And if you're trying to get sober and you slip up, you want to apologize, but you've used up all your apologies. You hate yourself, and you hate the situation you're in, and you hate your addiction. You don't feel deserving of anything good, and you don't care if you live or die. If you're dealing with addiction or alcoholism, get help. @@mattlawrence6077 Music doesn't have to and shouldn't have to be technical or super experimental as long as it elicits some kind of feeling and emotion. It's not about whether or not it's "skillful". The simplest songs can be the most compelling sometimes. Not to say that a really intricate, technical song can't be incredibly moving too. But to disregard the band and their music and pretend that you don't know it just because it's a little bit simpler sounding now is pathetic. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean they sold out. After what Spencer and the others have been through, it's insulting to suggest they'd sell out. They're different people now and it makes sense that they might not wanna make the same style of music anymore. Heaviness doesn't equate to a song automatically being good. A great song can be heavy, but if that's what you base your judgement of quality on then you're entirely missing the point of music as a whole.

Erase me has received so much unnecessary hate for illogical reasons. It’s honestly a fantastic album in which they push themselves in many new musical territories. Just because they went for a more melodic approach doesn’t make them sell outs. As far as the backlash for them not outwardly identifying as a Christian band that should not be a surprise considering disambiguation was filled with those types of themes. Just because they don’t identify as a Christian band doesn’t mean they don’t have certain beliefs individually as bandmembers. Even if some of them don’t believe anymore that’s their personal choices and it’s pretty safe to assume that things change within a 20 year span of a band and in life in general. In the end this album is going to have probably the most playback ability than all of them in my opinion and I’ve been listening since 2006.
