Note that a dog that is showing some of those signs does not necessarily mean that it is in a state of fear. A dog showing calming signals can also try to tell you that it does not like something or use it to calm itself. How to read dog body language strongly depends on the given situation.

I adopted a pitbull 6 months ago and he was so abused and traumatised he would literally attack speeding trucks head on....or anything else for that matter. Now he is the friendliest & happiest guy in town. He has one problem left; when the doors in my house rattle in the breeze he get's totally freaked out. This video is right; Ignore the fear and be confident yourself, that's what example they go by. Don't feed that fear by attention, petting and cuddling it.
@legendsdogtraining4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. I also apologize that it's taken me so much time to respond! I do want to clarify - the video discusses being neutral and not petting. It also says to avoid direct eye contact and direct body language. This recommendation is directed at people who trigger fearful behavior in a dog. For example, this could be a friend, visiting family member, in some cases a family member that lives in the home that the dog is not yet comfortable with. The more neutral these people are the easier it is for the dog to feel safe and comfortable in their presence. However, a trusted caregiver should definitely offer guidance. In most cases, it's most constructive for that trusted person to move the dog farther away from a trigger so that they can observe the trigger from a distance where they are able to calmly observe. The dog in this case is learning a practical response to a stressful scenario. In this scenario, I don't think that petting would necessarily feed the fear, but I also believe that there are other more constructive responses to build a dog's confidence. I think this is a great discussion topic and I really appreciate you taking the time to write in. Best, Alyssa Rose www.legendsdogtraining.com

A dog owner who is relaxed does not need any training...the dog knows it allready haha :) The Dutch police dog trainers were just caught out...beating them with rubber hoses....freaking out and giving their dogs all the stress. I walk right upto them and they just disapear. Bunch of lazy bastards they are...can't even walk their dogs. They just throw them out so they can take a crap and right back in the cage they go. They have their youtube channels showing off how their dogs bite suspected people. A lot of training and stress going on. I am like....you don't even dare come near me you frikking cowards. We’ve had my one year old Shih-Tzu for almost two months. He was a bit skittish around me, but instantly bonded with my wife. Unfortunately she fell ill and has spent the last two weeks in a hospital and rehab facility. She should be coming home soon, but meanwhile our dog gets very nervous when I try to pet him and often hides under the table. I know I have to be more patient and try some of these suggestions, but it’s very discouraging. He exhibits a lot of these characteristics like licking his lips, yawning, and pacing. He often will even hide under the kitchen table when I enter the room.

Thank you. Best vid I've seen on this subject. I've always had rescue dogs. I avoid small dogs because of this issue. You have no idea what a dog has been through, They can get PTSD just like people. Add the human tendency to breed a dog for looks, rather than temperament, and you get unbalanced dogs surrendered to kill pounds. Neuter, people! And choose dogs based on disposition, not looks or breed! Just saying.

Hey! When working with a fearful dog it’s important to be systematic in your approach. It’s easy to “poison” food by offering it in situations that are beyond your dog’s comfort level. If this happens you’ll notice your dog shows less interest in food. Make sure you work within your dog’s “comfort bubble.” Take it slow. Keep it simple, and take it step by step. I have an online course that might be helpful to you. If you’re interested you can check it out at www.basetrainingmethod.com let me know if you have questions. Best, Alyssa Rose

Hi Dolly! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch the video, and comment. I apologize that its taken me a bit to respond. I don't have a video about signs of abuse. I can say that very often there are dogs that are prone to fearful behavior due to poor genetics, and inadequate socialization during critical periods of their development. Fearful behavior is not always linked to abuse. That being said, a couple of indications include a dog that has a strong emotional response to a stern word, a raised hand or a broom (or other similar objects). Behavioral responses could include a dog that growls, snaps, cowers, urinates, or runs away in response to these triggers. If a person suspects a dog was abused - they should focus on actionable training steps that can help the dog develop positive coping strategies, and improve trust, communication and confidence. Thank you again for your kind words, and your great questions. Very appreciated. Best, Alyssa Rose

My dog is acting very strange. All of a sudden she seems scared of something or extremely stressed. Her ears are tilted back in a way that shows fear. Her eyes also show fear. She costantly changes her position even after she gets comfy. She seems to be scared, but not towards me. She finds comfort in me because she jumps onto my bed and lays there for a good 4 seconds and then moves her position. She doesn't find interest in eating or drinking water. My mom does this where she wraps my dog in a blanket and fills a baby bottle with warm milk and force feeds my dog. It is very strange, but she recovers from this weird state. My dog loses this behavior after a day but it always seems to come back in about every 3 weeks. My mom takes pills, but makes sure not to drop any on the floor. No constant bug spray or anything dangerous for my dog. I'm really confused and hoping for a little help.

Melissa Thorn hi Melissa, start a “behavior log.” Have a journal on your kitchen counter and each time there is an incident like this - write down these notes: the date, time, location (where was she when you first noticed this change in behavior), the behavior and body language you observe, and also any other factors that might contribute to stress: rain, construction, noise from landscapers. Sometimes anxiety is linked to “trigger stacking” meaning, it’s a combination of factors. The dog might tolerate a trigger when it occurs by itself, but when it occurs in combination with other mildly stressful events the dog can be pushed over threshold. The other thing that I would keep an eye out for is underlying health issues. Rule out any underlying health issues that might be causing her discomfort. If you do think it’s behavioral, I would encourage you to do some training that helps build better communication and trust. I have virtual classrooms that might be a good fit. If you’re interested, let me know, and I can send you more info on that. Either way, keep me posted on how she’s doing. Best, Alyssa Rose my website is www.legendsdogtraining.com

My dog recently has gotten more aggressive and I dont know what to do. Full story but I'll try and keep it short. Hes (poodle schnauzer mix) always been a bossy dog but good. One night I hovered over him with both my hands on the bed and he got extremely defensive and growled very aggressively. I had heard it's good to show them their bites arent a threat so I balled up my fist and put it in his face. He growled VERY intensely and in my confidence I flattened my hand and that's when he got my hand in his mouth but stopped short of biting me, I pushed forward and out my hand to the back of his mouth and he began to truley bite me as hard as he could. He bit up my pointer enough to leave a couple punctures and make it numb. He was in constant defense mode that night and eventually he got on the floor and in his bed. I put his stuff on the floor (normally sleeps with me). He was punished by me ignoring him and moving him out of my room for 2 days entirely. No entry allowed. Than I let him back in and a day later, he mildly lunged at me when I walked toward him and went to pet him. A few days later I'm playing with him and in a tug of war he took the toy and when I went to go grab it from him to keep playing, he snap at my hand. I dont know what I can do to help this if anyone has any advice or training tips please help me. I have anxiety where I once had love for my dog but now I'm so scared whenever I approach him because I just dont know if hes gunna bite my hand again. I really need guidance.

Hey! Thanks for watching my video and taking the time to write in. There is a lot of advice on line about using confrontational methods when a dog exhibits aggressive behavior. This advice might be well intentioned but it can easily make a bad situation .... worse. These methods will erode trust and undermine your ability to effectively communicate with your dog. Here's what you should do instead: Rule #1 Respect warning signs (hard stares, growling, snapping). Give your dog space in these moments. Rule #2 Don't use verbal or physical reprimands to correct warning signs. We can teach dogs not to growl or snap, but if anything this suppresses the behavior and creates a powder keg. Verbal or physical corrections can (in some situations) create a short term fix, but exacerbate the underlying issue long term. Rule #3 Management. Make note of the situations that are triggering the aggressive behavior and try to create an environment or routine that minimizes the amount that your dog is able to practice these aggressive responses. If your dog is resource guarding your bed you can put up a baby gate by your bedroom door. If your dog is resource guarding toys you can let your dog play with the toys independently. Don't test. I'm going to say it again, don't test your dog. Sometimes our curiosity gets the best of us but its truly a good idea to avoid putting your dog into situations where they are likely to practice aggressive behavior, the more its practice.. the more habitual it becomes... the harder it is to work through in training. Rule #4 Train Using Positive Reinforcement. Positive reinforcement training engages your dog. It teaches them to love learning. It improves trust. It improves communication. It minimizes stress responses that would otherwise feed into the resource guarding that you're currently seeing. It also reduces the necessity to use force. You're going to need to set your foundation first. I recommend at least a solid 3 weeks of rock solid foundation training before trying to use training in situations that have previously triggered aggressive responses. Rule #5 Keep a behavior log. Be a scientist. Make objective observations about your dog's behavior and what's triggering these responses. The better you are at predicting the behavior, the better you will be at preventing aggressive behavior, the better you will be at implementing an effective training plan. If you're interested - I offer online classes (starting a few weeks) and skype consultations. My website is www.legendsdogtraining.com Thanks again for taking the time to write in, keep me posted on how things are going with your dog. Best, Alyssa Rose

When i adopted my Pitbull he was shaking. So afraid and abused. I knew right there some tender loving care was needed. He bit me a few times. Totally tried to take over the house. Now he is not needing any of that. Just a happy dog. People are like...how is that possible? Brucie finally has a good home??? If i were to give one advice to prospective dog owners it would be; just be your normal self and do not stress.

I adopted 2 rescue beagles in March. We have always had beagles. They are a male and female about 2 year old siblings. The female is afraid of me. She is afraid of leash walking. She is reactive to noises movements, but most of all me. She is bonding with my husband and young adult daughter but not me. I am desperate for help as she will not go outside for me. Can you help with this?
@legendsdogtraining4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ellen, this will be a slow process. Here are a few tips: Do training with the male. 5 minute sessions 1-2x’s per day where you are working on simple exercises, with high value food (boiled chicken). The goal here is to do training that the brother loves, let the sister observe these training sessions. In these training session I will place a scrunched up blanket about 3-6 feet away from where I’m sitting and if the sister shows any interest in the food you will deliver the food by tossing it into the crevices of the blanket. Not from your hand! We don’t want her to feel any pressure to engage. Avoid feeding from your hand, direct eye contact, direct body language. I personally don’t even talk to dogs that are nervous with me as this will usually trigger a fearful response, since talking usually means we’re making direct eye contact. Don’t think of the training in terms of “can I get her to approach me” instead you want her to be curious about you. You want her to watch you from a distance that feels safe. If we coax a nervous dog to approach and then we stand, or sneeze or someone else accidentally makes a loud sound ... the dog will be even more scared because of the close proximity and this will cause a serious set back. Take it slow, give her space, encourage her to take space, model calm, healthy interactions with the brother. Hope this help. Let me know if you have questions. If you’re interested, I offer online classes. I have one starting soon that is called “calm connections.” This could be a good starting point. I would do the class with the brother and let the sister be a passive bystander. Here’s the link to the classes if you want to check it out: www.legendsdogtraining.com/live-classes/

Someone abandoned Daisy on the side of the road. I picked her up and adopted her. It took me two weeks to get her to let me pet her without moving very slowly. She would scream like I was beating her. She's still super skittish. The other day I dropped a pillow as I was getting up from the couch and it landed on her and she screamed and hid in the corner until I coaxed her out. Poor baby. She's a happy girl now though. Just a little skittish.

I've seen many of these and it's sad to see. No dog should ever be fearful of a human being. You have to gain their trust first and that can take time. Sometimes leaving them alone at first is the best. I let them come to me first. Sometimes it really pays to be very patient.
@legendsdogtraining4 жыл бұрын
Hi Amy, Thank you for watching. I agree 100%. The more people try to rush the process with a fearful dog, the longer it will take. If a nervous dog jumps up on the couch, or sits by my feet, I just let them rest next to me without forcing unwanted attention. Many of these dogs are very sensitive to being touched, handling - petting isn't always the peace offering that people believe it is. Patience is key. Thank you again for watching. @legendsdogtraining6 жыл бұрын
Emily Long Hi Emily! Thanks for watching and taking the time to write in. Some of these behaviors can be ambiguous, so it’s all about looking at the big picture. If your dog is showing clear signs of distress in specific contexts, it’s definitely worth the time to consider what is triggering stress and address it. When we continuously dismiss stress signals it can lead to more serious behavioral issues, lead to a loss of trust in our relationship with our dogs and even lead to physical ailments. If you’re interested in setting up a phone consultation to discuss your dog’s behavior patterns, your behavioral goals, and create a training plan you can go to www.legendsdogtraining.com and fill out an assessment form - and I can contact you to set up an appointment time. Hey! Thanks for watching my video and taking the time to write in. First of all, know that management is key. Respect your dog's comfort level and minimize the amount that your dog is put into situations where he/she will go over-threshold. Second I would begin working on building confidence in easy situations first. That means - do training that your dog loves (it should be positive reinforcement based) during the day in your living room. Once the training is well established you can slowly begin integrating the training into situations that might trigger some stress/ fear/ anxiety. I have online classes that provide step by step training exercises that can help dogs work through these types of challenges. @legendsdogtraining5 жыл бұрын
Stev Cass First off, just have to say that that’s really sweet that you shaved your beard for her. You clearly really care about her. I have a few quick tips that might help 1. Be neutral. Neutral body language and behavior is one of the best ways to create a sense of trust with a nervous dog. 2. Your girlfriend can do some training exercises with her (with high value food) whenever you first arrive home to create positive associations with your presence. Positive reinforcement training in general is a great way to build confidence with a fearful dog. 3. Never use food to coax her to approach or interact with you, this usually backfires and makes a dog more conflicted. 4. This is a process.. I wouldn’t expect any overnight changes. I’m not sure how old she is, how long you’ve had her. But in general you should be thinking more in terms of months, than days or weeks. If you ever want more support in training you can go to legendsdogtraining.com I have online courses coming up for fearful dogs. I also do Skype consultations. - Alyssa Rose

Hey, Thanks for watching and writing in. How long have you had your dog? How old is he? A few tips. 1. I have a video about handfeeding to build trust that you can check out. 2. If petting is clearly causing stress (as indicated by submissive urination) I would try to be less hands on. Being with a dog, just sitting with them, is a great way to build your bond. Sudden onset of anxious behavior (pacing, loss of appetite, dilated pupils) can sometimes be a sign that there’s something physically bothering her. It’s worth scheduling a visit with your vet. If the vet doesn’t find anything wrong than you might consider signing up for one of my online classes that teaches relaxation exercises. @legendsdogtraining5 жыл бұрын
rossibel cardona Hi, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Many dogs go through “sensitive periods” or “fear periods” as they move towards social maturity. It’s possible that this is what’s happening with your dog. A lot of times trying to make your dog “confront” their fear (ie coaxing dog to approach the thing that makes them fearful by using a ginger bread trail of food, or pulling them closer on a leash to “show” them that there’s nothing to be afraid of) makes it worse. It’s possible that this fear will pass if you give her a week or two. If you’re interested, I have an online course for behavior modification. If you want to check it out go to www.basetrainingmethod.com It’s a five week course that can help to address fearful, anxious, hyperactive or aggressive behavior. My dog, when trying to be pet, usually goes down to the floor until you stop the petting. What does this mean?
@legendsdogtraining5 жыл бұрын
It sounds like your dog might be nervous. One good test is to see what happens if you pet for 3-4 seconds, stop petting, and take 2-3 steps back. Does the dog follow, stay where they are, or walk away? If the dog stays where they’re at or walks away that’s a good sign that they want space. Some dogs will follow, but don’t necessarily want to be pet, they might just want to be in close proximity. How old is your dog? How long have you had him/her?
@someperson25004 жыл бұрын
I think it is safe to assume some dogs just don't like being treated like pets. They don't want pettings, or if they do they only want them a certain way.
@legendsdogtraining4 жыл бұрын
Some Person I think that we should always be striving to respect our dog’s individual preferences. That being said, signs of fear, stress or anxiety should not be dismissed. If a dog is struggling to adapt to their home environment, their daily routine, or struggling to develop trusting relationships with people that they see on a regular basis - people should take the time to create a training plan. The goal in these cases is to minimize their dog’s stress/fear/anxiety, build confidence, and develop trusting relationship with people that the dog sees on a routine basis. Chronic stress ages dogs prematurely and makes them more vulnerable to disease. Chronic stress compromises a dog’s immune system and leads to many compulsive behaviors like licking paws to the point of injury or anxiously chewing and digesting non digestible items. This might not apply to you, but I am a big advocate of helping fearful dogs as much as we can, not to conform to our idea of how a dog should behave, but because it leads to a happier and healthier life. I hope you are having a good morning. Thank you for watching my video and writing in. - Alyssa Rose www.legendsdogtraining.com

Hey, thanks for watching. Physical and emotional signs of distress can be similar. But I f this is an extreme departure from normal behavior I would definitely assume that there is something physically bothering her. Check with your vet first. Hi! Sometimes dogs show what's called "appeasement behaviors" when they are young or when they are first introduced to a new situation. The dog might come across as being "excessively friendly" - lots of jumping, licking, rolling on their back. These are nervous behaviors that can come across as a dog being friendly, but the reality is that it is more like the dog is waving a white flag and saying "I won't hurt you, please don't hurt me." As the dog matures, or adjusts to their environment, the same stress responses can present differently - barking, backing away, cowering. The best thing is to be neutral, and patient. If a nervous dog jumps up on the couch next to me, or sits by my feet, I just let them be. The more neutral you are, the easier it is for the dog to develop trust. If your sister has any interest - I have online classes starting that go through foundation exercises that might help. If you're curious to learn more, here's a link to those classes: www.legendsdogtraining.com/live-classes/ I'm not currently offering the "Fearful Dog" class, but the "Calm Connections" class would be a good fit. Is giving space to a fearful dog the only valid option in all cases? Is there cases, where willingly ignoring the dog's fear and breaking that space he is asking is actually not such a bad response? I am thinking this because for some people sometimes it can work to push them a little off that comfort zone. And also bcs one of my dogs when I found him, I sort of had to do it in order for him not to end up picked up by a kennel and possibly put down. (Worry not he is MUCH better now).

MEELO925 Hi thanks for watching and taking the time to write in the comments. Whenever I’m unsure of what’s triggering a change in an individual dog’s behavior or body language I begin to keep a behavior log. A sheet on the refrigerator or a note book on the kitchen counter - dedicated solely to the dog. When the behavior occurs you can write down specifics about the dog’s behavior / body language, the date, time, location, and any smaller triggers that could be “stacking” and causing an accumulation of stress/anxiety for the dog. For example, construction on he street outside. the sound of the vacuum cleaner, the sound of the dishwasher, maybe the dog becomes stressed when you begin doing things they signal that you’re about to leave the house. By writing it down you’ll be able to become more objective about the behavior, and you might also have a better idea of how to help her become more relaxed in the presence of her triggers. Thanks again for watching and writing in. @legendsdogtraining7 жыл бұрын
Anaconda Dreams, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I appreciate it. what kind of dog do you have? With clients that have dogs that are fearful or become sick when traveling in a car I start off by creating positive associations with the car. I use high value food to teach the dog to jump in and out of the car, like it's an agility game. I will also feed the dog for settling in the car on a special training blanket. By building up positive associations with that space even when the car is stationary, I find that the dog becomes less scared when driving. I would not try to use food before or during drives - if your dog is very scared it will likely make her nauseous, and possibly even throw up. It will take time, patience is key, but 5 minutes of training 2-3 times per week can make a difference over the course of a month or so. Good luck! - Alyssa Rose, CPDT-KA

Hi Alyssa, thanks so much for answering. She's a Jack Russell, one year old, and startet being scared all of a sudden. (first months were o.k., now she's just panicking). She jumps in, but will start shivering and denying even the best treats, the second she's in the car. If I drive for 5 Hours she will stand, shiver and hyperventilate for 5 hours. After the drive she's thirsty as hell, as she's salivating a lot. First she was in a box, but when she startet defecating out of sheer terror I changed to a dog safety belt - the feeling she can move somewhat "calms" her a bit. With calm I mean she doesnt poop in the car anymore, apart from that she sounds as if she'd die from a heart attack any minute. I will definitely try the agility game. As a Russell she loves jumping and catching. I will throw a ball into the car, maybe that'll help for a second or two.... The minute we're out of the car she's all good mood, luckily... Thanks a lot, Sophia

I typically spend a minimum of three weeks working on a training foundation in the dog’s living room before I start any training with behavioral triggers. I usually start off by reinforcing a dog in a stand, sit or down on a mat or on a dog bed or inside an open door crate. I will then systematically discuss incorporate triggers into that basic training starting with very low intensity and working up. Not only does this process help dogs build confidence, and reduce stress but it will generate strong communication and trust. If you have any interest in a step by step program go to basetrainingmethod.com I just launched a five week program that could be extremely beneficial for dog’s exhibiting serious signs of fear. Thanks again for watching and writing in. Best, Alyssa Rose, CPDT-KA

I already have two females tenneessee 10 month age. They almost fix everything about walking down street with leash in down town (where actually we live) except for the surprise people or unexpected loududed noises. It is almost nothing but considering the fact that they are a hunting breed I am trying every day with a lot of patient, thinking both are going to makeing.

Patience is key! At 10 months old you are likely to see some ups and downs. It can be very discouraging but it's also completely normal for adolescent dogs that are experiencing a lot of physiological and hormonal changes. Hope all things continue in a positive direction. I don’t have the money to contact a professional but my neurotic dog gets used to people after a while. He does bite if a stranger gets too near him, so I make sure he can meet them at his own pace. He also barks and howls at any nearby person, and attacks other dogs. But the few people he trusts, he is very sweet. I got him at the shelter, almost a year ago, he would not come near people, and is very afraid of tall people, men, and deep voices, so I assume he was abused before I got him. But I’m a middle schooler, so I guess I wasn’t scary to him and he didn’t bark at me at all. I don’t know how to help him calm down around other people though ∧( 'Θ' )∧

my puppy has many of these signs so we bring her to a dog park and she’s getting friendlier to people
@legendsdogtraining5 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for watching! How old is your puppy? One thing to be aware of is that the social behavior you see at the park might not generalize well to other situations or environments. For example, your dog still might be fearful of people entering your home or if someone approaches her when you are out with her on leash. If I were to give one piece of advise it would be to make sure people give her space, avoid direct eye contact and direct body language. Essentially, you’ll be asking people to ignore her. This is important because it will give her the time to become comfortable with people without them forcing unwanted interactions and triggering fearful responses. It’s also the opposite of what most people will want to do. I’ll be posting a blog about this and other tips for fearful dogs in the next few weeks at www.legendsdogtraining.com

In that case, I would like to ask a question: Do all dogs love tummy rubs? I put my hand on her tummy and immediately her hind leg shoots up like she wants it. But then when I start to rub her tummy, she stares at me and gulps. Does she like it or is she uncomfortable?
@legendsdogtraining5 жыл бұрын
[REDACTED] great question! Puppies or adult dogs that roll on their back can do it because they enjoy tummy rubs, or because they are nervous and are offering an “appeasement” behavior. Essentially saying “I’m nervous, I need space.” One way to test this is to pet her for 3-5 seconds and then step away.... see if she follows you, stays where she is or moved back in your direction for more petting. If she’s nervous with unfamiliar people (or anyone she doesn’t know very well) I always recommend giving her space. Hope this helps. - Alyssa Rose

Three days ago I decided to shower my dog that I’ve had since he was three months old (currently is 1.3 years old) and he almost bit me so I yelled at him and said no! ... after this incident he has been very scared of me. I did not hit him just yelled at him. I have tried to be friendly by offering to play but ignores me. When I sit near him he either walks away, paces, etc. I offer him his favorite toys but growls at me if I get to close and then will snap at me and try to bite me (he almost bit me when I did that today because of how close I got with the toy). Since my brother was there while I was showering my dog, my dog feels threatened by both of us. Today, my brother had to clean the back yard so he went outside and when he was almost done, my dog snuck up on him and bit him on his leg two times because my dog felt threatened by my brothers presence and my twelve year old brother started to cry because of the pain and blood cause by the bite. There are many children in our household and we are afraid this will happen again with anyone else since he did not give off any warning of the bite like growling. When I try to interact with him, he at least gives offs warning like growing to tell me to go away. I did not have the intention of this occurring since I thought yelling “no” was not causing such harm.He has never acted this way but it has not worn off in the last three days. I’m stuck. He used to be playful and listen to my commands like sit, lay, roll over, jump, give me your paw, high five, etc. I just want my dog back. I can’t afford a trainer so my mom might make me take him to a pound. Any suggestions??? Sorry if there are any typos because I’m using my old phone to type this, thank you. By the way before me showering him, he was the best, super playful and always let me put on a leach in order to go on walks(now he will bite me if I attempt to but on a leach to go on a walk), play with my family and I, etc. If you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it since I don’t have many options but to listen to my mom and take him to a pound. Having a dog was my idea so I have to take care of him, like I already walk him, shower him, feed him with the food I bought(not my mom because it’s my dog), and train him to do the basic dog commands. All I have money for is the food and trash bags and toys... etc.. I don’t have options so please give me advice. Thank you for reading.

__Mauricio__ Hey Mauricio! Thanks for watching and writing in. I would attempt to use high value food (cut up pieces of chicken or beef) and sit down on the ground with your dog for five minutes a day to feed him. He doesn’t have to do anything (sit or lie down or go to the blanket). He doesn’t even have to eat out of your hand if he doesn’t want to. You will just toss piece by piece on the blanket. Make a routine of this. It’s a great way to build trust. Don’t try to pet him, or reach out to him. Make it easy for him to feel calm and comfortable in your presence. Hold off on bathing him for a bit, or doing other things that might be overly stressful. The most important thing is to create a foundation of trust. Keep me posted on how he’s doing. Best, Alyssa Rose, CPDT-KA

@legendsdogtraining6 жыл бұрын
Maulan Wong Hi Maulan! Thanks for taking the time to write in. What breed of dog do you have? Some sight hounds, like whippets or greyhounds can carry their tails lower in a a tucked position. Otherwise, I would say that stress (a dog that is in pain, feels sick, is experiencing generalized anxiety, or that is worried by the environment at large) can also result in a dog that tucks the tail. Thanks again for writing in. Best, Alyssa Rose, CPDT-KA legendsdogtraining.com

My dog used to be so fucking happy. Then she went with my uncle and then I watched this video when she came back and she has ALL of these except biting, moving away, pacing. She usually just stays in a corner and whenever me and my family get into an argument, she runs to a near bathroom and hides, and it’s always bathrooms for some reason, even though he’s locked her in there for hours, and once, her owner dies because of overdose and she just...sat there for hours without food she barked and barked for help then....yeah the sister if the dead person came around and yeah got saved. Her other owners outside of the family have abused her too, my FaMiLy member even taught her how to fight, the illegal to death fights, cause she’s a pitbull. And I knew something wasn’t right when she came back at our house, now he’s doing this with another dog...
