Merry Xmas n happy new year Feli. Just watched your family vid ..it was nice. In it you mention waiting for Christ child. Is that ok or a AKA? Just curious I've watch d a XMas doc on Amazon a couple times . About Santa like beging in other countries if memorie service me. Pretty sure it said Germany has two depending where you live a boy (forgot name) and a girl. Kringle. Anyway what iam doing taking in afternoon movie Nosferatu and then going over bros.Simple dinner .small thing. His kids try to share time with there boyfriends families and friends .So it might be just the three of us(I'm alone otherwise).Well he likes to over cook at times when there's a crowd so gonna tell him too look at this vid . He likes the German sausages and some other stuff. One last thing for a share if your travels ever bring you too GA..there's place called Hellen. It's a German town authentic restraint,windmills,shop. Well it was when my bro first came here and I just visited about12yrs ago planning on getting back. So hard to get place when you live in same state. Have a great rest of year Feli..your vids get better as you go for the most part..take care

My mother was German and my father was American. We had both American and German traditions. My mom put candles on the tree and we had electric lights on the tree too. My mom lite the candles on Christmas Eve and we sang German Christmas songs. Then she put them out and plugged the lights in and sang American Christmas songs.😅

Fun fact: Did you know in the early founding of the USA the Christmas tree was despised in the USA and was not welcome by most WASP Americans.
@christineblack1223
@christineblack1223 6 күн бұрын
@beasley1232 Most Christmas traditions were dispised in the U.S. specifically New England. The holiday was seen as English, and there was a lot of resentment towards England because of the Revolutionary war and the war of 1812. It also had to do with the fact that new England was populated by later day Puritans who thought Christmas was hedonistic and sinful- music, dancing, eating, drinking, and expeessing love might lead to eternal damnation , so many of these traditions including the tree were outlawed.

Feli, I’ve only discovered you a few months ago but you already have a place in my heart. You are so lovely….says the gushing American! 😂 But it is sincerely felt. I’m 66 years old, have a college degree in German and have never been to Germany - my biggest dream. Recently I’ve been trying to recapture my German skills, though I was never fluent, through Easy German. Wish I’d had all the amazing technology to learn a language back in 1979! My daughter and her husband plan to take me to Munich for Oktoberfest in 2025 as he goes every year at that time working for a German company based in Munich. I cannot get enough of your videos and am honored to have witnessed a bit of a true traditional German Christmas. I know the German words to the carols but listening to your family singing those carols on Christmas Eve touched me to the core. Thank you for sharing! All the best to you and Ben in 2025. ❤

Here in my home in Oxfordshire, alas no tree, no candles or singing, but Glühwein, Lebkuchen stars and chocolate hearts and a Marzipan Stollen and just a simple turkey (No stuffing) with roast potatoes and parsnip (my fan oven ist kaput so had use the chip pan but I use olive oil) and boiled carrot and Brussels sprouts. The turkey thigh, I cooked in the microwave oven. It worked out quite well and tasted good. Sadly no room for Christmas Pudding. While in Bronner's, we came upon a Christmas album sung in German. EVERY ONE of the tunes your family and you sang back in 2023 was in that album and we used to play it judiciously every Christmas season! I STILL remember that it started out with, "Kling Gloetchen." Love your videos. We just returned to the US from Munich for our 6th Christmas Market trip since 2016. Thanks for sharing the German traditions. My mom's family was from Poland, so we generally have a modest dinner of fish and potatoes on Christmas Eve where we "break bread" with everyone at the table and give them our wishes for the new year. Then we have a traditional American Christmas morning on the 25th with opening the small gifts in the stockings and the larger gifts in the early afternoon while the Turkey is in the oven. I was so happy to hear some of the lovely German Christmas carols at the markets in Regensburg, Tegernsee and Salzburg this year. (I have learned some of them from old records that my wife's mom had -- she was from Munich too.) I love being able to share the various traditions that make Christmas even more special.

Wunderbar! Visits to my grandparents 1st generation Germans here in Texas always had candles lit on the tree. I’m glad it’s still the tradition there in Munich. How nice of you to share. Thanks Feli.

Fröhliche Weihnachten from LA. Beautiful video. I really love the German Christmas traditions very similar to how my family still celebrates in Berlin and Dresden. Another delicious tradition is the fruit cake Christstollen. Viele Grüße

We have always had real candles on our trees (my Dad was Swiss as you may have guessed from my last name). And we had to go upstairs on Christmas Day afternoon and wait for the bell to say that we could come down as well. We also sing carols around the tree, although your family does it much better. One rule we had that you didn't mention (and it may be that my family invented it) was that all the kids had to give everyone at least one present, but they absolutely HAD to be something you completely made yourself. And I grew up in Clifton Gaslight in Cincinnati until I was ten...
