As nice as having the horse and guard on display is, it’s also totally unnecessary. But since they’re a symbol and going to be there- why is there not a rope barricade? The type used in bank and movie theatres? Something to create a barrier between the tourists and the horse and rider. It’s not fair to the guard nor the horse to be forced to be touched by tourists just for a damn picture. Put up a rope barricade, separating tourist from horse, and the tourists can still take a picture. You’re damn photo does not need you touching the horse.

It could be that the tourist dollars are worth tolerating their intolerable behavior. But I think there may be another reason to not put up a rope barricade. I've been watching for awhile now and occasionally one of the horses will become unsettled standing in the box. I have even seen them bolt with no one there. The guard has to wrestle a bit with him to regain control. Getting the horse entangled in ropes could be even more dangerous for mount and rider. It's just a thought.

Once you take control of the reins you take control of the horse. Tagged could have serious consequences for the trooper sitting on the horse. We live in an unstable world and many terrorists would see the soldier as a target and if they get control of the horse can them attack him, of course he has a sword but no goos taking a knife to a gunfight and the police may be elsewhere when the attack happens. That is why troopers are so guarded about anyone touching/holding the reins
