Great video Bobby Gene. I am going to say That sometimes you are not the Father but You Are The Dad. My husband Terry helped me raise my 2 children. He wasn’t their father but was truly their dad. My adult Children know all the things that he did for them growing up and would still do the same for them now. It’s not yours and mine It’s ours. He is a great dad. I thank God that I found someone that loves me and my children. I am blessed and so are they. Happy Father’s Day Bobby Gene. God bless ♥️🙋🏻‍♀️

Omg what a great point! Awesome story and family. I have to bring that perspective up again at some point, it applies in my family as well!

Touching words for Father’s Day. My dad was very dear to me. He gave me fatherly advice and had a great sense of humor. Happy Father’s Day!

Got to love dads with a great sense of humor. Sometimes my dad and I couldn't get some things done because we were too busy 'cutting up' lol

I love and am forever grateful that my Dad chose to be my Dad when he adopted me! He never showed favoritism and is always here for me even when I mess up (and I've done a lot of messing up over the years). I wouldn't be who I am without him!

I lost my dad when I was 21....he was 60. He was a kind man with a good heart. He taught me to always come from integrity, and to be responsible for my actions. He used to say, " There is a consequence for every behavior be it good or bad......choose wisely." Happy Father's Day Bobby!

When I think about my dad I think about how patient he was and how he never really got upset about things. He would always say"oh that's all right". One day we went fishing on a friend's property that was located on a lake. And a friend offered to let us use the boat to go out as well. My Dad's friend had horses on this property. We were getting ready to get in the boat and my dad Sat one of his fishing poles on the ground while he put a hook on his other Pole, and one of the horses came up and stepped on his Pole and broke it into hahaha. He said "dagnabbit " LOL but he said " ah that's all right I got another pole." My dad was like that with almost everything and very funny. My dad was very attuned to my love of horses as well. He always made sure that I had access to one even if it was just for petting. I sure do miss my dad but I know I will see him again one day. Happy Father's Day in heaven dad.

My dad grew up very poor. He lost some siblings because they were malnutritioned. His parents (my grandparents) decided to make that long journey with their children through the dessert(s) and cross into the United States. He said they suffered much but it was all worth it. Growing up, my father (and my mother) worked very hard. They were out harvesting the crops before the sun rose and depending on the farmer....they worked until the sun set. My dad always had a rule: NEVER HAVE A CHILD GO TO BED HUNGRY. We never did feel hunger...he made sure of that. Because of the way that I was raised, I never allowed my children to go to bed hungry (regardless of the time it was). If they even whispered anything about,"I'm hungry..." I would make them something to eat. Now I do the same for my grandchildren. Thanks Dad for all your hard work, devotion to your family and sacrifices made in the best interest of your family.

You are very fortunate to have a close and loving relationship with your father. Here is an another perspective. Not everyone has that. In my case, I had a father who was mean, hit us with a belt, stood in a doorway with a rifle across his chest and told me and my brother (ages 10 and 6), if we don't stop crying, we were never going to see our mother again. (He was mad at her because she was out looking for him and his girlfriend.) He abandoned us and didn't pay child support after she divorced him. But, I learned this from him. I learned that I would never treat my children the way I was treated. Even though I became divorced after 5 years of marriage, I never missed a support payment and even took out a student loan to continue child support payments while in graduate school. I traveled 500 miles round trip to see my son as often as I could. I gave my ex all of the household goods at the time of the divorce because I didn't want him deprived of anything. I made sure he had wonderful memories from wonderful summer trips and visits with me. My son and I are very close and I treasure him every day. He knows I am available to him anytime he needs me. That's priceless in my book.

Hi Gene, (Gene!) I think all of us are aware of the less fortunate situations of other perspectives when it comes to recognizing national dates such as Father's Day, Mother's Day, and other dates that have been set aside to celebrate and recognize people, or things that most might be grateful for. I've seen some frightening Mother's Day memoirs as well in my life, and we've all seen the movies like Psycho ... (Brings back memories of Mommy Dearest, it was my first VHS video I purchased back in '83! lol) Not all are grateful for Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Christmas, or other dates that don't relate to them in a wonderful way. This video is directed hopefully at those who might have a positive response in their experience with their father...or 'dad', (Dad being...those men who have stepped in to commit the rest of their lives in being a part of a wife and kids whose kids are not his own.) But my hopes of this video was to focus on those who have wonderful experiences and memories to share to 'celebrate' Father's Day, as we would Mother's Day, or Christmas, or any other day set aside to reflect on happy life experiences new and old. I think all of us can somehow relate in whole or part to your experience, I've seen the same in some parts of my family. I'm saddened by this for you and anyone who can only reflect on such a past, none the less you are clearly a much more amazing parent because of it. Parenting is as much as teaching what to be as much as it is to teaching what not to be. Thank you for sharing with us. :)

My favorite thing with my kids was, and is, sharing music. I've played a lot of gigs over the decades but the best was the one with me and my kids. When you're sharing music you're sharing your soul. Awesome experience.

My dad just passed away end of April, This Fathers Day is going to be hard, He taught me so much, not just stuff, he taught me fishing, mechanics, woodworking, cooking, how to treat a lady most importantly, he also taught me how to stand up for myself which is my strongest trait from him... I miss him

My dad passed in 2012, lost my best friend, seems like yesterday. Your dad teaching you all those things shows how important you were to him and how much he loved you and cared about what happened to you down the road. We will always miss them, but always grateful.

You made my cry. Uncle Bobby was such a great person I miss him as well always so sweet we come from good stock I miss those days in church with him singing and playing guitar...This is my first Father's day without my Daddy as you know...it is already hard just to think about it. My Daddy taught me and my sisters and brothers to love music and taught us how to fish, shoot a gun, a bow and how to clean fish...he taught us about cars and parts and how to check our oil, air, water all those things ...I am so grateful for my Daddy and miss him so much. I miss his sense of humor.

Yes! Happy Father's Day! We are away from our father's as we had a tragic unexpected death of my dear husband's sister-in-law, who was the dear "Sister" that I got to choose! We will be celebrating her life the following weekend. We are here with my husband's brother to help him during this time. This is such a great video celebrating Dad's and Father's.

Such a nice video, Bobby! I want to remember my maternal grandfather, Leslie Meehan, the best grandfather anybody could ever want to have. Because of him, I know how to have fun. It amazes me how many people are in this world who do not know how to have fun. After watching some of your videos, I suspect that you know how to have fun. I hope you have a great Father's Day 2021!
