Even the 37 degrees is going to take some getting used to coming from the Dom V3s. I love my V3s but I’m going to try to stick with the hdo. Everything seems so close and it is throwing me off a little bit.

SnapbackFPV stick with it, after flying several more packs through them I got very used to it, also noticed i was able to pull off powerloops and other maneuvers allot cleaner than before with the extra vertical FOV....

I tried out HD3s and Attitude v4s today, 34 degrees on the attitude v4s seem right. I wonder if 37 degrees is too much.

Jestlow just my personal opinion, I went from 30 to 37, it was a noticeable difference, but a good one, it's really the oled and refresh rate of the HDO that make them stand apart.....

Just got my HDO in today and replaced my Dom V3. Absolutely love the HDO's. The field of view seems way bigger to me and the picture quality was fantastic.

nice review. The object appearing closer is likely because of the 4:3 aspect ratio. 16:9 is giving you the same amount of picture, but it's stretching it, so the object will look slightly squished and it may appear there's less vertical FOV. Using headplays i prefer the 4:3 camera on a squished 16:9 screen, but i have some ridiculous 72deg fov, so it's not a big deal, because the image is so much larger anyway. I may try these and give a headplay users POV.

You should look at my v3 upgrade on battery and strap at rayge fpv. I also added a small switch after I made video. Unfortunately a lipo popped and burned everything I had up in a fire. Over 10000$ worth of stuff in building. I will probably buy hdo,s now. Your comparison helped me to decide. Good job.

George Downing my rapidfire hasnt come in yet so that's up in the air, personally, I would do ur HDO line up as it is the most expensive, upgrading modules, and cams at a later date will be cheaper and easier, goggles are the most expensive thing u will buy but have the longest, just Imo...

how was the dom v3 as picture quality compared to a box googles. i currently can't get to hdo price wise so I know some people say the hd3 are blurry.

H Silva I went from box to dom v3, the pic quality doesn't seem as good as the box, but the immersed feeling I got from moving to fatsharks helped my flying improve 10 fold, i personally feel that getting into any pair of fatshark style goggle is best....

Thanks for the great review. Your comments are appreciated. I am a newbie and I am considering the Dom V3s as my first FPV googles, as they are cheaper than the HDOs. Would you recommend to start with the Dom V3s or save and go straight with the HDOs from the beginning? Maybe buy some used Dom V3s? Thanks again.

Dr.Vic Goggles are the most expensive individual item you will buy in fpv, but have for the longest amount of time, the v3's are great goggles, my personal opinion, go straight to the top with HDO, there's many more attributes to the HDO such as being able to run more power hungry modules now, and into the future as modules get better etc..hope that helps a bit..happy flying.....

I've got box goggs right now and wanting to upgrade to fatshark style goggs but now I really can't figure out which ones to get. I've only tried some dom v3's for one pack and yea I run 16:9 in my box gogs so I don't mind the little bit of stretch. I've been debating between aomway commander v1 and the new v2's and the dom v3's. Way to many choices these days in fpv.

Archer FPV there are 4 sure, no matter which u choose, I found once I got out of the box and into fatsharks, my flying improved double, just by going 2 a goggle, and always keep in mind future proofing, w/FS u have a module bay....

I’ve got 2yr old v3 and fly everyday. Get the latest commanders/hdo, don’t shortchange yourself. I started with quanum box goggles and still perfectly flyable today, but my v3 are just so much better overall. Worse case scenario with buying the best is easy to sell on rcgroups and get most of your money back:-) Happy flying!

I was looking for a video from someone with a Dom. v3 perspective. From all the videos that I've watched it seems like if you're going from Dom. v3 to HDO's you'll be happy. And only the HD3 guys seem to be on the fence or not like them mainly because of the 30deg screen. I've got v3's and after watching this video I'm going to break down and get a pair. what's your IPD? mine is like 67--68 or something, and I had the same problem with my sky02's (blurry edges or blurry "inside"-edges. thought about buying v3s but they also have the same kopin modules inside. so Idk what I should buy now. I need something good until the orqa's hit the market. I really don't know why reviewers do not mention their IPD's.. cause it relates to the whole to be able to see the screen-experience thing.

got the Dom v3 now. and so far no blurry edges, on neither side. I have to max out the IPD on these, but they are way better than the skyzones. maybe my Sky02's had a lens alignment problem or sumthin, or the skyzones are really just better for small faces, as the dom V3s allow the bigger face guys a clear picture..atleast in my case. but still I am really exited for what the new Orqas will bring to the table:) all guys with huge heads and wide IPD'S will have a look on these. The one thing that makes me want to buy the orquas is letterboxing:) fatshark is incapable to make this feature happen. the DomV3 is discontinued, so fatshark doesn't want to have the extra money some would pay for having the 16:9 feature. I'm sure they could sell a lot more HDO's just with that simple addition. to be honest I really hope that fatshark doesn't implement this feature so soon. then orqas plan to eat those fatsharks will suceed :) and I think they are worth supporting. There are some people who will appreciate 2 googles in one, since the V3s have a small FOV and are also discontinued. especially when theres no current real nice 16:9 goggle on the market. thats the truth , I understand costly features or big changes are dangerous, cause they could cost them alot. the trick is to enable those features, a coder could implement in like 10 minute and cost almost nothing. some people also know the advantages of OLED, fatshark seems not to. ( I know nothing about programming BTW) so take this with a grain of salt;) I think it's a crime to expect people upgrading to HDO's when they are incapable of letterboxing to 16:9.

The problem from 16:9 cams is, you have smaller vertical fov! I trying 2 16:9 cams, I hate it! 4:3 on a Dom v3 is very good!

That was the same for me, except for the micro eagle, but in 16:9 the image was too fisheyed, i didn't even try to fly it. I'm just glad i'm not the only one that noticed the loss of vertical fov. I'm guessing a monster camera?

Nice review man! I appreciate you time and effort put into this comparison! Some questions: What did you do with your FPV cameras? The switch from 16:9 to 4:3 causes the image from the cameras to be squashed. Do you replace all of them?

Brajopie I was already using a 4:3 cam with the 16:9 v3 and a 170°fov lens, just kept them the same...

Hi thanks for the comparison, I had the skyzones 02 and lost them, and I like your review because the v3 and the skyzones are the same specs so I agree with all the cons of the 16:9 and for me the 37 FOV will be an improvment. My only concern is the IPD, I have a small face so no improvements here.

Hi Flybad nice review you have there, probably one of the better ones i have seen. I would like to share with you my experiences so far and maybe i could pick up some other pointers from you. I went and bought the HDO's the other day and I also am upgrading from the Dom v3's. I usually have my IPD setting both in as narrow as they can go and with the Dom's I have sharpness across the entire picture but with the HDO's I am struggling a little, not a lot but definitely when I am adjusting my camera settings and I am looking at the text some parts are usually out of focus and then the corners where i have my osd is also a bit blurry. I guess its hard because everyones eyes are different but i am guessing if i could adjust the IPD little more narrower it would be fine. Apart from the that the image overall quality is amazing, the refresh rate is hugely noticed and makes a big difference. I Just wish i could make them as razor sharp as my Dom's

Everyone's face shape is different so its hard to say, in the v3 I struggled with blurry edges or the ipd crossover blur in the middle, with the HDO I find I just dont have that, my osd is in the top left, it does blur out a bit, but I just have to situate the goggles down on my nose a bit further and all is good, try different up and down placement with ur goggles, and maybe move it osd tx ro where it's more visible for u, thank u for the comment. Im happy i got these dom v3. I like the fov. Im coming from aomway commander v1. Although the aomway fit my face better. The fatsharks are kind of narrow for my face so the thin foam is the best option but i get light leakage in the nose. Whats the best foam upgrade? Theres afew vinyl around but dont know which is good. Theres banggood, nextfpv ultimate package. I want it thin but better padding? Any suggestion?

Jan Domingo newbee drone makes an awesome one. But it is thicker, the pleather one is comfortable, and thinner, not sure where 2 grab it, hope that helps a bit....

Zingfpv...Much better, the aomways feel very cheaply made, if they were priced way lower they wouldn't be that bad, and not being able to change modules is a big no 4 me, in my opinion, Fatsharks are worth every penny.......

Great vid and awesome talking points i am so on the fence between the hd3 and hdo i have focal v2 they are 640 by 480 res and 32 fov with no dvr factory installed and i just dont know what to get but i do like the 37 fov of the hdo i think 42 fov on the hd3 would be to big for me i have wonkey eys. I went from spektrum focals (the diversity, non dvr version) with true-d 3.5 to the HDOs. Massive, awesome difference and very much recommended. I tried a HDMI converter for AV in for sims in the focals and it sucked, way too bright and no way to fix. The HDOs on the other hand, excellent and easy! Just need to work on a 4:3 resolution for my laptop to best experience it. I did find the sweet spot for IPD and position is smaller in the HDOs though, pretty much the trade off for increased FOV. I wouldn’t go any smaller, and wouldn’t go HD3s at all now. Just buy them, so many things are better than you have I can’t think you’ll be anything but happy.
