The Justice Department has revealed the FBI grossly mishandled the sexual abuse allegations against former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar.
More than 150 women and girls accused Nassar of sexual abuse over a 20-year period.

Yes, there needs to be no statute of limitations for this. It took me many years to report my abuser, because I didn’t feel safe. Luckily for me, my time hadn’t run out yet and he was charged.

If a sports doc said they were doing this particular procedure on my daughter I would have walked my daughter out the door and reported him immediately. Gross mishandling is an understatement. Having no statute of limitations is wading into murky waters. I understand the reasoning of it, I also understand the reasoning of having those limitations. First, proving or disproving abuse is very hard to do of there are no witnesses. Basically he said/she said scenario. Fast forward 10, 20, 30 or so years, unless there are multiple people who can corroborate the abuse, how can the abuse be proven? I sat on a jury for a trial about sexual abuse of a minor. Only 2 to 3 years had passed , but the young girl was very compelling with details, plus there was corroborating evidence. I can see how difficult a case would be 30 years past the time frame. Would a conviction happen just because a person said it happened? Plus, how is money the motivation for statutes of limitations? I wished the lawyer would have elaborated.
