I completely forgot about The Naturals series and you brought me BACK to that time. Wild! Also wanted to say that Legendborn was one of my favorite reads of last year. So so so good! I have the sequel on my shelves, but I haven't read it yet. I wanted to read it in the month of February, but got really busy so I didn't get to it. :(

Viola Davis' book was emotional for me. Hard to say it was a "good" book because it's her life. It's engaging and very well written.

It's not tricking the reader....its very common in romances that even though the readers obviously know the characters will end up together, the characters don't and they usually have individual issues or trauma that they are dealing with or even outside forces that prevents the couple from immediately getting together. The fun of it is the journey to them getting together it'd be boring and no story if they immediately get together and there is no angst or drama. Not saying When in Rome is the best example of this but I did thoroughly enjoy that book a lot more than I thought I would because I don't normally like super star/average person romances but I personally thought this one was done well. I felt like her issues were less about "oh woah is me I'm a superstar and nobody understands me" and more that she wasn't creatively doing what she truly wanted and she needed to change things.

Trying to trick the readers is only annoying when not done successfully. It kind of feels like an insult when done terribly. 😂 Who are you trying to trick?
