In reaction to the segment about "How to please all those people who like different types of games": Honestly, I don't just watch your videos on the games I like. Because it's not _entirely_ about the games, it's mostly about what you have to say about them. For instance, I was never a fan of Resident Evil, but I enjoyed your character analyses of those games. I didn't even know Armored Core was a thing, but devoured your videos on its antagonists. You got me interested in narratology. That's what I keep coming back for. Of course other people in your audience may feel differently, but I can't be the only one who appreciates that specific aspect of your work.

Same. I’ve been here since very early on. The only videos I skip are for games I’m still getting around to. He’s almost too fast!

I feel the same way. All he has to do is keep covering a variety of games, and he'll build an audience of people that want to see his content more for what he has to say, than for what game he's talking about.

I've got to say, your ending bit on finding happiness by yourself first hits home for me as I've been pulling through the mess of emotions from being left by a significant other. And you're exactly right, happiness can't be found only from another person. So be strong, everyone! Those are wise words (funny how common sense is often the most wise thing of all).

I would agree that Ghost of Sparta and Chains of Olympus add more baggage to Kratos that is ultimately unnecessary, but the final fight in Ghost of Sparta is genuinely one of the best sequences in the series. Kratos downright refusing to retaliate against Deimos even as his brother attacks swears that he hates him, Kratos going absolutely berserk when Thanatos kills Deimos (which is, even now, probably the best spartan rage scene in the franchise), and his slow walk up the mountain to bury his brother, where at the summit he questions what he’s become. I think that last section of GoS absolutely makes Kratos a more sympathetic and tragic character in the original trilogy.

33:30 Laufey definitely isn't a normal giant. Through side quests you can learn that she and Thor fought to a standstill before, she may be mortal but she was definitely very powerful.
@sovereign-of-scars43723 күн бұрын
I was about to say exactly this. Normal people do not fight the God of Thunder to a stalemate. Also him saying she's "just a giant" also got me because Odin nearly drove the giants to extinction. Giants were not normal.

I’m kinda Curious if you’re considering doing more videos on Metal gear solid? I loved your video on Armstrong and i’m really interested in what you’d have to say about charaters like: Solid Snake, Raiden, Big boss, Zero, Liquid, Solidus, Miller, Huey, Paz, Gray Fox, Meryl, ESC: I think there’s a lot of good stuff to breakdown about these characters and like I Said I love your Style of content so I’m genuinely curious If you would want to (Also who’s your favorite character from these games?)

You should do a study on the Halo series. The series tackles interesting themes such religious dogma, Religion as a power structure, the military industrial complex, child soldiers, etc. A lot of the themes come through especially with Halo 2. The games have remarkably in depth world building with many books despite being on the surface just "green man shoots aliens".

Regarding how the Odin fight could have been made better (for the record, I stil think it's a good fight as it is, but yh): I think that some kind of trap being sprung halfway through the fight could have made a lot of sense, as Odin would have undoubtedly set a lot of them in anticipation for Ragnarok. I would also love it if the fight took place over multiple realms, showing how Odin has his influence and hooks in all of them, and also how the Yggdrasil itself is splintering under the chaos of Ragnarok. We know that Odin can travel to other realms already, and shifting the fight to new arenas that he chooses would obviously put him at an advantage over us (which again, plays into whole trap part of the fight), so I think it just makes a lot of sense for his character. I also think his repertoire of spells is varied, sure, but there's really nothing too crazy in there. I think it would make sense for his magic to be unimpressive if it was Vanir (we know he didn't really master it) but for everything else, I'd expect something a bit more...impactful. I'm also not really factoring balance here, so tbf, this could be a very bad idea, but I didn't really want the spells to be harder to deal with, just a bit more flashy and destructive (flashy might not be best for the kind of character he is, but destructive? Yeah, I think it would fit).
@sovereign-of-scars43723 күн бұрын
15:30 I agree that the Odin boss fight was extremely underwhelming. This is Odin we're talking about, the guy who killed a whole primordial, fricken Ymir. With a feat like that, fighting him should've been very reminiscent of fighting Zeus. Necromancy is a thing in the Norse games and I think Odin of all people would've woven some revival spell on himself.

On FF14; there is a LOT you could break down on it; Gaius, Zenos, Emet Selck, Fandaniel... all of them are worthy of their own videos... Even Zoraal Ja and Queen Sphene are worth some time. The thing is as an MMO you'll need to put in a fair amount of time to *get* to all of them.

Hey, Brett 👋🏻 I've been watching your videos for years now, ever since I stumbled upon your "Odin - A Deconstruction of Villainy" video. I'm not sure if you were asked this question before, but will you ever make a Death Stranding Story Analysis video? I remember you saying how much you love Eldritch Horror stories and with Death Stranding 2 releasing this year, I think it'd be a perfect opportunity to create a Death Stranding video - doing so you'll be combining business with pleasure! Not even analysing separate characters, but just the setting and the message of the story. Thank you for dedicating your time to reading my comment 😊

Please consider doing deconstructions of villainy on YHVH and Lucifer from the Shin Megami Tensei series. I love this series for daring to take a more objective, alternate take on the classic Biblical story of the fall of Lucifer and the rise of Abrahamic religions at the expense of others. Both of these characters are central to the series, and their lore is sprinkled throughout all the mainline games.
@christophernugent8492Күн бұрын
If you love mythology, give the Shin Megami Tensei series a try. The vast majority of its characters are mythological figures, and the developers do tons of research to make sure these characters stay true to their mythological selves.

If you want my opinion as a viewer, I'm never really dissatisfied when you release a video on a game I haven't played or don't care much for. There's always other stuff to watch or rewatch. Admittedly, seeing as Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok are literally my No.1 and 2 games of all time, there's some bias.

Have you ever thought of making a video analysing a character by comparing him to another character, real or fictional? Here's an example: I think Odin has similarities to dr. House (from the series) because of the episode I'm watching right now. Odin is so obsessed with knowledge that he hung himself from the world tree. House electrocuted himself so that he could find out if there was any kind of afterlife. I think it would be an interesting video.

I have two things to say First, do you plan in doing analysis on some indie games? They are short and should be perfect do fill in content while the big analysis are in the oven, I recommend you to start with Hollow Knight. Second, speaking of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, you should look out for Doom story, as far I understood, Doom is just a marine soldier who made out with some demons and then some guys saw potential in him and gave him training, equipment and even a special blessing that made him the godlike terminator he's now known for.

I know it may be too late. But just in case you do a part 3 one day and want to be the last person to question you. But someone did say if you want to do what you are doing in games but with movies, but they forgot to mention anime. Or how about making a new channel that is similar to Fatbrett, but one is with movies and the other one with anime. Lastly, I decided to write 3 fanfiction about you and your channel explaining about a special specific character on both anime and games, second about a story of a man and an angel, and lastly is the Gender Problem in both anime and games and what is happening right now. If I ever finish fanfiction, how do I send it to you for you to read it in your free time and I hope you like it. Like send it to your email because i'm writing the fanfiction story on Microsoft Word. I will let you know when I finish the fanfiction story to send it to you. And when you finish reading the story, what do you think about it? There is only one way to find out.
