That voice. Was it not caused by too much smoking?
@simonramsay60806 жыл бұрын
Hugo Lindum it wasn't just too much smoking; her voice was like a low murmur, it's just the way she spoke as an actress! Woman normally have very dry flat voices when they smoke. I've heard worse than her and I didn't even know if she was a smoker. She still lived to 90 anyway.

I wonder if any of this makes sense to anyone outside of the UK. Let alone someone who didn't have English as a first language. You can't help feeling sorry for someone who can't understand why people laugh at something like, 'he's perused his synopsis'. Neither can I, but it's funny anyway. Gotta love Fenella and that treacly voice; she looks like she is having fun.

famous British inuendo an double entemndre. whereas today,, the full expression MUST be spelled out, and loses it's point.
@IAmSoMuchBetterThanYou5 жыл бұрын
@@MrDaiseymay I was out of the UK for 23 years (apart from a week or so every few years to visit family and friends) until February of 2018 when I returned to work in Leeds for six months. I've always thought of dry humour and double entendre as very British and it's a matter of pride that Americans never get my humour. Unless you say 'just kidding', they take everything at face value. Most of my colleagues at my job in Leeds were considerably younger than myself - mostly graduates who'd never worked full-time before. Their inability to get double entendre , innuendo or dry humour was baffling to me. I always thought these things were innate in British people. But apparently not. I do like a lot of current UK comedy, but it seems that we've lost something.
@hugebartlett18844 жыл бұрын
@@IAmSoMuchBetterThanYou Not many people in this country can even speak coherently now,let alone appreciate humour. They mumble amongst themselves,and even the married couples I see mutter away as if they are afraid to actually say something. Texting has brought about an inability to communicate sensibly. And humour has to be spelled out and explained for people to understand.
