I read every label on foods and if I find the bad oils I don’t eat it. I actually eat mostly Whole Foods and no packaged food. I don't ever use these consciously but did not know how much these fats can cause inflammation and reduce the quality of the fat burning experience. I been doing OMAD for 2 years and cook with olive or coconut oil but will now look for hidden harmful oils in everything I buy. I'm going to check out my mayonaise first and other condiments I strongly suspect contain vegetable oils. Really helpful video I will share with people I know who are insulin resistant - both here in Australia and in the US. Yup, keto is world wide.

I can’t believe how much food vegetable oil and canola oil are in, just from my pantry the last two days… mayonnaise, baked pea chips, peanut butter, corn cakes, ham! The only easy switch here is the peanut butter to an all natural brand which isn’t too expensive. The other ones will just have to be eliminated. Is there such a thing as healthy ham?
@DrMindyPelz Жыл бұрын
It's surprising how many products contain vegetable and canola oils. Opting for all-natural peanut butter is a good choice. As for healthy ham, look for options with minimal additives and preservatives, or consider roasting your ham at home. Always check labels for healthier choices.

thank you, Dr. Mindy! How about cold pressed grapeseed and rice bran oil? I'm finding contradictory information online. Are those also inflammatory?
@DrMindyPelz Жыл бұрын
Thank you for asking! Grapeseed and rice bran oils have higher amounts of polyunsaturated fats, which can be prone to oxidation. While they're not as inflammatory as some oils, it's best to use them in moderation and prioritize more stable oils like avocado or coconut. Always consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice.

Animal fats are also very good, like good lard and beef tallow in addition to butter and ghee. I was amazed to learn of all the health benefits of lard, like it is an excellent source of vitamin D and choline.
