FEAR is something inherently HUMAN!

Again a more personal view on a topic that in my opinion lies behind many challenges of our time. Fear is something inherently human. It makes us vulnerable since we all have it in us and thus can help us to build connection and grow. Courage grows out of it if we go through it. But even if I know all of this, it can still hit me like an tsunami and blurr my mind.
Since we spend a few more days in Buchenberg with Zen Master Hinnerk Polenski we talked about this inherently human thing: the fear of bring afraid and how to grow beyond it. English subs!

When my son was little, I would tell him to feel his (scary to him) feelings. Sit with them. Then let them go. If they didn't go away, then we would need to find a way to make changes in the world.

The tea is prepared and drunk with so much awareness. Especially the way he looks at the tea, brings it to his forehead and then drinks it wholeheartedly. So much presence.

I've never seen someone enjoy a cup of tea that much in my entire life.

That's because we never encounter people who are that conscious in our entire life. These kinds of people have to be sought out. They mostly exist out of sight.

You are a lucky man to have such a great teacher. He reminds me of a modern day Alan Watts. The mindfulness he practices when he's about to drink the tea is amazing. He gives thanks to the tea. He slowly picks up the glass. He cherishes the warmth of the cup in his hands. He examines the contents. He slowly raises the tea and gives thanks. Then slowly sips the tea. Then relishes the flavor in his mouth as he finally swallows. You can tell your master is always present in every moment in everything he does. Very impressive and very difficult to cultivate such presence in the seemingly trivial things in life. Loved it. Teaches us to truly appreciate every little moment in life no matter how insignificant it may feel.

I often times come back to this video just to watch Hinnerk watch drinking tea. It reminds me to be calm and humble.

KZbin did it's job correctly and recommended this. I picked up my 1st camera 7 months ago and haven't looked back since. My try hard footage looks very similar to yours just by sheer personality I believe. We have a passion for people and the stories that go untouched from the unsung heroes. I look forward to digging through back logged videos and future content!

Danke für das Interview! Hab ich gern geschaut. Beim nächsten Mal würde ich mir wünschen, dass es keine Musik bei Gesprächen gibt. Das lenkt ab und ist auch hier zu laut finde ich.

Very interesting video, thank you for sharing it and for adressing this important topic. Buchenberg is such a wonderful place and even just being there can help you to find more clarity and experience less anxiety. One little thing from my perspective: Talking about feelings around fear, I feel like we can get lost in translation very fast. I think it's very important to distinguish between fear, anxiety, worry… in English, vs. Furcht, Angst, Sorge... in German. I would at least say that the "Angst" you talk about in the video has much more to do with "Anxiety" than with "Fear". What do you think?

There is the beauty of music and the dumbness of Guitars...(especially when the music distracts from the words spoken). Okay, if you are on Valium anyway, it might help to sedate you even more.

He's not saying only humans have fear. I think what he means is that fear is an essential part of being human so we shouldn't be afraid of it.

I absolutely love meditation and yoga also. Tai chi is also good. But I'll never understand why someone completely disregards their own culture to adopt a foreign very different one.

@@rambhakt6753 why does it baffle you? You don't need to change completely and become a totally different person. Just do the meditation and the practices. I know that will change you, as it has changed me. But why all the cultural stuff.
