Here is a sound demo of the new Fender Hot Rod Deluxe IV Combo with many guitars and different settings. The Hot Rod Deluxe IV has a fantastic clean sound and the modified Drive- and More Drive-Channels come with warm overdrive sounds. The all tube combo works also great with overdrive and distortion pedals. Well Done!

Can we appoint this guy to do all amp reviews at Sweetwater or something? I mean, using those same guitar tracks across all models of amps like he does it just killer! Two of my better amps were picked from his reviews. These have to be the best amp reviews on the planet! Even if the amp sucks, the review is perfect!

This amp sounds glorious. Wow! I only play at home though and it seems overkill, but I love the sound of 6L6's. I play mostly clean or at the edge of breakup for blues. It seems perfect for this.

Thanks for the good quality, no-nonsense demo. If you're a professional gig guitarist, this amp makes an electric guitar sound like an electric guitar should. With your stomps or effects, you will get you all the sounds you need, and with any style guitar. If you can't get a good sound it's going to be because of you, but thats usually the case with anything isn't it. The only question is quality and reliability/roadworthyness (is that a word :)?

So I need to downsize my rig from my 68 custom twin, and i play a jazzmaster with thick strings tuned down to b. I was looking at a Blues Junior but the reviews seemed to say the bassy-ness was lacking. Would this amplifier keep the low end of a baritone well? Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks!

If you have twin reverb go for a deluxe reverb. I have a hrd iii and i really love the clean tones but its very loud and the drive channels are very weird for my taste . But if you want to sell your twin reverb and keep some money for pedals the hrd is a good choice.

Idk what noise you mean. If it’s a hum it could be bad electric in your house or it could be improper shielding in your guitar. I get noise when playing with overdrive on high. But I don’t get any noise otherwise. If it’s any other sound maybe check your tubes for a microphonic tube or something. You could look up the noise of forums too.

I don't know, 40 watts, all-tube 1x12 combo amp... I mean, I've played with a Vox AC15C1, which is an all-tube 15 watts 1x12 combo amp... And I didn't even get past half the volume knob, while playing with my rock band live on a mid-sized venue. I must say, I am the only guitar player on the band, and we don't play "soft" rock. Yes, this amp is going to give you more than just enough for a live band.

At 3 to 4 (7 to 8 o clock) on the volume on this amp, it's nearly matched to my Orange CR120 (150 watt) running out of my 2x12 at around 11/12 o clock which is my go to stage volume) - this thing is MASSIVE and COMPRESSED. In love with this, especially the new Tweed exclusive from Guitar Center. A must buy.

It is a pretty loud amp but still sounds good at lower volumes. I have the 212 version. I run a Line 6 helix in the effects loop which allows me to attenuate it. You can also run a volume pedal in the loop. It does the same thing. But even without doing that it is ok.

@aaronpool3132
@aaronpool3132 5 жыл бұрын
The volume knob is kind of misleading. You have a volume and a master. You use the volume to manipulate the tubes more than the output of the amp, allowing you to go into natural overdrive while maintaining a decent volume level.
@williamlittlefield4749

I have a 1991 deville and I don’t notice any hiss but idk what you consider super low I usually play a bit below two with my guitar at like half volume to 3/4. It could just be my untrained ear but I do hear a crackling. It’s obviously not the 4 but maybe you just got duds
@MrTelecosta
@MrTelecosta 3 жыл бұрын
It does hiss a bit, but that’s the nature of tube amps. Live, with loud volume and full band it’s not a problem. But on a quiet setting at home and at low volumes ( ex: at a volume you can hear your own strings ringing on the guitar) it’s noticeable ( but it isn’t super hissy either, just a bit of noise). I love it, great gigging amp. Never failed me ( knock on wood!).

Good demo. I currently using a Hotrod deville III 212 which is my beater for gigging. I'll only use the clean channel (which sounds phenomenal!) because I need many different pedals for doing cover band shit and it takes pedals really well. I simply refuse to use the dirty channel on this amp! I really don't understand why Fender just can't seem to get their dirty channel right on the HRD range. No matter what version it is, the dirty channel imo always sounds like shit!

The first 4 minutes were of the amp alone without any pedals. He demonstrated a plethora of tones with various pickups in that time. If you weren’t able to hear “what the amp comes with” during that time then I don’t know what to tell you. Pedals were used at the end because this amplifier is notoriously popular for use as a pedal platform and there are individuals who are curious how the amp takes drives and such. This was a well done demo that covered all of the bases.

You can't play by night of course, and you can't put the volume knob to 4, but if you are smart, you could play through this beautiful amp even in a small home.
@66siclone79
@66siclone79 6 жыл бұрын
I just buyed this amp, he's "too loud" in a way that the volume button has a very quick response, you are at 70% of the amp at 6/12 to correct that, use an Equaliser that you wire on the effect rack of the amp. By turning down the general volume button of the egaliser it will permit to have a more biggest range of volume control, will be easier to set up gigs and play at home ;)
