First. Ed was a doctor. It was his oath to heal and inform patients. Ed is still healing and educating, his people. It’s his world wide teaching moment. If you don’t get it, you probably have never been a caregiver and especially in this situation. From me to the Salinger family, a huge thank you. Gramps, is still educating the public and if we’re so inclined, we’re learning. This caregiver is listening and learning!!! ♥️💜♥️💕♥️💜♥️

As an African woman who comes from a culture where you first respect, honour and care for your parents, I salute this man and so will many black Africans. You see there is this view in Africa that people in the west abandon their parents when they are old and just put them in nursing homes. I held this view until I saw this man Dan and his brother mark look after their papa. I was impressed and emotional at the same time. In Africa abandoning your parents is such a taboo that society will ostracise you and the backlash can be intense, so for us we honour our parents and must take care of them. God bless Dan and mark. My respect for them is deep.

And Danielle, not forgetting Grandpa Ed himself. You are changing and educating us how to navigate around home based family care of our beloved sufferers of dementia with pride and dignity. My heart swells with pride every time I watch Ed, Dan, Danniel, Mark..and the ever present dog 😅

The doctor did have a valid point when she said she's not sure if the patients have the ability to consent. She has a point. I don't think anyone can dispute that. Side effects of "freedom"

Don't pay attention to haters. You are teaching patience to people going through the same. Not everyone would take their parents in they would simply just put them in a home and guess what you are not there daily to see what is going on. Keep doing what you are doing. People need to walk in your shoes before they make comments that hurt. I have been through it with both my parents. GOD bless all your family. Hugs to Grandpa ED.❤❤❤❤

Love the videos and that Dan and his brother look after Ed. He could be in a home with one PSW caring for 10 or more people. The weigh scale tips way over for them to be with family. One on one care ❤

I Love them as well. I worked at a home for elderly a couple of years before and during my uni years. There were people staying that hade physical issues and/or dementia. Most hade relatives who visited very often of which some had a bad conscience for not being able to look after them, but realistically it may be the exception that people have the financial possibility to be a full time carer even of states often support some. And depending om the healthstatus of the aged parent it could be just too much, it's perhaps vetter to remain a caring familymember than an insufficient caregiver. Ed is forgetful yet still his kind personality. Sometimes people have a personality change added to the forgetfulness and maybe physically handicapped, and even of the familymember att an intellectual level understand it's the illness saying or doing vile things it can be very difficult to not having it eating att your own mind.

This is all ridiculous. People build communities online for support and awareness. They get to see examples. He’s right. Showing Es in his current state is important, vulnerable and wholesome. This lady is proving exactly why Dan and his family should be sharing because the do’s and don’ts list is different for everyone.

Wether people agree with the tiktok posting or not, videos like Ed’s have put Alzheimer’s and dementia in the spotlight and now it’s being talked about where it might not have normally been acknowledged. That is a win in my book. ❤

In Mexico we take care of our elders, regardless if they have dementia or not. My mom started with dementia a couple of years ago, it is not easy for both of us, but we are trying, every day is a new chapter. Bravo to mr. Sallinger fro sharing their daily routine! The most important is the love that you show to them, not if you are a professional in dementia, most of all they need love, and laughter!!!❤

When my late husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I became his full time caregiver without knowing any of the challenges we would face. Even though the caregiving dynamics of this family is different from the one I experienced, I feel that these videos will be helpful for many people. I support and appreciate your family’s willingness to share your experiences.

Dan's videos of Dr Ed are always tasteful and respectful and show what a kind, generous man his dad is. Ed has a great sense of humor and dearly loves his family, which clearly shows. I am sure there are things which happen that Dan does not post because be always wants to show his dad in a positive light. Dan and Danielle do a great job of taking care of Ed.

I came across dans videos on UTube and I find comfort in knowing that the struggles I’m having on this , now 7 yr journey, with my 87 yr old dad who is living with mixed dementia ( Alzheimer’s & vascular)is being experienced by other daughters and sons. It is a tough ride but others made it to the end and I know I can too🙂. 11:27

Takes caregiving out of the closet. Love it. Dan, Mark and his dad have enough money to do it right... Like hire additional help when its needed. Some aren't so fortunate so it is looking at privileged care giving.

Caring for someone with Dementia/Alzheimer's is difficult. You shouldnt judge. As long as the caregivers are loving, kind, keeping them safe and meeting their needs then you need to respect them for what many others won't do!!

Just like someone to voice their opinion when they have no idea what their talking about. I knew nothing about the disease or have seen it play out in real life before watching these videos. Thank you for posting. Your dad is proud of you. I guarantee that. God bless you and your family! Happy holidays ❤️

The videos do not "cross a line." They are about real life of what its like caring for someone with dementia. This is the most loving family you will ever see anywhere, and they have captured the hearts of millions of us online. Its not rose colored glasses... it is real life, and they do a great job. On the internet there are always going to be nasty critical people. Just ignore them and move along. They are the ones crossing lines with their rude hatefulness

Stopped watching this video when she started it's unethical to show any video with someone that has dementia. Wth they aren't showing anything personal like them bathing. This is what people need to know they are still ok while taking care of family with this condition. And I unsubscribe to the channel.
