I just bought the bassbreaker 15. I love the reverb more than spring reverb. It’s quiet enough for home use, but can also be cranked loud. Clean at low gain works great with my acoustic. The mid gain channel has enough gain that you don’t need a drive pedal. I’m not a high gain guy so I stick to the low and mid gain stages and it sounds great!

I have this amp, and it's killer for clean to medium gain sounds. In high gain mode, it runs 3 preamp tubes in series and it gets pretty noisy, but this amp takes pedals extremely well, so it's easy to run a good drive pedal instead!
@williamscardanellojr91687 жыл бұрын
picked up one of these 15 watt bassbreakers bout 3 months ago..... couldn't be happier . usually run in the mid gain structure setting with the master just before the amp breaks up , then adjust how much gain . Can get it to clean up really well by using the guitar vol knob . if i need a little more punch, just kick in the tube screamer as a clean boost . running my Heritage semi hollow body through this amp with the seth lover pick ups.....sweeeeet ! is this am a fender deluxe .. no ....it does give me a wider palate of sounds from a fenderish to a marshall . i'm playing everything from country , jazz, blues,classic rock & some metal. and the thing aint 80 lbs!!!!!!. i like it .. but everyone is different . play through what sounds good to you .....jam on !!!!

You can't compare the bassbreaker to a deluxe reverb. Even on the clean mode of the Bassbreaker, with the EL84's, this is a different beast. Just buy a used Bassbreaker, out of the 100 amps I've owned in past 10 years, the Bassbreaker is in my top 5 of all time. Just love it, and the romance hasn't stopped for months.

After 3 year gathering dust I finally took this amp to practice...works great with Tele but my strat prefers a different amp...has a great Marshally rock tone with more attack that gets heard (with drummer)...15 watts not enough for loud clean tones (lack of bass end @ higher volume but can get that sweet spot for rock), less weight to deal with which is better on my back these days...I might check out the 30R now......bored, write a review on random site...🎸😎✌🏻

Serious Question but maybe a dumb one: So when you plug in through the XLR out in the back to the PA so you have a signal going to the PA, you can still hear out of the main speaker of the amp, right??
@NStuffMusic7 жыл бұрын
That is correct. If you want signal to the Line Out only or for silent recording, the you would switch the Mute switch down. The pilot light will start flashing to indicate that you getting signal to the line out but not to the speaker itself. Hope that helps! Thanks for checking out our channel!!
@mattgilbert73476 жыл бұрын
Brad Thomas The cab em is crap. Get a decent cab em unit, turn OFF the Bassbreaker cab em, turn on the ground lift, run the XLR to the cab em unit then to the mixer/PA. I would recommend an A/DA, Digitech Cab Dryver or even a Mooer Trescab.

Listen closely during the split-second at 4:59 when he switches the amp to high gain - the amp buzzes like hell and he tries to cover it up quickly by playing right away. If you check online, there are many BAD reviews of this amp becasue of unacceptable noise and hum, esp the more gain you add. Even when he switches to mid gain at 4:29, there's unacceptable buzz. These amps also had/have a major problem with hum when using the effects loop - so bad that Fender is paying the cost of having that particular problem fixed. But the inherent noise in the gain stages remains. I wouldn't touch this amp with a ten foot pole. And people like this guy in the video covering up the outrageous hum are just being dishonest salesmen, pushing a bad product.
@Relicsun6 жыл бұрын
Richard K. You got to remember he is using a semi hollow guitar and it's prone to buzzing and feedback especially when you are close to the amp. Just saying.
@danielhartman50866 жыл бұрын
Yes I did notice that hum in the gain. Thank you for that. It was between this and a blues Jr.So blues Jr here I come. I can always get a tube screamer for the Jr if I want gain. Besides the Jr has a fat button. How much gain do you really need. I am no metal head.
@stevebell48536 жыл бұрын
So glad I read this cos it strikes a nerve. After a recent experience with a dog of a Pro Jr that eats through pre amp tubes for breakfast because of hot bias and hisses like a python because of it's dodgy lead dressing, I'm wary of fender amps these days. I dont think they know how to do quiet loops either. The loop in the Champion 100 is noisy as hell. My champion has started developing a low constant buzz also. Fender amps - LOVE the sound, but in this day and age something is missing from their design and build quality. It's just not the same company anymore. It's beginning to rely on gimmicks. Grey tweed, marketed with a cynical name that invokes bluesbreaker name and bassman name (unforgivable marketing gimmick imho), marketed as an amp that can do fender and marshall sounds...,,,oh hey guys, it's got an LED that blinks when it's in standby just to remind you that you just flicked the switch and put it into standby 5 seconds ago......mmmmm, blinking LEDs....proper futuristic, that one must have taken some thinking.........look at all the shitty tricks they pull to get you to buy this crap. I'd be happy if they just concentrated on honest to god good sounding amps that are designed and built well with no whistles. Which was what the dog of a pro jr I bought was supposed to be - so it seems there's no hope with these guys - they cant even do simple well. I used to buy amps a lot without checking them first. You know what it's like, impulsive ebay raids. Them days are long gone johnny - ended up with too many dogs. This is one I'll skip thanks to your comment - and I nearly dropped on one of these second hand today for 170 notes and I'm so glad I didn't. There's too many bullshit salespeople on youtube and they're all out for one thing only $£$£. I dont trust Anderton's demos for the same reason. #1 priority - sell amps - make money. Good spot on the buzz - I would have missed it for sure. Keeping this motherfucking GAS in check for 2018 boyyeeeeeeeeeee
@eddienomoney18826 жыл бұрын
I own this amp and yes, the high gain is very noisy. I had to go out and buy a noise suppressor the next day. And while playing on the high gain setting, the suppressor needs to be turned all the way up. That's the negative for this amp. The positive is - the amp has that SRV Texas blues sound out of the box, unlike the blues junior. I use a vintage Ibanez PQ9 for a high tone boost. I add a TS9 for SRV's blistering solos. Dead-on tone. I also own the blues junior as well. I run an A/B box, the junior for clean and the bassbreaker with the Boss noise suppressor and Ibanez TS9 for SRV solos. So far, so good.
@eddienomoney18826 жыл бұрын
@@danielhartman5086 There's a newer version of the TS9 that has a mix knob on it that allows for blending the clean sound with the pedal's OD. Consider purchasing that model, I think that it costs a few dollars more than the original tube screamer. But that feature is worth it. Or consider purchasing the TREX Diva Overdrive pedal. It has the clean signal/ overdrive mix knob but is more reasonably priced. I have that one , as well as the TS9. Both excellent pedals.

@alexswanson12475 жыл бұрын
Imho the clean tone in the bassbreaker is just as good if not better. Lightly used gear i find better than new gear, as you usually dont need a break in period, and everything still works just fine and dandy. These things are tough too. I think you got yourself a solid deal in that trade
@JG-ux7of5 жыл бұрын
The clean channel is great but sounds more like a Vox AC15 over a Blues Jr. The Blues Jr has more Mids while the bass breaker has more of a scooped mid range with a tight low end and crisp highs. Clean think Vox and Dirty think Marshall. Honestly if you have a Tweed Blues Jr and a Bassbreaker you have enough versatility there to replicate any blues, rock and classic rock tones. At high gain you can even play Metal with the Bassbreaker.
@fragtagninja16335 жыл бұрын
It sounds good, but not as good as the Jr. No contest there. The bassbreaker has a much more British tone profile. Still a very good clean tone, but the Jr is the king of clean in the low wattage category IMO.

So I just got this amp based on a lot of these videos and playing at the store (very low volume). I get a brand new one and it sounds awful. There are no bright highs or mids, just this nasal low end. I have tried to break in the speaker but I'm at roughly 10 hours and it's the same muddy toneless sound! It sounds NOTHING like this cool video. Ugh... I've tried an overdrive pedal but it does nothing to help. BTW, it still has the bad hissing from the effects loop but only on certain pedals? This will probably get returned unfortunately.
@mono451127 жыл бұрын
Got one, and its probably more blues\crunch stuff, anyway, You can get some high "brightness" using right guitar cable and combo controls. (eq., "bright" knob, also make sure you got turned off "cabinet simulation" and "ground lift" at the back of the combo). Hope you have found the way : )
