I enjoyed this tutorial very much but I was hoping to see more detail in putting the lining inside the stocking and making it fit properly. The stocking turned out beautifully. I love making these stockings.

Also, what seam allowance does one use on the lining if they do not have a serger? I have not lined my felt stockings before and I would like for the lining to fit properly. Thank you for this tutorial. It’s very inspirational to me.

Great suggestion! I have realized that I skipped too much! I will make another video of just that. But, let me try to talk you through it. 1. Use the back of the stocking as a pattern to cut your lining material. Cut around it about 1/4 in outside of the felt and 1/2 inch above the felt at the top. 2. Stitch your material together, right sides together around the sides, toe, heel and opposite side. Do not turn your work to the right side. 3. Place the lining into the stocking making sure it gets all the way into the toe and heel. 4. Fold over about 3/4 inch at the top and hand blind stitch it to the felt matching the color of the felt with your thread. I hope this helps and again, I am sorry for skipping so much! Great question! Because I cut the lining 1/4" larger than the stocking back, I use a 1/2" seam allowance. I always want to err on the side of it being a little too big than too small. You can always take a small tuck in the stitching at the top to adjust for that. I fold down about 1/2 inch at the top for the hemming and I take any necessary tucks at the side seams of the stocking. I hope this helps and I plan to do a detailed lining video in the near future! please note the liner will take the weight the outer stocking only needs to be tacked together

Do you put additional felt over the back where the embroidery items extend over stocking edge to cover?

Great question! No, I have not. Those areas are usually sturdy because of additional felt pieces being added to them. I just attach the stocking back as it is stamped. I hope this helps.

Do you iron the piece using a cloth to help the felt not to burn ?

Yes, ironing with a light press cloth is always a good idea. Not only to keep from melting or burning the synthetic felt, but to prevent staining if your iron may leak. Great question!

A somewhat helpful video but you missed out on a lot of important points and you spent too much time on showing us cutting and sewing front to back which. You left out the most important part of sewing the lining. And not many have a serger. I have 4+ sewing machines not one is a serger. Did I miss the part of inserting the lining and tab? Also it would of been helpful to talk about fabric design. Some fabric have an up and down. I once sewed a lining upside down. Also a shorter video is helpful. If videos are too long I will skip them. PS The cat is a distraction.
