The buns & bread are so beautiful! Growing up, Mom & Grandma always made Greek Easter bread with colored eggs inside. Great memories!

I haven't had home made hot cross buns since I was a kid, but looking at your tray of buns right out of the oven brought back memories and I can even remember the wonderful taste! Thank you. I look forward to making these.

I lived in Vicenza and worked in Verona. I travelled to work and back home by train and each day we passed a factory where they made a traditional Italian Christmas Sweetbread called Pandoro. It was great with hot chocolate. The smell from the factory would enter the train cars and leave everyone hungry. @@MarysNest

What a treat to see you today and a fabulous bonus to have two awesome recipes! Both looked so beautiful. I’ve never seen whole raw eggs cooked in the oven before and most certainly not colored ones resting in a nest of bread. It looked so fun and festive! Very fun video, thank you for sharing. 🤗

My mother used to make hot crossed buns. I kept up the tradition for many years while our daughter was growing up. I should really try to do this sourdough version. The Easter bread looks like a wonderful idea. Thanks.

I am VERY tempted now to try the hot crossed buns! I haven't fully homemade them in years! I've been half-homing it by buying frozen bread dough and kneading in the citron, raisins, spices etc. ... now to get some sourdough starter from my egg lady. In any case, your tips are both interesting and appreciated! ♥

In England we bake them with the cross already on. When baked we cut them in half, toast them and spread on plenty of butter

I bake a German Easter bread that is similar to your Italian Easter bread. I make a sweet bread dough, braid it, and make a ring with it. I add the colored raw eggs to the center of the ring. I brush with an egg wash and add slivered almonds to the top. The bread ring with the almonds are for Christ’s crown of thorns. The eggs (representing new life) are a symbol of Christ’s rising from the tomb. Your Easter bread is beautiful.
