Cute horse enjoying polo mints and attention from elderly man and had friendly exchange with the guard. Nice to see someone actually ask to give the horse a treat then thank the guard. It's perplexing why tourists grab the reins one after the other even after being warned. That guard showed remarkable patience. Come to think of it, the horse did too! Dunno why, but I wanted to slap that woman who yelled when the horse moved and that stupid teen making fun of the guard having to yell " Make Way." Enjoyed the long vid, thanks!

@kathellison8084 they are such wonderful companions, and mine was also very large at 140 lbs or 63.503 kilos and was also my service dog. Mine was friendly in most instances but were someone to quickly approach me, she would become protective of my space. We lived in the country where I rehabilitated wildlife and she would sit outside with me while wild deer and turkey would graze and dirt bathe within a couple of feet from us but if a stray dog would come on the land, she'd chase them off. She was awesome at responding to hand signals but could be goofy as could be. When my mom was alive, one of my GSD's favorite activities was to chase a potato we'd toss down the tall hill we lived on. Oddly my hubby, mom and GSD passed within a 3 month period about 4 years ago. Please don't think I posted this for sympathy. I've had wonderful experiences shared with them though their memory will always tug at my heart.

Asking for permission is important. As the gentleman walked away he said 'thank you.' Nice interaction between man, horse and guard! One of the Guards had his right foot out of the stirrup. Rein grabbers are to be expected, they seemed to turn up in a bunch. Then usually when the reins are grabbed back, they look at the Guard, absolutely horrified they have been corrected. Rude! Tourists have always walked around in their own little bubbles unaware of anyone else around them. I went to England back in 1987 and when we went to Stonehenge, my sister was trying to take a picture of my mother and I, it took 10 minutes because people kept walking between us. This is back in the days of 35 mm cameras, don't know what they thought we were doing with one person with a big camera in front of her face and 2 people with their backs to Stonehenge. Tourists, peabrains all.

Tourists seem to have the brains of sheep. i have noticed that if one person touches the reins...irrespective of if the guard admonishes them in some way...often the people after them do too. I also saw a woman overly fushing around a horses face...she left without incident, but the people who came after her somehow felt compelled to do the same thing. Until eventually the horse got annoyed and went to nip. Boundaries are important for sheep. You can't assume they will do anything but follow the behaviour of others.

The gentleman that asked permission to feed the horse was most likely ex military, based on his carriage and demeanor. And he was rewarded by a “yes.” Something I’ve noticed about those who come for photos. I would never have guessed that so many people, in this day and age, are unable to read. What a tragic situation!! I can only hope that, when they return home someone who can read will school them. Illiteracy is the only reason I can think of…..if they CAN read, and simply disregard the sign, that makes them just your run-of-the-mill rude and disrespectful tourists who clearly have no idea how to behave when visiting other countries and they should STAY HOME! ❤️🐈

In these videos you only see what happens between 11:00 and 4:00 pm. Horse Guards is on Whitehall which is the centre of British government and a major traffic artery to Trafalgar Square. The Prime Minister's office and residence is just down the road, and there are many other govt. departments on , or just off, Whitehall. It would be impracticable to close one side of the street to pedestrian traffic.

@shirleyanneyoung955 I know nothing about horses either, other than the obvious, i.e., they have teeth and are controlled by reins and the way the horse and the rider are reacting when frustrated. But I do know that if I went to a foreign country and let's choose North Korea for arguments sake ... and I saw a sign in Korean that was capitalized. I would find out what it said. But, you are right. Not everyone will think to do that ... but manners don't belong to just English speaking countries. They visit the palace to see the history and pomp and ceremony. I'd never interfere with it, and it's not even my country. Might I add, please, that people's general lack of knowledge about horses is precisely why there is a sign! If a tourist, out-of ignorance, willfully or through lack of English skills, gets hurt by getting too close, who is responsible? Not the palace. They have warned the public. Then, the poor guy on the horse will feel bad. Enuf said.

I cannot think of a touristy photo of me in front of really astoundingly beautiful monuments, buildings, or even resplendent Horse Guards and their fabulous horses would be *_AT ALL_* improved by my mere presence. How silly people believe their’s _DOES_ is beyond my comprehension! And this may mean nothing, but I’ve yet to see a toddler to 4-5 years old _never_ looks happy, so why do parents put them through it?? Oh! Yes!! I forgot! Personal vanity again rears it’s ugly head!

Never ever understand how people Can grab the reins. Or even clap the horse. Perhaps people as tourists detatch the brain. Even a sign they most likely never see. Be polite and respectfull. Help people when you Can and - and keep your sticky fingers in the pockets.

Maybe there should be a sign on Both Sides. Or maybe a picture showing a zero with a line through it over the reins. But then there'd have to be a picture on the soldier's boots, horse's nose, etc. It's easier to just stop allowing access to them at all.

People are so unaware that the guards are there doing a job, and animals are not safe, especially if they don't know you. This is not Disneyland! So disrespectful. I visited London with my camera but never took a picture of any working person without asking permission. When I asked a Beefeater at his post for permission to photograph him, he told me I was the first person to ever ask for permission! Sad.

Too bad they have to ruin the experience for others.

Hi LCW I believe I saw Arnie the other day. Not sure who filmed the arrival of the young Captain who rode in from the front. But I am 99.9% sure his steed was our Arnie. He had the exact same markings black with just a splash of white on his rear left hoof. Seems Arnie got promoted to Captains horse.

God this makes me so mad and how the Guards tolerate this for the Horses sake i will never know. They are Guarding and Protecting what part if this dont we as humans understand. It is always such a very beautuiful display spoilt by so few for so many.

I also can't believe how many people just walked in the way of other people's photos, so rude!! Then there were the people who kept coming back for more photos.......move over people and let someone else have a go!! I noticed a lot of hand signs show on photos, especially that plum who was stood t o the left of the second horse with his foot on the wall....he did a normal photo then put his hands into an stupid andrew tate pose for another photo 🤦‍♀️.
