Hello Suj, Wooden fences are very old. My idea is to screw concrete posts into wooden planks. In this way, we will make a longer-lasting fence. Metal connections always increase rigidity. You did a good research for this job. Lots of options. You did a great job including the painting work. I like the cross overlay system. I took note of the technique you used. nail gun always adds practicality. A solid and beautiful fence. Thank you for sharing the details. nice video. All the best. Big greetings. Kind regards. Your friend Mehmet

Thank you Mehmet 😊 👍. Yes did a lot of research in this. Hopefully with all the metal connections, the fence will stand up properly for a very long time 😁

Nice job all around mate on this video. The satisfaction I doing it yourself is worth at least a couple of grand. Good idea to do all the painting first prior to install. Looks professional to me Suj.

Thanks Harki 😀. Absolutely yes, not many people will attempt to do their own fence, lol. I am genuinely happy with the project 👍. And yes, I didn't want to be outside painting the fence panels. This way, once the panels are up, it is all done!

Nice job Suj. 👏🏼 Exactly the route I went with mine re featheredge. The only difference is I went for concrete posts to replace the wooden ones...but boy, has everything gone up. Madness. Nice video production too 👍🏼 Regards, Ian

Cool, thanks Ian. yes, prices are really crazy now. I should have done this few years back and saved at least 30% of the cost. The plain feather edge boards itself is around £350 now. I actually did a *goof* up in the calculation. I am just working on uploading the breakdown costs in the description, and I noticed that I had added an extra £110 for roof battens, that I bought at the same time, but for another project! LOL.

Awesome job Suj! What a great in-depth look at DIY fencing... that may be better than a professional job :P Congrats on 10k subs too!

Thank you very much, James! yes, it did take some planning and watching a few tube videos to get the idea, haha. By the way, it is some of my older videos that are still bringing in subs. 😀

Hey man killer job here as always, I do renovation and repair in the USA, and a lot of this stuff is new to me which is always nice to expand knowledge of the work we do. I wanted to make a suggestion about hammers though, I noticed your curved claw hammer, nothing wrong with em, but a straight claw will let you pry boards much easier as well as during demo, you can use the claw a bit like a hatchet and break apart wood that just won't give up its nails. Again great job, I've been binging your channel all evening 👏

Haha, thanks a lot bud 👍😊. You are right, I need to get a straight claw hammer one. Have seen the Perkins builder brothers use it to great effect!

You've done a great job of that mate! It's on my list for our summer to replace my fence as it's rotting away, and has previously had overgrown bushes and trees destroying it. Gonne wait until it's warmer though, probably around october! Take care

Nicely done! Maybe a new garden table should be the next project - the one you used as a workbench looks a bit tired... 😅

Yeah, wooden post caps always twist and war or some idiot comes past and twists them off. You're a much braver man than me doing this.

Nice job Suj! Interesting to see the different install methods. Here is typically 8-10 foot long posts that are sunk at least 4 feet into the ground to get below the frost line. I'm not sure where you are, (I think UK?) but it makes sense that you might not have that same issue.
@SujMenon
@SujMenon Жыл бұрын
Yes John, if the posts are being sunk, then yes, its kind of similar here as well. In my specific case, I was reusing those existing concrete spurs, which I believe goes down around 2 ft/60 cm in the ground. So leveraging that as an anchor point. 👍

Do we get this in kerala ji
@SujMenon
@SujMenon Жыл бұрын
I don't think this style is used for houses in Kerala. Its usually concrete base, and then bricks up, with offset brick piers every 2m or so. But it can be done if required. Rather than feather edge board, you could ask for 22mm/1 inch thick boards.
