Hey Gemma! I'm 62, I have rosacea and I work outdoors here in Southern California's brutal sunshine and smog, so broad spectrum mineral sunBLOCKs are the only way to go for me. Bliss brand Block Star SPF 30 and Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 are the tinted products I use for the one-layer primer, moisturizer and sun protection factors. I've had BCCs removed from my face and lip lines, so SPF in lip products is so important to me, thank you for reminding all of us about this! My favorites for color are Neutrogena's Revitalizing Lip Balms, and Almay's Age Essentials clear Lip Treatment SPF 30 has twice the product in its fat tube than any other product I've seen, and a nice soft moisturizing core. Great products all! And yes, I have a collection of wide-brimmed hats and I wear bandannas draped around my neck under my collared, long-sleeved shirts and only long pants and closed shoes whenever I'm outside. Hi Gemma...Great informative video as always. I have to agree on your top pick....La Roche Posay Anthelios UVMune 400. I have just finished my first bottle....I liked it so much after a few applications that I bought another two bottles of the stuff lol. I have always felt uncomfortable with skincare, spf and foundation...but not anymore. No pilling....not expensive....and the most important of all, not a chore to apply every day! Glad your Mum approves too.

Hi Gemma I’ve always been a ColourScience SPF fan and still love it, however tried the Ultra Violet SPF 50 ++ you recommended in another video and it’s brilliant. Blends like a dream. Feels like silk on the skin. No pilling under makeup. Totally impressed and keen to try the tinted version as well which I am hoping will replace foundation which can tend to look cakey on mature skin.

You and Mum chose my favorite, too...La Roche Posay. I can attest to the fact that it doesn't bother the eyes...at least not mine. Most SPFs do. It works so well under makeup, too.

The Summer Fridays is my new holy grail. It is very slightly drying so you definitely need to moisturise before applying and in the evening after cleansing. But it's lovely, not claggy, not greasy, makeup goes on well. Doesn't sting eyes. I also have the Hello Sunday eye SPF it's ok but it's slightly oily and can pill a little.

My SPF is also La Roche Posay: Anthelios 50+ (PA4*, UVB + UVA, anti oxidant hidrating lotion, best choice for my very dry skin in a very dry city (Madrid) But, Gemma: what about Ultra Violette SPF 50+? My favorite is Canamake from Japan. SPF 50 and it doesn't give me watery eyes and nose. Blends beautifully and white glow, non-greasy and fragrance free. I can get it in Canada from Canadian cosmetic sites. I have tried almost everything as well.

My favorite sunscreen is from Avene, the SPF50+ Ultra light Fluid. In Belgium, Avene is reknown like La Roche Posay. It is ok for a daily use on my super sensitive skin. It is formulated for oily skins, it also protects against blue light and it respects the ocean life.

I hated both the Garnier anti-dryness and anti-age, they pilled up like crazy. With or without make-up. The Garnier Ambre Solaire Super UV Face Fluid (dupe of lrp uvmune) doesn't. Love that one on it's own or under make-up. Still the La roche posay is my daily pick also together with Altruist.

I know it's not a sunscreen but seeing you comment on Eucerin I feel the urge to praise their dual serum for hyperpigmentation. It has made a huge sun stain I had on my forehead completely fade away! I just want to say a big F U to the FDA for not approving more sophisticated filters, we are stuck in the dark ages here in the states! 😩 this is why I stick to the mineral sunscreens simply because I can’t trust the UVA protection of the chemical filters here! Plus most of the US approved filters sting my eyes.

I love Japanese sunscreens more so than Korean ones as a lot of them are water and friction proof, while it’s rare for Korean ones to be even water proof. My holy grails are the Allie crono beauty clear and the Shiseido Anessa sun milk. In the UK I like Ultraviolette lean screen and Dr Vanita’s Inzincable.

Personally, I love the Bodyshop face suncream SPF50++++ and the Nivea sun lotion spray SPF50 4 star UVA which I use on the face, no problem. They spread evenly, do not pill and sink in quickly. The Bodyshop one is very similar but better than the LaRoche Posay one (they changed the formula). In case you wonder, I have tried at least a dozen brands, including Korean ones and high end ones before coming to this conclusion. Maybe I should mention for the UK residents that I also love the Tesco Soleil Q10 for the face, SPF50 5 star UVA protection and very cheap.

Great video, as always! 🙌 Regarding the La Roche Posay Anthelios UVMune 400 SPF 50+ Invisible Fluid, I heard some people say it leaves a slighty yellow cast, which bothers some. You didn't mention anything about that, so I assume that's not the case for neither you nor your min?

I’m very surprised you don’t get the yellow cast on your skin. Currently I’m stuck with the exact same 3 bottles of the La Roche Posay Invisible Fluid which I bought on offer from Boots and I can’t use it! Every time I apply it my face is covered in yellow like paint. I have yellow undertone so I thought I’d be fine when I read other people’s reviews. Not the case. The fluid is very watery, no oily slip to it like before, it attaches itself to the skin and goes darker around the nose and mouth. I always make sure my skin well prepped before -I exfoliate regularly, apply serum and cream but the SPF yellow fluid seems to latch onto the skin without any slip. It’s not drying either. Definitely leaves yellow cast on my skin.

Can't remember if it was about the yellow cast but I think it might. I thought they had changed the formulation because now it's highly recommended by Gemma and other reputable KZbinrs, but your comment makes me wonder... I think I'll give the Instree one a try soon then.

Iv just bought the isntree spf 50 and it's probably the best iv tried this year and iv tried a lot!! I think for tinted it's Australian gold. I'm trying to find a tubeing mascara can anyone reccomended a good reasonable priced one. Thank you x

I use Altruist 50 SPF, Bioderma Aquafluid and Uriage Bariage 100 sunscreens, and never deviate from them. They just work, they don't have any alcohol (that is a huge criteria for me, as I am on tretinoin), never had trust issues with them, and all three have extra high UVA ratings. I always enjoy sunscreen reviews, but I just stick with my trusted ones. I absolutely hate Garnier and La Roch Posay- their products here in my country are insanely full of denatured alcohol- like first and second ingredient. For anyone who says "I am not worried about alcohol in sunscreen", I would love to tell them what alcohol does to the skin surface when it is hit by UVA and UVB...
