Glad you did these videos. I'm new to all of this and purchased some vintage kits on ebay of the same ornaments I grew up with. The directions aren't nearly as detailed and have struggled to figure out. But your videos have helped!

@JenniferGoodTGL4 жыл бұрын
Hi Brealynn! If you've never made one before, with my video tutorials, you can make one in about 4-5 weeks possibly sooner! When I first started, I didn't have much help via the internet so it took me longer (about 6 weeks) because I had to learn all the stitches on my own! You can do it! ☺Don't forget to Like👍 and Subscribe for more helpful videos! Thanks for watching :D

Do you have a video on appliqué of the leaves? I am trying to figure out how much on the leaf I need to applique because it only shows the 3 line on the stocking. Does that make since? I am working on the Santa’s visit” stocking
@JenniferGoodTGL2 жыл бұрын
If you want the leave to pop out a little then just applique part of it. If you want the leaf to lay flat then applique normal. It's depends on the look your going for. I've done both.

Hi, I've just come across these 'Stockings', they're quite expensive, so don't want to mess them up, so looked for 'Instructions' & came across your channel. VERY HELPFUL!!, Just a quick question ...... I've seen some of these that have been 'Blanket Stitched', they're rare & not many people have, but what do you think about Blanket Stitch, would you consider doing Blanket stitching them, or would you just stick with the 'Applique Stitch'?? I know this was a while ago, but I really hope you read this soon. Thanks again for posting this, it was a real life saver, I was hopelessly stuck as to how I should go about doing one of these. I don't think I would have thought about it, had I not come across you, so a HUGE THANK-YOU!! Keep up the good work. I was thinking that you could really do your own pattern if you had all the tools to cut your own felt into shapes, I could get really creative with Angels & such .... Wish me Luck xx
@JenniferGoodTGL5 жыл бұрын
@Angela - I don’t normally use the blanket stitch to complete my stockings but if you want to do that on your stocking go for it! Some people like the look of the blanket stitch and some don’t. You’re free to modify your stocking how you want. That’s kind of the beauty of these kits. So glad you found my channel! Thanks for watching!

Excellent video. I thought you were going to show how to sew on the sequins! Please help. I am a retired amateur and want to know how..

I wished I showed more in these videos. These videos were my first youtube tutorials and I didn't know what the heck I was doing let alone if people would even like my content. Over the years, I've shown more. I can do a mini video about sewing beads and sequins if you'd like.

Great videos! Someone has asked me to do 3 lists for them. After watching your videos no way I'd have time. How long do you work a day on a stocking?
@JenniferGoodTGL4 жыл бұрын
When I first started, I was doing maybe 4-5 hours at night and it would take me 4-6 weeks just to finish one stocking. Granted, I had no help and the learning curve was HUGE. Lately it's a lot more because I'm faster now and I'm a stay at home mom. At most I can work all day on a stocking. Some days I don't have time. On average I'd say 2-3 hour increments throughout the day sometimes longer. Most of my sewing is done at night while kids are sleeping :)

I was wondering if you always use 2 strands for the appliquéing? My chart says one.
@JenniferGoodTGL5 жыл бұрын
When I first started these projects, I used 1 strand. Some of the kits I used, I switched to 2 strands on certain colors because the thread would keep breaking. On my current project, I wanted to see what the finished wreath would look like using 2 strands. The main problem is that sometimes the kits don't come with enough thread to do the entire project with 2 strands. Overall, I will be using 1 strand unless I feel like I need to double it for durability reasons. I've done enough of these to know that using 1 strand to applique works fine. Thanks for the question, I hope my comment was helpful. :)

@@JenniferGoodTGL Thank you for your quick reply. I have watched your videos many times. Thank you for providing so much useful information. Have you ever lined the back of the front of the stocking? Is so how and with what. I wonder about little hands getting out the gifts and snagging on a string, even though they are only about 1/2 to 1".
@JenniferGoodTGL5 жыл бұрын
@@@terryparenti172 - If you haven't put the backing on yet, I would use some extra felt or cotton fabric (plain or with a pattern that pairs well) as a lining for the back of the front to cover threads. For my stockings, I did not line them but I plan to go back and line them with cotton fabric (it's more kid friendly and cleans easy). I've had many people ask about how to line a stocking so I plan on putting a tutorial together for those who want to! You use the back as a template to create two halves of the lining, sew them together (pattern or nice side facing in) together leaving the top open and then stick that into your completed stocking and sew the top only. That way you can take the lining out to clean and dry easily.

Help!!! one of my kits is lacking the beads, thread, and sequence package
@JenniferGoodTGL3 жыл бұрын
You can contact Plaid about missing items from their kits. Depending on how new the kit is, they can replace them. If it's an older kit however, it may be harder to get. If it were me, I'd look up a few pictures and put it together by eye. As long as the felt is all stamped, you can put it together! What kit is it?

It probably is; this was video was posted a few years ago. My stitches are much more consistent and I don't add so much stuffing now. Takes time to develop those skills and pobodys nerfect. :) Hope the tutorial was helpful anyhow!
