Just about the saddest song I've ever heard. The musicianship and old school vibe is so on point and FJM's silky vocals bring a tear to my eye Everytime.

We first heard this on Steve Wright show on BBC Radio 2. My Mother at 82 and me at 54, My Daughter at 30 and my Grandchildren who are normally very loud. The home was silence for 5 beautiful moments. More Please.

Just heard this for the first time on Steve Wright! What a beautiful song!!! I lived in the states for a while I was engaged to a beautiful girl from Indiana. Lost her in a car wreck just before our wedding - kinda feels like that.............nuff said. The last time did come too soon .

I heard this song first time just after midnight, May 25th to 26th on Radio Eén Vrt, Flemish Radio. It touched my heart and I silently cried in bed alone. I lost also someone I thought she was the love of my life. 18 of the most beautiful period of my life of 63 years. She wanted to move on, to see other countries. But her name is forever grafted on my heart. Sometimes a true love never dies in a person, isn't it?

Totally mesmerising. I was hooked as soon as I heard it on the radio recently. What a thoughtful, sensitive and lyrical musician he is. Can't wait to discover more.

Arrangements like this are a dying breed. It reminds me not only of Harry Nilsson, but also Beck's Sea Change period, Cat Power's The Greatest period, Gordon Lightfoot and Scott Walker's more lush arrangements, and even a touch of Sturgill Simpson. Just really pristine understated songwriting here.

If you haven’t heard it, his album Fear Fun is absolutely superb, one of my favourites. Wonderful artist!

Not sure why you're singling out Fear Fun. All of his albums are excellent. My personal favorite is Honeybear, closely followed by Pure Comedy. But they're all great.

This may be the last time Last time I put on my shoes, mmh Go down to the corner And buy the damn cat the expensive food That Turkish Angora's 'bout the only thing left of me and you, mmh Early this morning, it started making sounds that say "Don't the last time come too soon? One down, eight to go, but it's no less true Don't the last time come too soon?" Mmh-hmm-mmm Mmh-hmm-mmm Mmh-hmm This may be the last time Last time I get out of bed, mhm Put coffee on and try, in your words "To show some initiative" We used to lay around here laughing At what these freaks out there were trying to prove, mhm But what's wasting time if not throwing it away on work When the last time comes so soon? Mr. Blue died in my arms, nothing they could do Don't the last time come too soon? Love's always gonna leave ya No matter what they say You only know what it is once it's gone away This may be the last time The last time I lay here with you, mmh Do you swear it's not the cat? You don't have to answer that I'll just make do But maybe if he'd gone sooner Could've brought us back together last June, mmh When the last time was our last time If only then I knew The last time was our last time Would've told you that the last time comes too soon When the last time was our last time Should've told you that the last time comes too soon Oh Ah

Been obsessed with FJM for a decade. I'm trying so hard with this new album, but it just isn't hitting for me. I hope one day I can look back on this comment and realize I was being dumb. Edit: I was dumb. I love it.
