Gary, have you had a chance to try any of the RRS tripods with an anvil-30 or one of their ball heads? I only have experience with the bog death grip and a RRS tripod and it’s a night and day difference with how much more stable and how much more articulation you get with a ball head on the RRS.
@paramounttactical
@paramounttactical Жыл бұрын
Yes, I think the FatBoy Tripods and Heads are significantly better than the RRS and the FatBoy options are all significantly cheaper. FatBoy is fairly new to the market. I really do believe they will dominate competition and hunting market in the next couple of years as people get visibility and get to use them. Thanks, Gary

Thanks Gary, I don’t do any type of PRS but I hunt hog, coyote, white tail, but plan on doing some big game hunts out west. I’m looking for a tripod that can do it all. I bought an RRS with an anvil head and overall I’m really happy with it. Based off the video it does seem to be a little more stable than my RRS. I may order the fatboy and use my RRS as a glassing tripod.

Let's see the difference in how they shoot!
@paramounttactical
@paramounttactical Жыл бұрын
I did record a shooting section and obviously the Levitate and Inverted 60 far outperformed the Bog and yes, I got better groups with the Levitate. The problem there is that’s still shooter dependent and I thought it was irrelevant for the review. Or at least the results are subject to the shooter. So if someone orders a levitate and they don’t get the results (group size) I get then they question the equipment or even my integrity. Also if I post those groups, I would be accused of intentionally shooting worse with the Bog. It’s how KZbin works so I kept the review contained to completely objective results and testing.

@@paramounttactical Thanks for the clarification. Understand where you are coming from completely with that. I have one of the cheaper BOG deathgrips with the clamp style head on it. Worked hard to get my hand loads consistently around .3MOA off the bench with my 300PRC but as soon as i clamp it into that thing it (or more likely me) shoots like i'm throwing rocks at the target. I know its a recoil based issue because when i strap the .22 in there it shoots identical groups as on the bench.

@RigSMP100
@RigSMP100 29 күн бұрын
Your method is good, but I think you can expand this by isolation of the tripod system as one product category for stability weight reliability durability; the ball mount for a rifle and arco rail is another component; and then the switch to a DLLR or a spotting scope if you do the switch and the product component and measure them separately, this would be an all encompassing video for people with multiuse intentions on tripod set up

@paramounttactical
@paramounttactical Жыл бұрын
No I haven’t. And until this conversation i had never even heard of them. But after looking at their online info very carefully, from leg locks, adjustments points, to bowl design… they are an exact knock off of FatBoy. 🤷‍♂️ So… yeah. I guess I have tried them. They’re great, even if completely unoriginal and a knockoff of a great company that is actually innovative.

All this wobble with a ball head! You should really try a Gimbal like the Benro Aluminum 2 Series Gimbal Head (GH2). It can carry up to 50 lbs, and you can put the tension and balance so that the reticle stays where you want it in fractions of a second. I used both, ball head and gimbal for 15 kg Tele + Camera equipment and there is just no way that I would ever go back to a ball head on a tripod.
@paramounttactical
@paramounttactical Жыл бұрын
You understand we’re talking about shooting tripods right?
@stefanschug5490
@stefanschug5490 Жыл бұрын
Yes I do realize that, but what is the difference if I replace the ball head on that tripod that you are using with a smoother 3 axle Gimbal that can carry 50 pounds of weight? I think you misunderstand, what I am trying to say. You realize that the ball head is just a part of any good tripod and that can be taken off the tripod you are using? The ball head is not an integral part of a good expensive tripod, like the ones you use, but is easily replaceable. The Gimbals that I am talking about are not the ones you use for phones or light video cameras, usually very sensitive instruments. The ones I am talking about only have two very strong roller bearings to allow for smooth three axial movement and can replace the ball head on your strong tripod. They are purely mechanical designs and have no fancy leveling mechanism. It can take the recoil the same way as a ball head with less wobble. Too bad I cannot attach a picture of my Mongoose Gimbal here, but it would not fall apart, even if I fired my .416 Taylor attached with an Acra Swiss plate and full loads from it. I would be rather worried about my Manfrotto tripod base (not made for shooting), that might not survive the recoil. Had to quickly add this, after seeing that you took the ball head off. The up-take on these tripods is standard either 100 mm or 75 mm round plate. That is exactly how you could attach the gimbal replacement and also it'll give you much more uphill and downhill range. @@paramounttactical
@paramounttactical
@paramounttactical Жыл бұрын
@@stefanschug5490 yes, I get it. I have and use several gimbals for video and I do know some of the larger ones have been adapted to use on rifles. I’m not convinced they’ll work the same way but it is worth looking into. I’ll have to do some research. We get those bad boys motorized and a be able to remote operate like my Ronin 3 and now we have a remote weapon system. 🤔
