As a Chinese from Malaysia, i will pick Uncle Roger's version because that's how we cook fried rice here BUT i would say Gordon Ramsay's version are more flavourful. The sambal all ready has msg and strong taste. Then the rendang paste consists a lot of spices and aromatics. It's funny 3 of them didn't mention anything about the flavour. That guy in the middle who like Jamie's version. His tongue is either spoiled or he just hate flavour.

Actually some restaurants use freshly cooked rice for their fried rice recipes because the desire "dryness" can be achieved with careful water to rice ratio control and it retains more rice aroma than left over rice. For homemade fried rice, it's absolutely fine to use leftover rice, it's probably easier for most people to cook with, though.
@score2high7 ай бұрын
Interesting that you should say that about fresh cooked rice in fried rice. I just saw a video on the OTR channel about the history of rice. A restaurant owner said that it also depends on the age of the uncooked rice that also affects its texture. Who knew? Here's the link to that video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5rZe6aMZqZopbc
@Mikupigeon7 ай бұрын
@@score2high Rice over 1 year is called old rice, Newly harvested rice has richer "rice aroma" and old rice has less moist in it, therefore easier for making homemade fried rice, soggy fried rice is simply unacceptable. Some restaurants mix 2-3 different types of old and new rice together in order to achieve the desire texture, smell and taste, and Jasmine rice from Thailand is the most popular choice among Hong Kong chefs. Water control is essential and how much water is needed depends on the type or blend of rice being use.

I see people roasting about the guy in white shirt for liking Jamie's fried rice. I don't against eating tofu with rice (as someone from country that ate boiled tofu with rice) I suppose you can like it? That's being said, I do get why people kinda hating on the guy. Since it was judging on which fried rice (and most important is egg fried rice), the reason you liked just because of tofu other than the flavor or the fried rice itself kinda beat the purpose. It gave the vibe you don't like fried rice itself, you just liked tofu. So are you really judging which fried rice is the best? (Like I get the feeling of times I just want only tofu/taho instead of fried rice, but like you are judging which fried rice though?) Then again, they were blindfold and also this wasn't a real competition and just one guy's preference, so I do hope people won't go after him, spreading hate comments. That being said, I was curious on the part when people who guessing the flavor, one said "Seasame oil". Olive oil and seasame oil I felt like it will taste vadly different though. Like I wish Jamie's version used anything other than olive oil (cuz it was really disgusting on rice, I have tasted it). At least with the seasame oil you kinda get the feeling sushi or sth, olive oil? Nope. Especially with tofu/taho. So I was kinda curious why they didn't taste the olive oil and even get the feeling of seasame oil though?

when adding sauces like soy, you apply it at the outer perimeter of the wok, not in the center. . .

Tofu would be very good if it was fried and toasted first before adding it to rice. It will act as plant-based protein. Anyways, congrats uncle Roger! Haiyyah!

All the asian ancestors are legit crying at the guy with the glasses. 😭 Ridiculous choosing Jamie's version LOL

4:25 should always pour the soy sauce around the edges of the wok, then stir in.. not directly onto the rice.

Left over rice, kahit may tutong pa yan wala kaming paki. Asin. Period. That's it. Instant sinangag! Ngayon dahil nauuso ang mga magic sarap, yung iba naglalagay pero dati konting vetsin lang katalo na.😁 Sabagay mga "upgraded" version na yan. Choice nila yan so chill lang. Basta ako mas gusto ko pa rin yung kinalakihan ko na simpleng sinangag. Tagos sa puso ang sarap kahit walang mga sosyal na oil at spices.😍

Taste is subjective. Idk why the guy in the middle is getting hate from the comment section 😂

I just subscribed because I enjoy watching an adorable kid demonstrate cooking. I’m just disappointed that there is no Cantonese version, where there is NO spices, and the eggs are embedded into the rice, coating it slightly yellow.

We've tried these 3 versions but Uncle Roger's would be the best! Gordon's version would be next. Jami Oliver's version is "ok". We actually improved his version by usinf fried tofu instead.

Gordon Ramsay definitely has it! He used the traditional nasi goreng Indonesian recipe from the food vendors on the side of the street, and it’s flavorful and delicious!

I would eat all, as I think all versions are good. But I would have to choose the right fried rice depending on the main dish. If the main dish is too savory, I would have picked Jaime Oliver's because it is the most bland (based on the ingredients) among the three. Gordon Ramsay's I think would be perfect with plain fried chicken. Uncle Roger's would be perfect to elevate a meal with a normal main dish.
