The Baked Potato is the best club in the whole world. I have seen several incredible bands/musicians (Allan Holdsworth, Mike Keneally, Andy Summers, Brett Garsed, Don Randi & Quest, and others) play there over the years. I would love to see Michael Landau play there. My dream has been to live down the street from the Baked Potato so I could go there all the time to see all the best of the best musicians.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. I could could listen to Gary Novak all day long. His playing was perfect for this song. I have no idea what people are listening to that think this was overplayed.

You have to admit that the single strokes can sometimes overpower things... Gary is a very aggressive player. Colaiuta for instance is too but he leaves space for others and interacts with the other band members.

I had the good fortune of seeing Gary play with Jeff Lorber and he was so laid back and tasteful until he did something like an 8 bar solo where he blew everyone's mind at the end of the night. I think Gary steals the show here and powers this band like freight train. This is not overplaying, this is taking it to another level in the perfect musical context for someone of Gary's skill and talent.

Ok a few years ago but drummers help me out. I think the playing is great but I like more crisp accents on the snare to make the song pop, or more definition. Otherwise it kind of sounds a little muddled like here. It is the way the snare is tuned, or just the way he plays?
