The fact you know how to use impacts correctly is a great sign you know what you are doing. So many videos show people trying to break bolts free with the motor instead of your arm. 😊

Thanks so much for posting this video. I must have watched it a dozen times maybe more over the last year. It particularly saved me yesterday when I was able to watch back and determine where the long bolt went just above the axle seal on the passenger side. A buddy and I mixed up a couple of bolts and I was able to determine what bolts needed to go there in your video

For anyone who is curious as to how much all this would cost at a Ford dealer to get this done. It'll cost 1,560$ (CAD) For the Slave Cylinder replacement, master cylinder replacement, an throw-out bearing + labor costs together.

Not necessary, but if your clutch is close to needing replacement it's a good idea and will save a ton of labor. We didn't change it because parts were not available otherwise I definitely would have.

If your clutch has over 100k miles on it, it will likely need to be replaced soon anyway so it's best to change it while the trans is already out otherwise you'll pay for the removal and installation of the transmission twice

@jasljacoby2
@jasljacoby2 4 күн бұрын
Exactly. That stud on the lower ball joint is a bear to remove. Don't even try. Disconnecting the knuckle from the strut is simple. Just be careful not to stress the brake line. Also make sure to disconnect the ABS wheel speed sensor first.

To bleed the clutch do you just need to open the bleeder and hold the clutch pedal down? I don’t think I saw whether you guys had to do that in this video
@StebbinsGarage
@StebbinsGarage 6 ай бұрын
It's like bleeding brakes. Have someone pump the clutch pedal a few times, then hold it down while you open the bleeder. Do this a bunch of times until no air comes out and it's bled

The clutch hydraulic system uses brake fluid so it's possible your slave is leaking. That would be my suspicion

We did not. Parts were not available at the time, and we needed to get her car fixed. It's definitely a good idea to swap the clutch if your car is close to needing one.
