U know for what it’s worth, I think Cecile and Justify were afraid to die cuz they knew they would have to face the music. They had power, yes but who gave them the power? I wonder if the deity that gave them the power would have liked that they murdered two innocent children to pay back their boss? I wonder what the deity would have done to them once they passed. Maybe that’s y they always transferred their souls to new bodies after that. To avoid facing the music. They just kept racking up the death toll to avoid the consequences.

Modern horror films are pretty crap and rarely scary. Cant think of the last film that was scary, but this film always spooked me out. Think it's the fact that its voodoo and we dont know if it's real or a myth. Brilliant film and scary, would like more back story on Cecile and Justify though, a spin off film would be perfect.

I'm still suspicious about that part. Cecile claimed her an justify were victims, but she smells strongly like unreliable narrator. *SPOILER "The children said it was their fault, that they had wanted to learn." That was Justify and Cecil trying to intervene. They wanted to stay alive and used hoodoo to their ends, but they aren't half as ghoulish as the racist lynch mob dancing over their bodies. It was ultimately Thorpe who murdered the innocents that night with his own hand.
@miroslavajuarezramirez6322
@miroslavajuarezramirez6322 4 жыл бұрын
I considered that, but I actually think playing "it was our fault" kind of kids was more of a "remember daddy, we're forgiving, we're good samaritans" line to guide Thorpe into thinking "those evil beings wanted to corrupt your innocent and pure (christian) children". They said that because they knew the Thorpes would lynch them all the same, and also as a way of washing their hands from their part in it, after all, they gave the parents the chance to save themselves (by "forgiving" the "servants"). But yes, Thorpe and the others did the murder and that can not be argued. I wonder if they learnt the truth, would serve them well (and I am guessing Cecile and Justigfy did eventually revealed the truth, most likely when they [Thorpe and his wife] were about to die).

@miroslavajuarezramirez6322

@ I'm guessing your question goes to the comment above mine, ' "The children said it was their fault, that they had wanted to learn." That was Justify and Cecil trying to intervene'. They mean intervene by *stoping* the lynching. The children (actually the Cecile and Justify) suppossedly tried to stop the lynching saying "it's not their fault, it's ours". Had the Thorpes listened (or cared), their children would have lived and maybe told them the truth, but they didn't and brutally murdered their own children.
@miroslavajuarezramirez6322
@miroslavajuarezramirez6322 4 жыл бұрын
@ ah yes. I meant that's what the comment above meant. I don't think that myself. In fact I believe they only said that because they knew the mob would do the lynching all the same, Probably planed it ahead that way. Why do the ritual the exact night all the poweful whites in the town were reunited in the house if not?

1. The acting of the protagonist is mediocre at best. 2. Despite the good story, it was not directed very well (camera work, sound effect and so on). 3. There really weren't that many horror elements. I honestly think it was closer to an action movie than a scary one. 4. The old lady and the paralyzed man are the only good actors. Everyone else were extremely subpar

Modern technology. Social media was not around to the extent it is now to hype Skeleton Key up. A lot of what makes film receive a lot of attention is people speaking about it. Get Out didn’t have to rely on old fashioned marketing or promotional tactics like the Skeleton Key did. A lot of the promotion that Get Out received was from Memes created by fans.

You have to think historically. These servants were probably part of the Jim Crow laws, meaning they might have been “free”, but they had no money or land after being free, so many stayed with their ex owners, worked for them in exchange for living arrangements aka new aged slavery or “crop sharers”. So, mama and papa had probably been in this family for their while lives, being passed down from their mothers as black children were whatever their mother was, so a freeman and woman slave could have children, but the children would be slaves owned by her owner…. So those children might be innocent now, but will more than likely grow up to be those “white supremacists” as we call them, but that was your average white person back then. See how they were drinking and partying as the bodies burned. This happened with every lynching. A man wrote it, saying how people in the front would take pieces of the body like teeth and hair as memorabilia. These were just average people going to these public lynchings. It would be a party. Trains would have reduced prices to go see a lynching live……. Children would go. So, mama and papa probably saw this racism behavior being passed down through the generations.
