This guy knows what he is doing, follow his advice. I've just watched a few videos by others who do just about everything wrong, including nailing two boards together, which should never be done due to expansion, splitting and the difficulty replacing faulty boards.

You really should treat the rails and posts with bitumen as well A gravel board should also be treated and should be 6 inches

I remember the first privacy fence I helped build I was 9 or 10 I remember my dad showing me this he was no carpenter he was a solider. I am 30 now I have a framing business and we do a lot of custom decks and fences some owners won’t want us to do it some hoa and insurance jobs call for them.

@@GreentopLandscapes in my own garden i have used 4 rails and also used 2.4 m length so posts were at 2.4 m So i decided 2.4 was a bit far so i decided to go for 1.2 m which mskes the whole fencecalot more solid and stops any twisting

It's up to the neighbour to double up, which is what I did, feather edge is cheap enough.
