Worth noting, but there was originally pushback with the bread slicer kill. They didn't believe that a bread slicer could really do that to a skull, so they brought a watermelon to test it. They were fully expecting it not to work, but it surprised them and it did.

Yeah, especially after the muffin tray block and cake splat, seemed kinda fun. Then suddenly you get a brutal as fuck kill. Also, just realised it kinda echoed the opening girl with the accidental book block and escape moments only for her pleading with her friend to kinda kick you in the gut.

I may be the only one to feel this way, but Simon’s and Kate’s deaths were really unexpected for me. They made it so far to the end of the movie, both escaping death multiple times, only for them to die a good 15 minutes before the end of the movie But I will say, Kate’s death was honestly really creative, I’ve never seen it done in any horror movies I’ve seen before. Simon’s death was less creative but it was still unexpected

Same, that was one of my favorite parts of the movie. They lulled us into thinking the main cast had plot armor and then all bets were off. And I genuinely thought her lil bro, Sam, and Deena were all fair game at that moment.

I’m fairly certain I’m alone with this, but I was hoping they’d kill Simon off cuz I couldn’t stand his character. Kate’s death was unexpected, but both of their death’s were completely avoidable by the rules the film had established just a few scenes prior. Their deaths came off as just shock value to me, and while it definitely worked and held conversation amongst viewers, neither felt warranted to me
@MrDamsky100
@MrDamsky100 2 жыл бұрын
@@famousthaneus9810 nope I fully agree. They felt like they were there purely because they needed to have some kills rather than actually working as part of the story. Plus as cool as Kate's kill was it's kind of overly mean for a film like this? She could be a bit of a prick at times but I'm not sure I got much satisfaction out of her being brutally murdered right before the end

She saves them only to die slow painfully cause no one saves her despite time for them to come and hear her scream as she's being held in place anyone could sneak up on him and get her out...why do movies shows books always do that? ...why save someone usually a main character who won't die anyways later either if that means your next a few minutes later or next film or later on next scene...like I hate that trope...kill the mains let the pals live for trying to save someone someone should save her and also I hate when someone dies saving someone in horror that will die anyways too...it's so annoying...

Yeah and I think teenagers in particular will be a little more joke-y about stuff like this both to put up a brave front (I'm not scared guys!! im joking about it bc I'm sooooo not scared!) and because *some* aren't quite at an appropriate level of empathy yet :/ not to hate on teenager or anything, I just remember so many people in my high school making jokes about serious world events/tragedies in ways that ranged from tasteful dark humor to edgey mcedgelord shit. but maybe that was just my experience with 2000s/2010s era teenager life. hopefully less assholes making tasteless 'jokes' these days lol (but I doubt it)
@peeperooni-and-cheeza

Also to add to this I feel like sometimes teenagers have a sense of being immune to danger. Unless they are direct friends or related to the people involved in tragedy, they'll feel like it couldn't possibly happen to them. Of course they can make jokes about it because it would never ever happen to them!! /sarcasm

It may not be seen as scary as a whole or respected by horror fans like some of the classic slashers but that death is scarier more tension filled and perfectly gory plus kinda ironically a dark comedy moment with also good timing than most kills in those films that go for maybe one of those feelings not all of them at one time and try too hard too attain it but fail..bravo for nailing all of those feelings which makes it iconic stick with tich you and sad...a top tier 2020's horror kill for the decade already.....a kid being stabbed and killed that way just hits different....it's haunting

Considering the fact that *he’s* the one who sent the killers to Sam, he might know that the only way for the killers to stop chasing the targeted person is to die, and it’d stay that way even after they revive Cool little detail :)

@tympestbooks1727
@tympestbooks1727 2 жыл бұрын
@@bloodblazin9 I can think of a couple reasons she'd be scary without having a ton of screen time. The big one is that she's the only killer with a specific verbal thing, the others might grunt or roar as they're attacking but Ruby Lane sings constantly. You hear her coming before you see her, which is a nifty tension builder and makes her feel a bit more unique compared to Skull Mask and the Camp Nightwing killer who have obvious bases in other movie slashers. The other thing I can really think of is that there just aren't a ton of slashers that are female. Women are almost always on the slashee end of the knife rather than being the killers, even to the point that Pamela Vorhees gets forgotten as the killer in Friday the 13th part one. So having a fairly small, fairly normal looking woman as one of the killers could make her stand out a bit thus upping the perception of her as scarier. There's also that what's scary can be super subjective, but that's the boring answer and I like it less for that

I saw R.L. Stine do a small panel at a convention a few years ago and he was asked about what scares him - something I’m sure a lot of scary book authors get asked. His answer was that a while back, he and his young son were at a car show and his son accidentally wandered away from him. It was only for a minute and his son was totally fine (I think he even said his son was like “dad I’m okay what are you freaking out about”), but he said it truly scared him. I found it a pretty wholesome answer.

I love this franchise. And it progressively gets better as the you get into the other two movies. They did a great job with their characters and actors to play the roles, i grew emotionally attached to characters and was devastated when Kate and Simon died.

Part 2 was my fave, but the 3rd part was a close 2nd. I didn't mind part 1 and loved the music, but omg they don't let you breathe. They go from one song to the next so fast it gives you whiplash.

Im glad they actually made realistic deaths like when you get shot or get stabbed in the head your eyes roll to the back of the head unlike when movies have it so they just close there eyes when they die good job to the visual effect team
