Hi Paul love the videos .just one observation I made.you kept referring to the electronic temp sensor as an NTC .The sensor would be a PTC sensor.If the resistance goes up when applying heat it is a PTC sensor.If resistance goes down when heated it is a NTC type .not trying to be smart just letting others know the difference. Keep up the great work as the vids are very informative. Thanks again.🖒

Great video as always Paul, you lay things out simply enough that anyone can understand them 👍. I've been in the industry a long time, but still find your videos enjoyable.

I feel slightly humbled, I've always tried to make the videos in a way that the general public can understand sometimes I do think I'm getting to Tekky though

Hi there thank for your videos they have been helpful. I have an odd one. Replaced a customers fan element she called back to say the thermostat was not working. I discovered current between the plug going into it and the chassis. Is it possible that a short could be bypassing the switch completely? It is the older type of thermostat not ntc.

Could be selector switch problem We now have Live Q@A's weekly on our live show, see our home page kzbin.info for the next date

I have a baumatic oven which started overheating, the thermostat light goes out as it should do but the oven continues to heat when the oven is set to fan with top and bottom elements but seems to work if just set to bottom element and fan. I've replaced thermostat just to test and made no difference. If left it will heat up to the extenet that the whole oven turns off until it cools.

It's a baumatic BODM984X/e if that helps

I have a 9 year old GE Profile oven and the control board (relay) is faulty. The part is around $300 but guess what? It is no longer available and discontinued. So now I need to buy a new oven.
@How-to-repair Жыл бұрын
Sometimes it can be just a relay on the circuit board so it's worth inspecting them but you may also find it helpful to put your model number into the likes of eBay and see if anyone has a secondhand board for sale. Hope you had a good New Year please remember to subscribe to the channel as that helps us. glad we could help you @artstech this is for you kzbin.infoe432SAb2g08 please remember to subscribe as that's what keeps this channel going. The kelvinator single stove gets on and bakes and after some time it switch off by itself, then after some time it switch on again , what might the problem
@How-to-repair5 ай бұрын
You described it a little bit better here and I understand what is going on a little bit better if the oven is cutting out completely and then coming back on say 20 minutes later this may be a thermostat called a safety cut out kicking in for safety reasons of course this might be because the cavity between the inner oven and the outer oven is getting too hot. You might want to check, if the cooling fan system inside this cavity is working if fitted as I do not have the model or wiring diagram I'm unable to know all the components in the oven

Again the kelvinator single stove plates have the same heat at setting of 1,2,3,4 but 5, 6 they get hot why.
@How-to-repair5 ай бұрын
again without the model I do not know which thermostats are controlling the hob plates the old type system used to just heat different coils so 1234 for example would only be using the inner coil but 56 maybe using two coils again without the model number and knowing what type of thermostats are in this? It is very difficult for me to answer. Feel free to use the contact page on the website with all the relevant information.

I had a friend who’s oven glass door smashed , he then got replacement glass for it and it happened smashes again. I noticed the element was flush with the door once closed, so the element would be touching the glass I don’t know how that’s possible. Do you you think that’s a possible cause ?
@How-to-repair3 жыл бұрын
I have seen this happen a few times it is normally when the wire shelf or any cooking tray is touching the glass the transfer of the heat sometimes causes this problem

@@How-to-repair ah I never even thought of that. Thanks il bare that in mind for the future 👍🏻 🪛

Why didn't u test the thermostat the same as the NTC sensor
@How-to-repair5 ай бұрын
if I am understanding the question correctly the thermostat is a set of points which cut in and cut out at a certain temperature. The NTC sensor does not physically control anything it only sends an ohms reading to the device that is attached to then there is normally a relay that will control whatever it is controlling. I hope this helps you @education9135 please remember to subscribe to our channel as that really helps us kzbin.infoe432SAb2g08 Thanks, Paul 👍
