you start playing soccer properly.

Hey Luke always cool to see you at it training! I know it's probably hard but I'd encourage you to try to find a few more players to train with so you can play 5v5 or smth... Football really becomes a different game once passing becomes a central part of it. It would also be to your advantage since you can make up for your lack of fitness/athleticism with good vision and positioning ;) And about the technique I'd say always keep going with the basic passing exercises against a wall... 1 or 2 touches per pass and quick small steps from one foot to the other between passes that'll improve your technique your footwork and your fitness all in one hehe

You’ve come so far Luke. I remember your early videos, and they made me realise how much “instinct and muscle memory” you take for granted growing up in countries like the UK / Europe / South America and always having football around you, through school, weekends, evenings etc right from early age. Things like knowing how to cushion a ball with just the amount of stiffness vs relaxation of your foot.. knowing how/where to strike a ball for curl and getting height / dip vs across the ground etc.. knowing how to adjust your running stride to control a ball whilst running, etc etc - it’s just years and years of familiarity even for very basic and limited players like me! Watching you try to learn this all new as an adult for first time made me realise how big a learning curve it must be - but mate you’re doing great things and look like a real footballer now. Congrats on the weight loss, huge achievement. I also know it ain’t easy in the US to eat healthy given how much shit is usually laced through your food.

Doing a good job man, keep going at it. I had quit football at 15. After working a desk 9-5 for 4 years I felt my body and back was getting weaker with every month. Now Im 31 and have been playing at the lowest amateur lvl possible for 3 years again. I did not have any weight problems, but it stil took me about a year and a half plus a bad knee injurie to get back in form. I followed through and Now Im probably the fittest I have ever been. The feeling of playing a full game again is just fantastic, even better if you manage to win and score or assist.

Good luck on ya journey from a brit in the uk. The more you see the results the more you’ll do. Jus a suggestion are you stretching & warming up before hand? Also an idea to do abit afterwards, keep those ligaments supple. I suggested on your other channel, football is about stamina & skill. Only use weights to tone, other than that jog. Better still go to an american football pitch. Start off at the goaline & walk/ dribble the ball to the 25yd line & back ( warm up ). The jog & dribble to the ball to the 50yrd line & back. If you have anything left in the tank, doe one last sprint/dribble to the 50yd line & walk back. At this stage your not looking for record times, jus that you can push past each wall.

That’s the thing about football when you’re tired u gotta keep goin you’re constantly on edge bcuz the other team is a few seconds from scoring, but you’re improving 2v2 is demanding but such is 4v4 or 9v9 also you’re on a basketball court imagine playing on a large field with 11v11 that’s totally different u cover more ground and your pass and shots will require more power.

Awesome job! Others have probably already said this, but at 5:05 when you said your first touch was good, I would argue that it was not a good first touch. It kinda bounced off your foot away from you and you didn’t have control of it. A good first touch makes every touch after it easier, the fact that your 2nd touch was really clunky, says more about the first touch than the second.

I really like the positioning and the fact you can see the passes and where you should be even in defense you can see you understand the tactics more and more job well done. Regardless of the fitness football is pretty deceptive and it is very easy to overcook yourself in the first minutes basically you usually play the majority on the "second wind" after you felt great first 10 then died between 10-20min and then it comes back again upto like 70min when it is starting to be a mental fight :D and don't remind me those shinpains :D that's common in football even for 140punders like me :D it's because you are always on your toes it means you are doing it right :D it's like a marathon more than a sprint, so considering your earliness you will get used to that and manage yourself better but be careful about the injuries try to stretch and warm up alot before even going to play matches start slow and try to play with your mind more than your might, Also playing on grass could help alot for the impacts its much more kind because of that but it is more dangerous for rolling your ankle due to irregularities and holes on the pitch. And one last thing :D for the dribbling try to do cone exercises. Set up cones or something in a line like two feet apart (closer is better) and try slaloms with the ball focus on trying to touch and dribble the ball as many times as you could don't let it just roll between the cones (futsal ball or grass is better because it has more resistance and creates need to control the ball and dribble more.

Walking intermixed with jogging should be your #1 fitness activity until you lose a bit more weight. You are well on your way and look great. But until you are a bit thinner, high intensity and high agile activities like 2v2 run really high risk of injury. Do more static ball work. I’ve played with big men who could have the ball stick to their feet, and they are really difficult to get the ball off. Learn to get low, to bend your knees and do a 360 with the ball stuck to your foot and you’ll be a force.

Soccer is very much different from football because you have to be light on your feet to be able to have a good first touch (and not have your feet get in the way)

@thetruth46543 ай бұрын
when you are so exhausted, try to to focus on passing, and communicate with your team mate so that he tries to go on runs, you can still shoot, but if you pass the ball over longer distances your team mate, can grab the defenders towards himself, as they get closer to your team mates, you can get closer to the goal and potentially shoot or pass again, to your teammate. you`re technique is fairly decent though, you`re movement is quite good.
@sebfox21943 ай бұрын
Even though you were too tired to get back at 8:31, your team mate didn't really do a good job defending. He had an opportunity to clear the danger with his first touch, but he made a poor decision by trying to control the ball under heavy pressure in front of his own goal, and basically tee'd up his opponent for an easy tap in. Sometimes, it's better to put the ball out of play, and give your team a chance to reset, rather than trying to maintain possession under pressure in front of your own goal.

Yes you are improving no doubt, it is clearly noticeable....but playing on a hard court is very high stress for ligaments and joints even for not overweight people. So don´t overpower it due to your enthusiasm for the game. If anyhow possible play on grass...for 3 reasons it is by far more pleasant for your ligaments + joints which is the healthy reason + the ball is not moving that fast on grass which makes improving the skills easier for you which is the technical reason + and you don´t have to move that fast due to the ball is not moving that fast which makes you play longer before you get exhausted. By the way not every European is British ..no one unless Brits understand "stone" as weight unit but kilogramm everyone understands...although saying pounds is fine = 2 pounds are roughly 1 kilogramm so we Europeans including the Brits just have to take the half of your pound digit in order to convert roughly into kg which is a very easy task.. But 1 stone is 14 pounds (which I had to look up because I´m not British) that is then way more complicated math in order to convert into stone and into kg

@LFCJokke3 ай бұрын
Your passes are decent, but the first touch is not so good. The problem you’re talking about, the ball not being in the right position is because of your weak touch and the same about you touching the ball accidetally. Another tip: don’t stand sideways in the goal. You want to cover as much of the goal as possible. It is good that you’ve already learned to defend sideways while facing a defender 1v1, but in goal you want cover as much as possible and youre bigger when you face straight forward (just like a keeper) at least when you’re not able to be as flexible and bend your knees etc. as much as a defender who’s a little thinner. (No harm intended, just trying to help)

There is no offside in 5-aside football so why would there be offside in 2 v 2, Typically the rule with short manned indoor football is there is a zone around the goal area and everyone that isn't a goalkeeper isn't allowed in that area.

Huge improvement with the ball from what ive seen. You honestly just need more time with the ball at your feet. You just need to keep playing. Running around with the ball alone will help you a lot as well, just run around in the gym with the ball at your feet, and I would include just shooting the ball at the walls while running around with the ball.
