I just finally started talking with my therapist, and let her know of my alcohol use since 2011 after coming home from deployment. And now suffer from alcoholic fatty liver, but have been afraid to even try to claim it

I've used your services, which are excellent. Have you done research or have a medical doctor who has done a nexus for fatty liver secondary to IBS?

Thank you for the opportunity! I do not know any doctors who write nexus letters. You may want to check with your treating doctor. Also you can always follow up with the medical expert you used with Prestige at no cost

I’m VERY interested in hearing how this went for you. I presently have a VA claim for IBS-D, NASH, lower back pain & I’m at 80% right now. I worked with a lot of toxic chemicals in the USAF, like Trichlorethene, MEK, Paint Stripper & many other solvents.

I had an ultrasound that showed moderate hepatic steatosis when I was in service but my claim was denied. Im obese and have fatigue symptoms. I had to go to the ER cause I was having abdominal pain in my right side. My decision letter said service connection cannot be granted for a laboratory finding without a diagnosis of a chronic disability or disease. What did I missed, blood work? At the bottom of the letter says; Favorable findings identified in this decision: You have been diagnosed with a disability. VA Hepatitis/Liver conditions exam showed a fatty liver diagnosis. Im very confused

That does sound confusing. Have you followed up with a legal professional on this?

I was diagnosed with NAFLD stage 2 in June 2022. I was just denied my claim. My husband is active still so I have Tricare. The liver clinic was able to see I had elevated enzymes starting 2 years in my service about 13 years ago and no one every told me. How do I get this service connected since this start long before now?
@prestigeveteranmedical Жыл бұрын
You can ask your hepatologist/gastroenterologist to write a note about it likely being undiagnosed in service based upon your abnormal labs if he agrees. Does that make sense?

Love your videos and I appreciate the valuable information you share. 👍 Q: I was exposed to CARC paint in 1982. Among the sinus and pulmonary problems I have already be diagnosed with, my CT chest scan report reflects “hepatic steatosis” and “several sub-centimeter cysts.” Could the toxins in the paint I inhaled have caused this? Service connected?
@prestigeveteranmedical Жыл бұрын
That would be tough to say. Typically Hepatic steatosis is related to fat deposition. Have you discussed this with your GI doctor?

I was just denied, I had NaFLD and now I was just told I need a L-transplant. The VA ignored my many labs with elevated enzymes. Since I was still AD. I’ve never been a drinker, and I thought I was healthy. How do I re-submit this for an Evaluation where they will actually accept it. I am 90% as it is.

How true is that VA denies claims for veterans who get nexus letters from out of state? Dis you see this when you were an examiner? Thx.

While there isn't a specific written policy outlining that, and it actually contradicts VA policy, it would be advisable to seek clarification from a certified legal professional

I have stage 4 chronic liver disease linked with hepatic encephalopathy as well as alcohol induced neurocognitive disorder. I have a claim filed just don't know my chances. Everything matches the va requirements. Also chronic right cerebral infractions and central pointing melinosis. Thoughts.
@prestigeveteranmedical9 ай бұрын
I am sorry to hear this sir. I am not really sure it just depends on how/why you believe it is related to your service and what your evidence shows
@shawnraverty15009 ай бұрын
Well I didn't realize that the VA is going to expect a 20 year old to have three strokes while serving. Nor should they believe that a 20 year old would consume 30 years worth of drinking in 3 years. The findings do not have be service related. It already mentions that unless I wasted 2 years of my life getting MRI's and CAT scans from the VA for fun.

It just depends on your individual circumstances. Many veterans show this in relation to weight gain as in intermediate step if it applies

Im already 80% but have recently been diagnosed with NA fatty liver disease. I believe its from the burn pits that burned right next to our fob in Iraq.
