Joe is the prime example of "It's what my character would do" done right. Rather than doing things that hurt the players, he does it to elevate the story, such as having Wrath wanting to go into the cat mouth even if Joe himself knows it's stuupid

Spoilers for Shadows of Drakkenheim: I've been wanting more since the snippets that Joe dropped during a Shadows of Drakkenheim episode where he was hit with an Arcane Anomaly that sent him briefly back in time and Joe masterfully dropped important bits of his backstory during those incidents

I think Monty has been planning and thinking very hard on the Wrath/Bruce backstory, and it is awesome. I know how hard it is to come up with stuff like this. Important stuff that has been rumbling underneath a storyline since the start of a campaign. Its so stressful when I eventually present it to my players, but sooooo rewarding when it's received with love. Montys hard work really shows here, and Joe's role playing is superb as usual. You are all so talented, and I'm so grateful for the highest quality sessions you stream.

Can you sonically compress these? Monty has GREAT almost whisper descriptions, but the whole team can have very loud guffaws as well. Making the conversation loud enough to overcome traffic noise results in 'ouch loud' bursts. This seemed to be better with the '4 studios with microphones in the faces' of the COVID podcasts.

Everyone's commenting on The Thing homages and nods, but I wanted to also note Monte's excellent understanding of the ASOIAF universe and Lovecraftian works that inspired it. A northern castle worshipping the Old Gods that is build around a gigantic tree? Sacrifices to these Old Gods and Children of the Forest allowing survival of the Long Night. GRRM used tons of Lovecraft inspiration in his story, especially on the edges and fringes of the story - in Asshai by the Shadow, in Qarth, in Carcosa, in Moat Cailin and the Crannogmen - fish-human hybrids. GRRM himself is just combining fantasy worlds with cosmic horror worlds, so it's awesome to see Monte recognize it and do the same.

I had a thought. The origin of how magic was gained by humans in the world of Drakkenheim is reminiscent of the way it worked in Final Fantasy 6. Where humans originally borrowed their powers through eldrich beings, but the anscestors of those who held magic powers were also magic themselves. I wonder if that’s a coincidence or a subtle nod.

When Wilhelm sneak attacked, those D6's were absolute S-Tier (although to be fair, when Kelly rolls dice, they are all S-tier). Like, perfect cubes. I mean, D20's are _okay_, but you can only ever roll like 1 or 2 of them at once. Go D6!
