David lighting up at the mention of Jacques Tati’s name is contagious. A total one-off of a film genius…in fact, both of them.

Ever since I watched Rear Window 20 years ago, I think that movie is so cozy, a great movie!!

I also didn't like the end of Rear window but that's just because the Simpsons did it better and I was expecting a twist that never came. Still so good..
@artofsam Жыл бұрын
I agree I don’t hate it but the Simpsons actually got it right, the peeping-tom character Stewart plays shouldn’t had been the heroic figure at the end after being found to be right about his neighbour being a killer. It made more sense from a morality stand point that Stewart simply made false theories based on what he saw eavesdropping like Bart did. The film basically condoned the big-brother concept of being on the look out is caring rather than a disturbing infringement of privacy.

I guess the idea about swirling the ice in the tumblers might have been to sell the idea of being in a heatwave, trying to keep the drink cold.

I thought Hitch had the tumblers moving because he loved the visual of glass, ice, and a liquor swirling around. It is shiny and reflective, even festive. I enjoy when film does something just for the beautiful effect. Hitch and Lynch both do this often in film while they tell you a gripping story.

Lynch hates the "hokey" ending of Rear Window while his films have arguably more cheesy endings done on purpose hah
@mattiadei840211 ай бұрын
Some of his films have "cheesy" endings only for distract audience but I know what you mean. But The Elephant man, first 2 twin peaks seasons, Fire Walk With me, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive and The Return are not cheesy at all man!!! ❤

@@mattiadei8402 Agreed. You forgot Eraserhead though, that ending is insane. But OP has a point when you think about the ending of Wild At Heart lmao

The happy ending of Blue Velvet is similar to some Hitchcock films; Strangers on a Train, North By Northwest.
