Knowing the story of what went into this album, and knowing what Spencer and the band have dealt with since the last uO album, this song takes on a whole new meaning. When you struggle with addiction, it takes over your life, and nothing else can make you happy except your drink or drug. And if you're trying to get sober and you slip up, you want to apologize, but you've used up all your apologies. You hate yourself, and you hate the situation you're in, and you hate your addiction. You don't feel deserving of anything good, and you don't care if you live or die. If you're dealing with addiction or alcoholism, get help. Make those first steps; they're the hardest ones, but they're the only ones you'll make alone. Thank you for making this album, guys. Your music has helped me deal with a LOT of shit over the past decade, and I can't thank you enough for that.

Hypotonic it’s not about the words or message. It’s about the band we all grew up with as teenagers.. where the band was and could have been. Instead they sold out and sound like shit. I was hoping for disgustingly heavy or back to their roots. Use to be one of my favorite bands. Now they are on the radio.. so ill pretend idk them. Radio rock is not skillful music.
@legoshi59255 жыл бұрын
@@mattlawrence6077 Music doesn't have to and shouldn't have to be technical or super experimental as long as it elicits some kind of feeling and emotion. It's not about whether or not it's "skillful". The simplest songs can be the most compelling sometimes. Not to say that a really intricate, technical song can't be incredibly moving too. But to disregard the band and their music and pretend that you don't know it just because it's a little bit simpler sounding now is pathetic. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean they sold out. After what Spencer and the others have been through, it's insulting to suggest they'd sell out. They're different people now and it makes sense that they might not wanna make the same style of music anymore. Heaviness doesn't equate to a song automatically being good. A great song can be heavy, but if that's what you base your judgement of quality on then you're entirely missing the point of music as a whole.

It serves as an establish to restore, every prophet wears a target, every kingdom crumbles, divinity of the sins. But we speak true and are both brutalized by our truths. Virtues exist in pursuit of the one that killed us, but we have not reclaimed that which we made, for we have wings to mend." The last bit is so hard to hear cause the music starts to rev up but this is what I got. Also in an interview regarding the song Aaron said this: “It's a glimpse into what it’s like to feel alienated, and to need something you shouldn’t need, to feel trapped and isolated and to feel like you have to keep returning to that place to find solace-it’s a vicious cycle.” All of it is some deep stuff, but that is Underoath and that is why I always enjoyed them.

This whole album is great. If you haven’t bought it yet, do it now, its a great batch of songs and it supports their numbers so they keep making more. It 10 bucks, most people spend six bucks on a coffee and 3.50 on a muffin for breakfast. Buy music not muffins!

E eu de 2005... Foi uma das primeiras bandas cristãs que conheci. E eu já passei por algo semelhante a eles de me desviar pelo caminho, mas faz quase um ano eu voltei. Mas enfim,achei esse álbum muito ruim. O melhor álbum e o they re only... E não é pelo fato de não serem mais cristãos, mas isso tá longe de ser underoath. Música ruim

Erase me has received so much unnecessary hate for illogical reasons. It’s honestly a fantastic album in which they push themselves in many new musical territories. Just because they went for a more melodic approach doesn’t make them sell outs. As far as the backlash for them not outwardly identifying as a Christian band that should not be a surprise considering disambiguation was filled with those types of themes. Just because they don’t identify as a Christian band doesn’t mean they don’t have certain beliefs individually as bandmembers. Even if some of them don’t believe anymore that’s their personal choices and it’s pretty safe to assume that things change within a 20 year span of a band and in life in general. In the end this album is going to have probably the most playback ability than all of them in my opinion and I’ve been listening since 2006.
@Yukovskii6 жыл бұрын
wow man, melodic or pop sound isnt a problem. there are many bands like fall out boy, linkin park, simple plan and others who make new albums without heavy guitars, screams and other stuff. Problem is that underoath new album just boring and untalented.
@Yukovskii6 жыл бұрын
oh, i forgot enter shikari of course. guys have almost nothing in common of their old albums, but they are still brilliant.
@Evo1ve36K6 жыл бұрын
They wouldnt receive quite as much backlash if they changed their band name. Mostly everyone identifies them as a Christian band. I don’t really care about their personal beliefs.. But when you use your old band name that you don’t even identify with anymore why keep using the name??
