Favorite Modules Tier List | Digital Combat Simulator | Stream Replay

This is the Stream Replay of the completely bias "Favorite DCS World Module Tier List" that Tricky_Tricker, Moosey_Moose, 104th Bullet and I created live on my twitch channel. When making this tier list we also did a viewer poll at the same time and added the results to a second tier list to see how the community felt about the modules and how far off we were in our assessments. Making these has been a lot of fun and it has been a blast having you guys join in on stream to voice your opinions so thank you for all your support!

Regarding the F-16 and F/A-18 flight models, C.W. Lemoine is a real-world fighter pilot who has a popular YoutTube channel. He flew the F-16 for more than 1,000 hours including a combat tour in Iraq. He then transferred from active duty in the Air Force to the Navy Reserves where he flew the F/A-18 Hornet. I’m sure he has a lot of hours in both fighters doing mock dog fights, so he knows how both of these aircraft fly when doing BFM and ACM. C.W. flies the Hornet and the Viper in DCS and sometimes he does charity KZbin broadcasts of DCS dogfights against other real-world fighter pilots. In his videos, Lemoine constantly rails on the DCS flight models for both the F/A-18 and F-16, specifically in terms of their BFM/ACM flight dynamics. He says the F-16 and F/A-18 in DCS are don’t accelerate fast enough, lose too much speed when performing maneuvers, don’t turn fast enough, and don’t pull enough G’s. Every time I’ve watched one of his dog fighting videos against other real World pilots, who flew either then F-16 or F/A-18, they always concur with C.W. in regards to the DCS flight models for the F-16 and F/A-18 being undercooked.

On the aerobatic planes, please note that there IS a good reason for these aircraft being in DCS in my opinion. DCS does aerobatics FAR better than any other sim IMO, so for those who are interested in that type of flying DCS really should be the go-to simulator, as odd as that is. MSFS 2020 has terrible flight models so far! For flying "outside the envelope" nothing beats DCS. I favor combat stuff most of the time, but when I just want to fly a flight sim for aerobatics or a helicopter DCS is my sim despite that it has nothing to do with combat. I constantly recommend DCS Yak-52 to flight sim pilots who have no interest in combat just for how good the flight model feels when you throw it around.

The Skyhawk is also in a payed modul level, I think it deserve a Place in the Tier List.

Huge injustice for Su-25t, its easy to pickup for beginners, has outstanding laser guided missile and SEAD loadout or rockets, can take a lot of punishment and yes, its free. In my book, its S tier, although I am spoiled by high fidelity modules. I also feel like J-11A should be A tier, putting it in same tier with SU-27 is an oversight because its Fox3 capable, carries the R77 missile. On the REDFOR only it and MiG-29S have em. JF-17 is ok where it is, its a poor man's F-16 I guess, what sets it apart from F-16 are the cruise missiles, but that alone is not enough to push it tier higher, lot more stuff needs modeling. Big respect for Deka Ironworks and their commitment, Jeff is in almost every patch notes, without the hype around it.

I think you missed the "Favorite" keyword in the title, none of the rankings really determine whether the module is a good or bad module, just that it's our favorite

I think you nailed it on your list. Your S list contains all of my favorites and the aircraft I would recommend to those that don't have them. I would put the MiG21 at the top of the A list and is also a must have. I spend most of my time in the UH-1, P47, F5 and F14.

I'm biased as I was on a carrier with Hornets for almost 4 years - gotta be S tier. Viper is also S tier - once it's as complete as the Hornet. :)

I love the Tomcat but I feel the sound is average at best. Every time I fly the ED modules Hornet and Viper I'm blown away by the sound. I would not put the F-14 in S tier quite yet.

For the F-16 I EASILY put it in TRASH tier, the F-16 in its current state is a disgrace to the F-16. It is SO incomplete, missing pretty much everything, the radar is way over performing, its just missing litterly everything. The flight model is pretty shit, damage model is pretty shit, datalink is completely barebones. Its just not good in its current state.

Its kinda like Jak over at hoggit, he is a huge hornet nerd and the F/A-18C is a disappointment for him because of how wrong alot of things are, most of the community doesnt realise the things that are wrong, are actually wrong so they enjoy the aircraft at face value, which is great that they enjoy it.

So now I post what I find fun and interesting... probably a change of direction for the channel but this isn't a job, just a hobby, I don't really care where it goes. I'm not looking to be a KZbin sensation, never was, just do what is fun and that's enough for me.
